Coby White is a LOCK for Most Improved Player of the Year
If you had said to me at the beginning of last season at media day hell even the beginning of this season at media day that Kobe white would be a top candidate for the most improved player of the year award and the B’s brightest success story of the season I would have
Said you were nuts because just two seasons ago Kobe white was having one of his worst seasons struggling to shoot the ball consistently poor decision- making on the court with a high turnover rate and one of the worst on offc court ratings on the team even I dumu the both
Second round pick rookie at the time was out playing coach and was getting more run in the rotation than he was on certain nights to think that in just two seasons Kobe white would completely turn his game around becoming one of the most consistent outside shooters in the NBA
Improving nearly every facet of his game from his ball handling Court Vision IQ defensive effort and awareness and above all his maturity and showing up as a leader for this team which they so desperately needed I won’t lie two years ago there was no doubt in my mind that
Kobe white was going to be getting traded once the Bulls brought in Lonzo ball Kus and they drafted rookie IO and with Kobe underperforming it seemed almost abundantly clear that Kobe’s days with the bulls were numbered but luckily for this Bulls front office who hit the accelerator button in wanting to compete
Now and moving on from some of their other younger players they decided to hold on to Kobe and let him develop as a player had Lonzo ball not gotten injured you would likely see Kobe potentially in another uniform by now but despite the Bulls and their crowded back court Kobe
Has always stayed ready focused never complaining never pouting about his varing role in minutes on the team he kept working and working and the work has finally played off but just how good has Kobe elevated his game this season and what makes him a prime candidate for

The 2019 draft the thought at the time was that Kobe would be the point guard for the future that the Bulls would need with their already established front court and Larry Markin and Wendell Carter Jr and to pair him with their budding star in the back court of Zack
LaVine but while the talent was evident of Kobe in his lone season at North Carolina there were questions about his inconsistent shooting high level of turnover and overall decision-making operating as a point guard we all remember the questions and some of that Still Remains True to this day is he a
Point guard or a shooting guard is he better playing off the ball or on the ball and while Kobe had a solid rookie season in which he went second Team all rookie finishing that year Kobe spent most of the season coming off the bench under Jim boin and acting as a scoring
Spark in the second unit as the years would go on Kobe’s role on the team changed in a multitude of ways from starting in a sophomore season under a new head coach and Billy Donovan to then being benched to then playing shooting guard behind Zack LaVine sometimes playing on ball sometimes off some
Nights he would get 30 minutes and sometimes he would only get 8 minutes last season while Kobe actually had one of his more consistent and efficient Seasons numbers wise he saw a reduction in his overall role with IO getting the start and then Patrick Beverly once he
Was brought in after the All-Star break Kobe’s touches last season were few and far between but when he did get them he made the most of it in his limited role coming off the bench let’s illustrate this for a second Kobe white last year averaged less than 10 points per game at
9.7 points shooting 44% and 37% from three on a little over four attempts per game he was also averaging just shy of three rebounds and three assists per game his true shooting percentage was 57% which was the highest we’d actually seen from Kobe at that time and for the
First time we had seen an overall positive defensive rating from Kobe who had previously always been criticized for his poor defensive effort as a guard with a short wingspan that said it was consensus that despite the down raw numbers this was Kobe White’s best season of his short career and this play
Earned him a contract extension going into restrictive free agency a three-year $33 million deal which even at the time was considered a bargain deal at just below the mid-level exception and now you could argue it’s one of the most team-friendly contracts in the entire NBA here’s the thing you
Can look at Kobe’s numbers this year and compare them to last year putting up near 20 points per game over five assists and 4.7 rebounds shooting 46% from the field and just shy of 40% from behind the arc at over seven attempts per game career highs in all categories
Mind you having the most efficient season of his career and quite frankly one of the most efficient Seasons among all guards in the NBA it’s not just the fact that he’s increased his output and the impact on the court by Advanced metrics though what’s been more
Impressive is his growth as a leader his Poise and maturity both on and off the court and I know that’s really not a factor that is looked at when assessing who are the most improved player of the year candidates it’s more so the year-over-year numbers and how much a
Given player has improved statistically and their impact on winning from one season into the next but Kobe being a vocal leader on the court navigating players on offense instructing them where they need to be being a voice in the locker room for Change and above all taking accountability responsibility and
Having the self-awareness to understand what he needs to do to improve as a player and as a leader Kobe will always be the first to admit that he made a mistake on a given play and that everything is a learning experience when it comes to being a reliable player for
The team in the final moments of the game the coaching staff and the team having confidence and Trust in him and slowly but surely being that League guard for the Bulls and the team leader that they can start building the franchise with is incredible when you go
From being a role player coming off the bench to a primary scoring option that defenses now have to build their own game plan around in ensuring you keep him locked down and not have him light you up from three when you go from being an afterthought around the league to now
Receiving All-Star consideration and one of the brighter young budding stars in the NBA in just a matter of one season that is a clear shoe in for being the most improved player of the year from a player who once was a net negative when
He was on the court to now being one of the most valuable players on the court between both teams is an incredible story of development and a rare success story for the Bulls of growing and building one of their own through the draft now yes I know a guy like Tyrese
Maxi who is having a stellar season and an All-Star this year as another top candidate for the most improved player of the year but Maxi was already improving greatly in having an incredible season last year and if we’re just strictly looking at year-over-year comparisons Kobe white is actually made
The bigger leap from one year to the next when you consider his role last season versus what it is today Maxi was still a focal point of the Sixers offense last year Kobe was not yeah shenon is right up there as well he’s also having a great season kaminga has
Stepped it up big time especially more recently Scotty Barnes Jaylen Johnson like yes there are a few players who have a case that have shown great improvement from last season to this year but when you look at the numbers from last season to this one and the
Change in their role as a leader the the impact they have on the court both within their own team but also how defenses guard Kobe now compared to last year to me and I know I’m biest but it’s a no-brainer that Kobe white is clearly the most improved player of the year
This season granted we’re only at the All-Star break and Kobe needs to maintain this level of play for the rest of the season but aside from his high level of minutes there really wouldn’t be much to indicate that Kobe is all of the sudden just going to fall off for
The rest of the season and start playing like trash to eliminate him from consideration for this award and if Kobe doesn’t fact win the award he’ll be the first Bowl to do so since Jimmy Butler in the 20145 season so let me know what you guys think who do you think wins the
Most improved player of the year award this season let me know in the comments hope you guys enjoy all the All-Star festivities this weekend as always be sure to subscribe and I will see you in the next one

This is laughable 6 months ago 90% of bulls fans wanted this guy traded
Give Ayo and Pat a chance to grow too
My 10 dollars are turning 160 lol but still odds are +450 so put ur money today
I still don't think it's a lock. He should be though.
I believed
I dont think its a lock. The thing going for Maxey is that they are a top 4 seed
Put your money on coby. still Postive 450 odds
Coby is probably my favorite Bulls player since the Rose/Noah/Deng/Hinrich group. Unfortunately, while I do agree he is the Most Improved Player. It seems the National Media don't even recognize Coby White and they do not watch Bulls games. Not sure who votes for the MIP. But at least right now, he seems like a longshot to win it. Also, imagine if Markannen stayed a Bull, that pairing of Coby and Lauri would be so nice!
Crazy cuz I put 50 cents on this bet a while ago & imma cash in $80 bucks 🤣🤣 A wins a Win
You can tell by a players pace of speed with the ball. When the game slows down for you in the NBA, scoring becomes easy. Facilitating comes easy. He’s already faster than most players in the nba. All he needs now is a consistent floater & 4 -6 free throw attempts per game.
Ok now do Ayo
Another star in the making that the Bulls will ruin the route that they are going. Great for Coby but the accolades don’t mean shit if you aren’t winning. We’ve had a MVP, DPOY, MIP, and COY before and nothing to show for it. Put it this way… If we miss the playoffs who will care???
I’ve been a long time follower and supporter of your channel since you’ve had around 300 followers. Born and raised in Chicago and living on the west coast as well. I know that you periodically go to Bulls games when they play Sacramento. I’ll be at the Sacramento vs Bulls game on 3/4. If you’re making an appearance, it would be nice to meet you. Anyways, God bless and may you continue to have success and have a great day!
Its nice actually seeing a bulls player finally start reaching his potential while he is still a bull lol
Happy Birthday Coby!!! 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
Great video and Coby will win MIP of the year award 2024. Let's go sub 0 🤗
It’s obviously Maxey. He is a legit #2 option on a title contending team and his numbers have elevated with his increased role. Coby is amazing and his improvement is impressive, but the Bulls are below .500 and his contributions havent releated to success unlike Maxey
Coby White is Ballin This Year
If Coby can continue playing like this and the bulls reach above .500 by the end of the season. He'll have a very strong case for MIP.
Must have something to do with Peter and the development department, whens the last time we saw a Bulls player actually develop ON the Bulls?
…and our expert media more than the fans.
Coby white replace Zach pretty easily. Doesn’t even make sense how confident he’s playing with Zach’s shots…
Bull better hurry tf up and get rid of the mid 3 so we can start building around our young guys.
This is why, as you've pointed out, the most DISASTROUS decision was to build around Zach and pay him all that money.
Look: You can't both be disappointed with getting the 7th pick, AND say that the talent doesn't aggregate at the top of the draft. If you prefer the higher pick, you CONCEDE that draft position matters.
High lotto picks are more multifaceted. Bogs who can shoot and dribble go higher than bogs who can't. Guards who can playmake and defend go higher than guards who can't.
Zach was picked down at 13 because he had a narrow skill set, and it did NOT expand before we maxed him.
The money that went to him prompted the decision to trade Lauri, and ALMOST cost us Coby too. We were fortunate to get him to re-sign at the price we did. Can you imagine if he had this leap BEFORE we re-signed him?
It takes more than being an efficient scorer to be the face of a franchise. You can be a sixth man and do that, especially if you're a defensive liability.

That's not Luka, Tatum, Trae, SGA.
A leader is someone who can turn low budget teammates into credible offensive decoy threats. An orchestrator of team-wide offence.
Zach was never, ever, that.
He should NEVER have been the foundation of this team.
Players we drafted, who rightly went higher in their drafts than Zach did in his were cheaper, and brought more to the table. Lauri was a starter averaging 19 ppg and 9 rbs in Year 2. What was Zach doing in his Year 2?
He has ALWAYS been a one-dimensional player. That's not a leader.
Under performing when Lonzo came…….not true…………..remember he was drafted as an underclassman during COVID as a SHOOTING GUARD. The Bulls wanted to make him a point guard but his position at UNC was shooting guard. However that transition is not easy and there are a lot of players out of the league because of that. Credit to him because that is not an easy move.
Coby stands out for sure, but tbh, whole youth is good when given the opportunity. Ayo & Pat are great too & Ayo improved so mucb this season. Julian Phillips (if the Refs let him play & don't blow a whistle on everything) is amazing too & would love to see way more of Bitim. Bitim is crazy on Defense &! Offense.
You making this video of Coby White proves anybody can change. đź’Ż
Coby White is the most improved player in the NBA. Don't know if he'll win the award, but he's definitely the most improved when u look at hows hes improved in virtually every aspect of the game.
I'm a Bulls fan, but no it's Maxey
He deserves it too
Coby has been the one bright spot this season, he’s come a long way with his consistency and am I glad he’s showing it as a bulls. He really deserves to get that award because it’s extremely tough for a young player to develop on the bulls
He better win it. Deserves it more than anyone else this year
You rock!
Would love to see Coby win MIP. However, i wouldnt be surprised if they gave it to Maxey, Haliburton, or Brunson.
if coby didn't break out this season, i probably would of taken a season break from watching bulls basketball
Coby white always been better than lonzo ball offensively since day one better at both passing pick and roll and finishing at the rim and shooting. Lonzo better at pushing the ball and defense. Teams fear his shooting and it opens up the floor
I'm very surprised that he's still a Bull to be honest. Having said that, I'm glad we didn't let him go. I never thought that was a good idea
