[Brett Usher] “Wizards got Deni with the 9th pick in 2020 and four years later he’s for sure one of the top 7-8 players in that draft class Really can’t be mad at the pick”

Deni is having himself a motherfucking season. Maybe he’s not going to become an all nba point forward and it still sucks that Haliburton went after him, but I definitely am thrilled with the significant progress he has made this season.

where’s he going in the re-draft?

    1. Haliburton
    2. Anthony Edwards
    3. Tyrese Maxey
    4. LaMelo Ball
    5. Desmond Bane
    6. ??

I guess between Jaden McDaniels Onyeka Okongwu and Deni is the 6-8 in some order, you’d think those guys go before Saddiq Bey & Okoro. I love re-drafting

  3. Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Desmond Bane, Devin Vassell, Tyrese Haliburton, Saddiq Bey, Precious Achiuwa, Tyrese Maxey, and then you still have Immanuel Quickley, Payton Pritchard, Obi Toppin, Isaiah Joe & BBall Paul Reed.

We’re still less than 24 hours after Deni got his first 30+ point game after 266 games in the NBA so it’s still time for us fans to go nuts, so it’s cool.

With any luck, 4 years from now in February 2028, the Wizards are competing for the play-in or something. It’s going to take a long long time before we’re good again. Going to be a long road but with any luck things are a lot better to watch the rest of this season, even though they’re going to continue to rack up the Ls. (seriously though, have you looked at the next 6 games? cot damn)

It was very justifiable to be upset before. You gotta think about how much shit he had to deal with during his tenure. Scott Brooks his rookie year, and Brooks didn’t really do much with Deni besides making him a spot up shooter.

We get Wes, who initially claimed he was excited to develop him, then proceeded to keep him on a tight leash, and prioritized veterans, even AFTER we traded vets away. For whatever reason, Wes kept holding him back, as if we had any other players that needed the minutes, and that felt like a huge waste of development years. You had the fan tension on which young guy to prioritize between him and Rui on top.

Even before Wes stepped down, Deni was on pace for what I thought was a best case scenario year 4. I predicted 12-13ppg, 5 rebs, 3 ast, and 35% from 3 would be a successful year, and he’s pretty much met or exceeded my predictions.

This recent outburst was nothing I was expecting at all, but maybe things might be turning a corner. I got frustrated watching him, because I clearly saw the potential, I see he’s serious about getting better, and know he is his biggest critic, but it just amounted to inconsistent play for a long time.

There’s a lot to like about his progress this year, and sometimes guys don’t take that year 3 leap. Sometimes it’s year 4 or later, but he’s going to be here for the foreseeable future, so let’s hope this isn’t a flash in the pan, and we’re finally getting the player that people were high on coming out of that draft

  5. As someone who is trying to watch as many basketball games as possible and watching a lot of his 2020 draft class fellows, So far I have him at #6, close to Vassel who is at #7.

    1. Hali

    2. Edwards

    3. Maxey

    4. LaMelo

    5. Bane

    6. Deni

    7. Vassell (confident shooter but can’t see him being an alpha #1 on a given night when needed like Deni has looked against NOLA. And he’s not a versatile defender as Deni)

    8. Jaden Mcdaniels

    9. Josh Green

    10. Aaron Nesmith

  6. BurritoMaster3000

Ant, Hali, and Maxey for sure. It’s still really frustrating bc of the Haliburton drop and disbelief he actually fell to us….then the pass

Essentially you are happy that they picked appropriately…I’m a Pistons fan…I feel your pain…
