Sophomores now wmi will be on the rookie Squad palasa and soohan will be on Rose’s Squad which is a mix of sophomores and uh G league players now for Zohan this is the second consecutive time he’ll be making it and wimy overall is the 11th player in Spurs history to

Be selected to the uh Allstar event so yeah it’ll be uh good to see uh especially Sohan and wmy if they have to go one-on-one or defend each other throughout the game should be a fun uh event Now wmy isn’t done he’ll be then taking part in the NBA skill challenge

Now that’s going to be on Saturday February 17th tomorrow at 7:00 Central on TNT now he’ll be teaming up with top picks Anthony Edwards and Paulo bonero on one side now uh wimy did say when he was picked that he’s not going to practice for this event hopefully that

Doesn’t spell Doom and Gloom for him and he has a good showing at the event uh but he did reiterate that he wished that he was selected to the allstar Squad at Sunday game he called that that would have been a great achievement for him in just his

Rookie year so uh yeah that’ be fun to watch so Wy will be busy I’m pretty sure he’ll be making a lot of pit stops along the way appearances and whatnot now what about Don Barlo yeah he’ll be participating in the G League’s next up game that’ll be on Sunday February 18th

Show I say this which I’m pretty sure I I probably said the last time because I think it was probably two weeks since I’ve been on the show it’s always I feel like I having been forever but then really it’s only like two weeks two weeks right exactly yeah uh but as

Always everybody you know Casey’s a new dad so he has to do audio only dad duy catching up with him but uh he is here it’s all that matters and we’re going to be talking silver and black uh later on the show Casey is gonna be disc

Discussing with us what uh is going on in San Antonio sports uh because the NFL season is all but over Casey so now what Spurs but do you really want to go there I’m I’m trying to figure out I’m trying to figure that out too This year yeah yeah that’s true that is true that’s good got that yeah yeah there is that all right well that’s coming up later in the show but up first we’re going to be looking back at the first half of the Spurs rodo road trip Pros cons what stands out what doesn’t

Stand out what about some individual players Casey looking back at the first five games there are one and four by the way everybody uh what do you like dislike about the start of the Roary road trip I think it’s gone just about the way the way you’d expect um not not

Particularly great but have your moments where it does look good for for me I mean yeah the Toronto game of course is the Highlight or fact that it’s probably the first time all year they’ve looked dominant at least to that degree I mean I’m I’m I can probably look back but but

Thinking fresh off the top of my head I can’t think of a time they looked as consistently dominant uh from start to finish the Mavericks game though for me was was interesting because it started so well and it it felt like it was just like a microcosm of how the season has

Gone because sometimes they have these quarter these stretches where you’re like okay you know what they look they look good they might you turning the corner here you know to play to like this this like we’re looking at this team and we’re saying okay when when they got things going they can compete

This is not an 11- win team they look like they got the pieces falling into place and then all it takes is a halftime break and there goes the neighborhood there goes the neighborhood but that first half against the Mavericks game they did play largely pretty well but in the second half I

Mean yeah it they largely played it actually started in the second quarter because the second quarter the Spurs got out shot well scored 30 plus points to Dallas and then they only scored about 17 19 points San Antonio but it really it really you know second half what I mean it’s when it

Really escalated out of yeah yeah exactly well you you know when I look back at the first half of the rrt I I say you know what sure you know you it’s funny you saw the Mavericks game kind of as you said as kind of like a summation

Of the season and I look at that Toronto game and to me that’s my summation of the season is wow this team there’s no way they can be an 11 win team right now there’s no way if they’re cooking Casey they’re cooking and if if wmy is on his

Game and Devin is there and everybody’s contrib you you have soan defending Scotty Barnes and scoring as well Trey Jones double figure assist you know Kellin Johnson coming off that bench 20 plus points I mean maybe vasel isn’t wrong because after the game uh he spoke

With media saying if this team is going this team can compete with anybody and it’s just f it was just frustrating for me is because like why you know okay well who knows maybe Toronto was throwing the game Casey you know I can see why they would do it for that draft

Pick but man you’re like your your Spurs you know okay fine you’re not there yet but I know what all the that game in the ro road trip made me think about Casey is what what if they were to run it back what if all this team really needs is

Just a full season together and that’s about it and we’re cooking you know but then I go look at the Dallas game and then I say well star power Dallas has it Spurs don’t outside of wimy so it’s just so frustrating to see this team the

Crazy thing is is if you say that there’s probably a realistic chance that happens oh running the back yeah you know how many fans would be flipping tables if that happens they’ be livid fan base would be livid especially with all this Trey young chatter that’s been coming coming

About yeah fan Bas fan base would be livid yeah there’s a chance of it there’s a chance of it I mean I don’t know how one could say there’s not but yeah I guess that’s a conversation for a different day well we we we kind of had the conversation yesterday on locked on

Spurs but it just you know I just said yesterday that I would not be surprised if they were to pull that you know run it back who was just out of curiosity who was it yesterday he met his everybody’s favorite guy yeah no no but that’s much

Better yeah you know I would have saved that topic for him instead of me too okay well let’s push that outside but another thing that stands out for me is this can’t you know these are pro athletes right pro basketball players they should be able to know how to shoot

Right they they shoot themselves in the foot literally and figuratively 10 for what 10 for 40 was it against from the three line versus Dallas they shot 30 something percent only for the entire game uh and that’s not just the first time that happened against Dallas in

Earlier games in the road to road trip you saw it repeat itself it’s like if they lose Casey you can pretty much script what everybody’s going to say afterwards it’s we got beat we can’t shoot but man there’s good stuff coming from these young guys I mean that’s what

It comes down to been that way for two years now God has it not you know I mean it really has I mean you look at the last five games which is the ro road trip start they’re attempting 353 shots they’re only making 11 that’s good for 31% and

Then you know the only bright line in this I you know two things for me is wimy you know he looks like he busted through the rookie wall cuz my God he got smacked in the face didn’t he with that rookie wall Casey he hit it hard I

Felt like that kind of like flew under the radar the team being so bad kind of bailed him out from the from I don’t want to say criticism but the Optics of him really hitting that wall because he did hit it hard but everybody was so fast focused on the fact that

Team’s not good and kind of got a pass yeah know he don’t he he did he did a sweet dunk and a sweet block let’s take away from the fact that you know Nick Claxton out bodied him and and you know but exactly pass that’s all

We care about yeah but I mean look he did rebound uh pretty well you know with a triple double during the first half of the ro road trip you know joining the lights well with the blocks so he joins the likes of Robinson and dream maluan so good company there yeah he I’m

Yeah he’s fine you know I look back at the first five of the ro road trip and it’s just you know I I shouldn’t be surprised that they’re one and one and four to start it but I am surprised at the same time because I’m thinking okay we’re here at the Midway

Point of the Season you guys got to start clicking at least by something some sign of progress okay maybe you don’t win but hey look at you guys you were hanging in there for at least three and a half quarters something but it just feels like they

Plateaued where I don’t see them getting any better collectively maybe individually they do but collectively it just feels like they’re stalled Casey your thoughts uh that is very accurate yeah that and I I didn’t think about it because I’ve kind of been one of these

People uh what game was it maybe it was after Minnesota one of the games it was one of their better wins of the season season and and you had me on and I felt like I think it was the Minnesota game yeah where they won that g that wild game

Down the stretch yeah it was it was and I remember thinking to myself okay they’re not going to turn around and make the postseason here make the play in or anything like that but it feels like these things are starting to click a little bit more and and I would not be

Surprised if we see them play better Collective basketball the rest of the way and then they subsequently go out the next day against Washington and play one of the dumbest fourth you’ll ever see so I’m I’m I’m right there with you on that front that I I think this is

Probably what it is I mean it it’s yeah we’re we’re at two-thirds of the way through the season I to say it’s plateaued probably yeah well we have a couple more flashes here and there that’ll have a posing the conversation of whether or not theyve turn the corner

Or there’s only so many turn Corners left to turn when there’s 30 games left in year now we’re running out corns to turn here guys but yeah I I I think I think the the idea that they plateaued is pretty fair to say it was pretty fair

To say yeah yeah you know and as much look Devon Vel in the last few games during the road to road trip and even maybe a little bit before really has been coming on you know he had stringing games of double figure scoring um papovich was heaping Praise on him

Saying that he has taken the next step in his development on the court but you got a game like Dallas you know and okay fine I don’t expect these athletes you know and they’re human they’re gonna have bad nights everybody does but it just feels like okay Devin you know are we

Going back to that route or we’re going to start being inconsistent after you were consistent and then we got to talk about Kellin Johnson I mean did he show up to the game in Dallas Casey I mean it was bad it was pretty bad and that’s your highest paid spur right now

Casey yeah that there’s a couple stretches I I know I know Luca gets the better of just about everybody but man man yeah yeah I don’t I was gonna say Kellin Johnson stayed in Dallas but I don’t he never where were they before that they were in Toronto yeah Kell John

Kellin Johnson never left the country at Toronto that’s where Kellin was yeah wasn’t so as much as you know there might be some UPS you know there’s just too many Downs whether they individual individually you have Kellin with the stinker vallas you know Devin playing really well and then he

Kind of trails off a bit Wendy’s playing great you know after breaking through the rookie wall and then collectively this team you know was just getting beat and and I look at this the first half of the Roary road trip Casey and I say okay there’s got to be

Something good I mean there’s got to be something positive I was actually stunned by this maybe you might not be you know right now as we record this show the Spurs are the second best team as far as the facilitating assist they average about 29 per game and you’re

Thinking okay we’re everybody sharing the ball okay yay that’s good way it go Spurs um and by the way in the last five the road road trip they are averaging about 29 assists per game but then you look at the turnovers they average they’re averaging 15 turnovers in the

Last five so they’re not helping themselves you know they’re they’re shooting themselves they’re turning the ball over they’re not connecting on their threes they’re I know we should we chalk this up to a win Casey their plus minus you a point differential is a minus 9.6 so yay they’re not getting beat bad

Casey we’re we’re really digging here there we are we’re really digging here like I said we’re running out of Corners to turn we’re running out of H you know real estate to keep digging in yeah yeah so um there’s that Spurs fans you know they’re not getting beat and

Blown out in the last five but you know it’s still just difficult to swallow to see these uh these games and some of these games were winnable there’s some of these games okay fine you you you know Kyrie and Luca what are you going to do you know they probably do that to

Every team but yeah it’s just yes like you know and I was so optimistic about this this rodo road trip I thought okay this is it they’re going to turn that corner you know this is it the the the magical Elixir that is the road road trip that gets everybody grooving and

Everybody going and nope one and four so yeah yeah I mean yay maybe this is a good sign then Casey yay draft lottery odds how about that wow isn’t that a common theme that we’ve heard for two and a half years now my God has really that long Casey

Has it been that long feels that way okay okay okay be before we go to the next segment okay give me one one good thing that you like out of the last five to start the Roy road trip and it can’t be wimy oh damn Deon vasel had that cool

Ahead but hey that they got that three get their home for two and then they got go back on the road again they get them every year with that don’t they it’s like they come back home after the road trip for a cup of coffee and then
