Honestly Lively finishing that game the way he did was one of the baddest things a Mavs player has done in a while. Basically got punched in the face, broke his nose, shook it off and won the game then essentially straight to surgery.
Dereck has the athleticism, he’s got the stats, and increasingly it’s becoming clear that he has the intangibles and winning mentality that could make him a really special player. We’ve seen it all season, the impact he has on the court just with his presence. His teammates play differently when he’s out there, they play like they think they’re going to win. Something we have lacked in a big guy for a long time, and it’s more than just rebounds or being a lob threat.
Not surprised, the nose looked destroyed. Specially compared to Lukas and Maxis, and he still got that lob! It was incredible to watch.
If you look at the clip it looked like WCJ just punched him the nose lol. I know it was an accident because the ball was right under his face but man it looked really painful.
