Dame is not washed

Oct 26 – Nov 14 šŸ“‰
22.8 PTS / 4.8 AST / 37% FG / 27% 3P

Nov 15 – Dec 31 šŸ“ˆ
27.0 PTS / 7.6 AST / 46% FG / 41% 3P

Jan 1 – Now šŸ“‰
22.9 PTS / 6.6 AST / 40% FG / 29% 3P

The main difference is Dame had a decline in production Oct 26 – Nov 14 šŸ“‰ but because of the way he was playing, when Dame requested to play the whole 1st and 3rd quarter like he did in Portland. The results showed from Nov 15 – Dec 31 šŸ“ˆ his production increase.

Then Doc came in and stoped the way Dame was playing by not playing him the whole 1st and 3rd quarter, his production significantly dropped again.

Thatā€™s my analysis, Dame is not washed itā€™s the way he is being used that is not allowing him to be the best version of himself.

October 26 – Nov 14 was understandable, and the Bucks didnā€™t play many games in that stretch.

He was promising until the new year.

Now weā€™re 1.5 months into the new year, going through the busiest, toughest part of our schedule, and heā€™s playing the worst basketball of his career.

  2. JustinF608

Of course not. A ton of these bucks fans wanted Jordan love benched early on in Packers threads.

  3. JPD050409

Hes definitely not lookin good. He looks uncomfortable, indecisive and frustrated. Hope he figures it out soon, i still believe he will

Being ā€œwashedā€ doesnā€™t mean you are just complete garbage now. ā€œWashedā€ guys are capable of returning to form for short stretches, but their recovery and athleticism falling off means these stretches are shorter and happen less often.

Uh huh, he’s just waiting for when the games REALLY matter… šŸ™„

  6. realmarcusjones

Holy fucking shit are we still doing ā€œdame isnā€™t being used correctlyā€

Dame Lillard needs to play like heā€™s a top five player at his position for this season to have the only acceptable outcome, a championship parade. If he doesnā€™t reach that level then heā€™s failed, and with the way the team is structured that simply is not okay.

Playing a set rotation with 0 flexibility is stupid. We canā€™t afford to sit both Giannis and Lillard so you are essentially asking Giannis and the rest of the roster to adjust just for lillard. Also, it allows the opposing coach to gamelan for the bucks knowing lillard will almost always play the same exact minutes, while preventing the bucks to matchup hunt with Lillard

I dont think we’re watching the same games. He’s missing easy shots and passing on taking even easier ones. Plus his defensive effort is non existant. Think I watched him lay on his back under a guy who got 5 of his own rebounds in a row before scoring.

I guess I just don’t correlate a shot not falling with being “washed”. Players don’t usually lose their shot when their washed, it’s their athletic ability that goes. And Dame still can get to the bucket and even throws it down from time to time. Thats not washed to me. As far as the actual reasons why he can’t all of a sudden hit a 3 anymore? No clue.

i get that missing buzzer beaters will make the fickle crowd around here fester with frustration.
It seems to my eyes that Bucks fans were suspicious and disappointed by the trade to begin with…
and they feel they were promised a specific form of hero –
someone to make really tough bail-out shots when the rest of the offense isn’t…
people feel, and perhaps rightfully so, that he was hired to do that.

Missing buzzer beaters means he’s not living up to their expectations.
Any missed 3pt shot means they are suspicious.
Any sign of mistake or failure is met with a massive scrutiny and suspicion. Many Bucks fans are simply looking for reason to confirm their preconceived distrust and dislike of Lillard.

Add in the complete collapse of any sort of defensive ability from the Bucks and people obviously start missing Jrue Holliday.

The inability of the Bucks to have any sense of defensive consistency
allows young, spritely teams to completely confuse and break up coverages, ending in emphatic dunks, open 3pters and soul crushing mis-match jumpers.

This is the hugest problem I see when I watch, and i’ve watched every game.

I certainly do not in any way believe this defensive failure is specifically Lillards fault.

They got a rookie coach who seemingly only practiced the team to go towards a defensive scheme like he had with the Raptors.

The personnel was not right for such things.

Since then, the whole team has been in a chaotic scramble trying to figure out a better way to defend…

with very little time to practice…

and then the coach was fired…

Doc Rivers was given a team in defensive shambles.

The Bucks have had a couple of DAYS to try to figure out this shit show.

The team has responded a bit, but still gives up too many corner 3s, Brook suddenly has to defend two guys rushing the basket, defenders get confused when the opposing team does multiple roll actions and passes around the arc…

you see it time and time again…

Dame isn’t an elite defender, for sure
but he and the rest of the team are too often left completely confused as to what they are supposed to do on defense.

This takes time, reps, practice, principles, training, and lots of failure, watching tape together, implementing new concepts …

All during a tough schedule with teams hungry to expose the weakness.

    Dame is not fucking washed.

This fanbase is in a blind rage and in complete denial of the actual problem:

    DEFENSE.

yes he’s a very wealthy person but you can still have empathy for someone going through so much change both professionally and personally

(i’m not giving up on this year but i think he’ll bounce back next year despite being a year older)

  13. Iā€™ve watched Dame for over a decade. He looks out of shape and depressed. Iā€™m sure itā€™s 100% the mental toll his divorce is causing. Heā€™s a pro and will get right back in track. I

  14. RationalRaccoon363

Seems pretty washed to me. Dude can’t shoot or play defense.

  15. full_idiot

ā€œCoach! Look! Thatā€™s the Redditor that said I was washed.ā€

  16. CuredPlutonium

If heā€™s not ranked top 4 in his position by end of season the bucks will not make it out of 2nd round

Yall can bring up TS% and all them other number but the guy doesnā€™t look like a top 75 player of all time at all

1-6, 2-9, 3-13 are his new normal numbers from 3

Heā€™s not Steph, and he really doesnā€™t create as much as I thought he was going to

  17. SoCalMemePolice

I say heā€™s washed after games when he pisses me off but in reality we wonā€™t know until after this season. Realistically if the reason heā€™s in this slump is really his divorce and personal issues, thatā€™s not getting solved after all star weekend, but rather when he has time to step away from basketball and address his family life

  18. Competitive-Sea-876

This divorce shit is such a tired excuse. I just donā€™t buy it based on the timelines of when everything supposedly took place.

Enough with the coping, The fact is he is playing like total dookie and needs to figure it out.

  19. If he would just shoot the wide open threes instead of passing to Portis, I think his stats would be much better.

  20. okokokok999999

His marriage is affecting him I guess

It is hard to live in a new city without your family

  21. stevenomes

Some of his shots wide open he still misses. Just seems like something is off.

  22. Bro brought out the linkedin emojis we cookedĀ

  23. Maxximus02

On the playing time details, correlation is not causation. A top75 all time player needs to make shots regardless of when his rest time is. To have your shooting dip so bad because of that specifically i need something beyond some interesting numbers.

Anyone ever notice doc never uses the horns out play?

Anyone ever notice doc only sometimes pushes the rest of the team to keep passing the ball quickly, creating space and ball movement?

Docs defensive strategy is way better than AG. But it seems like his rotations aren’t as good as AG, and his offensive schemes underutilize potential too
