Evan Mobley and the Cavs are LEGIT ft. Ben Pfeifer – The Junkyard Pod, Cleveland Cavaliers Podcast

Mitchell has his head Up get that weu out of Here welcome to the junkyard pod hosted by Tony pesta there is no Jackson Flickinger with us today Jackson is currently taking his cat whose name happens to be Kyrie to a behavioral therapist to address some locker room issues going on with their new cat I’m

Not making this up uh Kyrie is being a troublemaker from what I understand so we’re wishing Jackson the best and I hope at the least he manages to get a few first round picks in exchange once uh Kyrie demands to be traded but while Jackson is gone we still have an

Exciting episode lined up because Corey Walsh is making his Grand return back to the Pod after a brief Hiatus Corey welcome back I wish my terms weren’t contingent on Jackson’s cat and Kyrie causing a nuisance but you know what it’s great to be back it’s good to have

You man but that is not all because today we have a very special guest Ben feifer he’s here to talk some Cavs basketball the Evan Mo development and push the good old Isaac auro agenda welcome to the show Ben absolutely thanks thanks for having me on crazy to

Hear about your friend’s cat I mean I I would recommend keeping them away from any Amazon links but otherwise I mean wishing wishing a recovery but yeah thanks for having me on we’ve been trying to lock this down for for a while now yeah yeah it’s great man I’ve been super

Excited to do this pod uh and yeah Jackson just make sure you keep your watch your cat’s browsing history you know those those rabbit holes can catch up on anybody so uh but in all seriousness you can find the links to all of our work in the description below

And if you want to be in our Twitter group chat all you have to do is subscribe to the junkyard pod on YouTube apple or Spotify send me proof and I’ll get you added so for today’s episode let’s start here gavs have been playing the best basketball in the NBA since mid

December they have the highest win percentage to go with the third best offensive rating and the number one ranked defense we’ll start with Ben what has impressed you most about the Cleveland Cavaliers this season Cav’s so good I mean the obvious answer is just their resilience in the face of in the

Face of injuries but I think the the Rost It’s a combination of the roster construction the additions they’ve made um in guys like stru and yang as well as bicker staff and their ability like be flexible and to mess with lineups and to really succeed like the the the the

Formula this here of one of the small guards Donovan Garland just surrounded by Shooters and or Defenders has been hell for teams um it’s like a more it seems like a more like sustainable version of like Helio ball since all of the guys are either like Elite Defenders

Right you got a Coro Dean w Is Awesome Allan and Moy obviously and then like stru has been a revelation for them as a guy who not only is a great off ball shooter but can also like pass a little bit can can make some plays off the

Bounce so I think the way that they’ve balanced their their lineups and their rotations to me has been really impressive I mean I’m sure I haven’t followed them as closely as you two exactly but from whenever I’m watching the Cavs it seems like they’re doing a good job getting guys you know spacing

Out Donovan and like Carris for example who’s been pretty good this season but in my watches right or getting Allen in good spots with with Donovan as a partner and pick and rolls and stuff and he’s had some nice chemistry with stru as well and I just generally enjoyed how

They’re rolling out their guys and man it’s just like everyone’s playing well um we’ll talk about it more but aoro is look is playing confident Donovan’s having like maybe the best season of his career like it’s just it’s just fun Hoops it’s really good I’m a big fan of this Cavs team

Absolutely yeah definitely it’s been such a fun month and a half uh for this Cavs team I think you really nailed you hit on basically everything I love that you gave the quick JB shout out because I know a lot of Cavs fans have different opinions about JB but the way he has

Handled adversity over the last month and a half when this team really felt like they could this season could have taken a sharp turn in the wrong direction but they rallied together everyone is just playing such great basketball from the role players to the emergence of Sam Merrill to uh you know

Donovan Mitchell having probably his best season uh defensively he’s been great playmaking the only thing that’s really taken a small step back is his three-point shooting but he’s still a dead shooter and the Cavs are just playing all around great basketball Cory I want to switch this over to you

Because the last time you were on the podcast the Cavs were below 500 and the title of that episode was Cavs in crisis now I was click baiting a little bit but the Vibes were not great at that time got every once in a while you gotta

Clickbait in the YouTube game but the Vibes weren’t great since that November episode the Cavs are 28- 10 which is the third best record behind the Clippers and and Boston they’ve really turned their season around so Corey what have you seen from them and and where are you

On this Cavs team this Cavs team just embodies team basketball to a level that I don’t think we have been able to see with success from this team in the past I feel like past iterations of these teams have had examples where they feel like there’s an equal dispersion of

Points but it hasn’t necessarily led to success and this team is doing it on both sides of the ball there’s been times where I feel like we I feel like the more you distance yourself from last year you kind of realize that yes there was some dead weight in the rotation

That had to be thrown out at times just so you can let your other quality players take breaks and rest and I feel like this team is so unique in the sense that I don’t feel like I find myself in a situation anymore when someone’s name

Gets called off the bench that I feel like you’re kind of taking a step back in sorts me and Tony were just talking about before the Pod how it truly feels like this team offensively can run the same sets with different players which is truly like usually teams have to kind

Of scheme around their bench rotations and try to figure out ways to get any offense to generate so the starting lineup doesn’t come back to an absolute mess and I feel that JB and the staff have just done an incredible job with a spreading out the rotations and not

Making it such a topheavy minute based rotation to where it’s like God I hope Donovan is on tonight because if Donovan’s not on then the rest of the team is going to Drudge behind it seems like Donovan can have a good night and the team still performs well it doesn’t

Feel like it’s onea and then you have to go all the way down to option three for something to hit I mean we’ve had an example is a great example like Ben said is stru I feel like streu for the duration of the Season you look at his

Shooting splits you would think just by looking at those he’s not having a great season because he’s brought it you think of struse as a one-dimensional shooting type and if he doesn’t have gravity from generating shots then he isn’t what the the Cavs kind of signed up for but streu

Has been checking every box he’s been active defensively he’s been sticking with his many ran I think I believe he ranks like the top percentile defensively for his position and then he also when he’s on offensively it’s like you’re getting a complete player that can impact both sides of the floor so

This team is just like astounding and I just hope that the overall continuation of Team ball on both sides can go through and translate to playoff back basketball because we all know once postseason hits uh lineups trim and we might not see these fun lineups getting

Thrown out as the team is just trying to answer whatever opponent they have in front of them it’s a very different game once you get to the postseason but uh the team ball is is a great Point since December 15th the Cavs are eighth and assists per

Game if you compare that to last season they were 19th so the ball has just been moving around a lot better I think Donovan Mitchell one of the best areas or the biggest areas of growth that he has shown is as a playmaker and trusting his teammates and part of that is also

Just having better teammates to trust not to throw shade on anybody but it’s easier to throw the ball to Max stru than you know Lamar Stevens sorry John for hating on your boy but we we talked about in the last episode about Max dreu and kind of jetty Osman as a comparison

When you think of Max Dru isn’t shooting the ball that well but you can still have him out there when he’s not hitting shots whereas last year with Jetty it kind of depended on if he was making those shots or not he wasn’t giving you all of the other stuff that streu has

Been giving you and that’s really true for just everyone on this roster top to bottom They’re all playing such great basketball on both ends of the floor everyone is completely bought in and it’s made the Cavs the best team win percentage wise at least over the last

Month and a half uh I want to move in here and kind of talk bigger picture now are the Cavs legit contenders in the East or really just where would you place them in the East are they in that Boston walk tier or are they somewhere

Below we can start with Ben I think if not in that tier they’re like right right beneath them I know people are going to be like oh last year in the playoffs they were you know they were they were atrocious and that’s true but this is a very different Cavs team not

Only in like the new players but like internal developments from guys like Donovan Mitchell and Isa aoro are going to be really big um and I think the way that they’ve been able to function without their Stars the way they’ve been able to like have diverse offensive and

Defensive approaches use a lot of different lineups and outside of like again Boston is obviously the the main Contender and like Milwaukee like is has a lot of problems um one they have Dark Rivers now and like I think Cleveland compared to a team like New York who’s

Obviously also rolling right now but New York feels more reliant on having one or maybe two two guys just going off and being really hot in terms of shot making when the Cavs can win in so many other ways right it’s not just like you have

To rely on Donovan or Garland to to go crazy and obviously it helps if if he’s having 50o games or whatever but the Cavs can just Spam side pick and rolls and stuff with with like struer Garland and Jared Allen or they can go to moy on

Some nights or they can go to their secondary guys and I think that makes them is going to make them really sustainable in in the playoffs offensively and just having that experience of last year with this like the same core I think is really valuable that they’re going to have that

Experience of like what didn’t work and what kind of LEDs their downfall and you know hopefully the the coaches and and the the front office are aware of that and they’re going to game plan around that but yeah I mean aside from the Celtics I I don’t really think there’s

Any team that I would like definitively take over the Cavs probably the bucks if I had the bet but like I think the Cavs would probably be third for me I don’t know if that means they’re like legit title contenders this year because that’s obviously a high bar but I don’t

Think it’s like impossible even if unlikely yeah that’s completely fair I often get attacked for being The Optimist on Cavs Twitter which is funny because I’ve consistently said that this team is at least a year or two away from really really competing for a championship but yeah I mean they’re

Showing all of the right stuff right now I still wouldn’t pick them to win a championship I wouldn’t pick them to make to the finals even I think if they run into Boston they’ve matched up well with Boston surprisingly but I still wouldn’t pick them to beat Boston I

Would be hesitant with Milwaukee just because of the pure star power like when you get to the playoffs having Giannis and Dame on your team is gonna help a lot more but I mean they’re playing as good of basketball as you could ask like just Donovan historically is a huge

Playoff Riser as well like throughout his carew’s been phenomenal in the playoffs and like you have that established star who’s been good in the playoffs before yeah and that was one of their downfalls against the Knicks was that Donovan just didn’t have his usual series I think we we talk about the

Knicks series all the time so I won’t go into it again but if Donovan just has a regular Superstar series they might push that to six or seven maybe they even win but we won’t get into all that unfortunately the situation they found themselves in with how last year’s

Playoffs went uh no matter what they do in the regular season they’re going to have that chip on their shoulder because they were a good regular season team last year and of course we know what happened against Knicks I think the difference is the process looks a lot

Better this year I think the Cavs look better uh on both ends of the floor I think they’ve been playing better I think The Supporting Cast makes more sense around the core 4 and you just have to hope that that core will step up and play the way that we expected them

To play last year because the simple truth is they just kind of played below expectations on top of all of the other things that the Knicks did to them but let’s move in and talk about that core because Evan Moy is back after his knee injury and kind of looks better than he

Ever did before uh he’s had a really really strong return after that injury and I know Ben is a huge Evan Moy fan so I want to ask you how high are you on Evan Moy and where do you see his long-term cealing um I am quite high on on Evan

Mobley for sure and I agree that he’s been excellent in in the games that he’s look back even like like a game like the Kings game the other night where he didn’t like score as much he was obviously like an awesome passer in that game super impactful on defense and I

Think the the improved spacing the better role players is is going to be really helpful for him to to continue to find his stride um like his chemistry with Garland has always been good I think there’s G to be some stuff with stru but yeah I still believe in in Moi

A lot like I think it’s easy to forget how young he is because of how like how long it feels like he’s been around and the fact that he’s been like one of the best defenders in the league since like the second he stepped in and there’s

Still so many like big areas that he can improve despite being a very good player like his scoring in like eight to 12 feet um being a very notable one like I don’t necessarily think he has to become a three-point shooter to be like viable

As a a great offensive player but if he can like be knocking down those mid-ranges which I am kind of surprised that he’s as bad as he is at that based on what he did in high school and college which is unfortunate obviously but it is what it is but just like

Having the guy who’s like legit seven-footer who handles like that who passes like that who drives and finishes like that um who works in transition like he does and turns defense into offense there’s it’s just so valuable and especially now that I think more than ever the Cavs have the pieces to

Unlock that they have they can play them in lineups with great spacing or with other great Defenders they have a bunch of good passers on the roster which they and like not haven’t had in the past with Moy so I’m very I’m still very high

On Moy like I think his ceiling is still pretty ridiculous I mean he’s he’s already shown that he can be like a top three vote getter for defensive player of the year right he’s already an elite elite elite top end Defender and then anything you add on to that is is just

Kind of gravy but yeah I’m I’m very happy he’s back and looking good um the low like the low pickup rip throughs that he’s pulled out in a couple of these recent games absolutely sick like where did that come from but looks like he was working on that while he was gone

Which keep keep busting out new moves like let’s let’s see it let’s see it I agree let’s see how crazy this can get if he can start doing sham Gods like Wy I mean maybe people will finally start to see what what I’ve been seeing but uh

I I agree with everything you said uh I’m glad you mentioned the three-point shooting because I was going to ask that uh a lot of people view Mo’s three-point shot as like The X Factor in his development I kind of think it’s more of like a cherry on top really because I

Think especially if he can if he starts making those mid-range shots I’m not really concerned about the three-point shot at all if he can do that uh he has been a little bit of a disappointment from that zone when you consider how good he was in the past and just his

Form looks good like when he lets go of those shots they feel good and they just aren’t really going in yet he is shooting 77% from the free throw line this year which is 10% higher than last year so something’s there something is starting to click for him a little bit

In terms of that shot so hopefully he continues to expand on that and top three in defensive player of the year last year at 22 years old I believe it’s like yeah people take for granted how quickly he became one of the best defenders in the world like it really

There wasn’t much of a transition period three months older than he’s three months younger than me which is insane and I hate thinking about it but like yeah like the fact that he it’s easy to get like bored with players like him who are so good so quickly and then it’s

Like oh you know they’re not developing when in reality Moy is was better like halfway through year one than a lot of rookies and young players are in year three like yeah exactly I mean that’s that’s well said I think we take for granted his fluidity for a seven footer

Because we see wanyama and chat now it’s like you’re not supposed to do a rip through move at that size like you’re not supposed to be that good moving off the dribble uh Corey where are you at in Mo’s development how what have you been seeing from him I’ve been pretty pumped

With Mo’s development thus far I mean because you kind of think about like you you watch the Cavs without Moy looking at them defensively holding their own and you’re like my God imagine adding a runner up for defensive player of the year to this lineup what could he even

Happen it’s then it’s like if the Cavs defense stayed the way it was with everyone kind of playing a team sense of basketball allowing Isaac to kind of operate more freely in sets imagine having two potential all NBA Defenders on the floor at the same time

Then you see Moy just kind of doing freelance thing moving around causing disruption in the center and then creating a transition off of it I mean how many players in the league can you see rip through the ball and then just take it up the court and just decide you

Know what this is a on man fast break let’s just clear a lane and just do it in three dribbles or less I mean there maybe you would say that’s like a Giannis esque skill and the fact that Moy is even showing those flashes is just it’s like jawdropping at times you

Kind of just like said you because the expectations were so high coming out you kind of like because he matched those expectations it’s not as exciting as being surprised that someone is like rising to that level so early and now that we’re seeing it on a much more

Complete defensive team because yes the defense was good last year according to most metrics but it just the defense feels like more suffocating this year than it has in past years it feels like teams are constantly struggling quarter to quarter see them alterating their schemes just tring trying to crack some

Part of this defense and thus far as we saw even just yesterday with Sacramento like the kings are struggling through three quarters and then it was kind of like we’re gonna throw everything at you in the fourth quarter if it just doesn’t work I guess we’re packing our bags

Early and going home they held them to 18 points in that fourth quarter it was just suffocating defense crazy and uh yeah they turn it on in ways that few teams can right yeah I mean when you have Moy who’s just basically a cheat code help Defender like even if the rest

Your team stinks defensively that guy’s going to raise your ceiling and then I mean with the way the Cav has been playing as a unit if you if you if you’re Donovan Mitchell and you’re putting in effort and you have Moy and Allen on your backside like that’s a

Pretty damn good defense uh speaking of good defense let’s go ahead and transition and talk about everyone’s favorite blossoming 3 and D Wing Isaac aoro I’m kind of joking a little bit I don’t think he’s officially become the three and D Wing but he has had a great

Season Corey I’ll give you a PO potential Victory lap if you remember when we did our hot takes at the start of the year your one of your hot takes was that aoro would play so good the Cav wouldn’t be able to afford him in the summer not sure we’ve officially reached

That point but it’s heating up a little bit what have you seen from aoro I’ve seen a Hoops hype article that says otherwise all right he’s now considered a two-way Wing so true that’s a Victory lap within itself who knew we were even gonna get there we thought it was just

Gonna be a oneway wing Isaac has shattered expectations I um I’ve been so pumped with the way that aoro has been playing I feel like for the longest time when me Tony and Jackson would text all Jackson whatever say is how can he be improving if he’s just making shots in

The corner or it’s either he makes the shots in the corner or he’s getting ignored in the quarter and there’s no in between and I think you know to give Jackson credit I think Isaac hurt him because his offense has changed quite drastically I mean when is the last time

You saw in the same game is think a Coro not only run a pick and roll set but multiple not necessarily to success that’s T to be determined but the fact that the set was run is where the magic truly lies hey that’s that’s a stew

Going you know what I’m saying the uh the fact of the matter is the fact that aoro is Shady like I was telling Tony I thought you think because of the way he’s succeeding offensively that he has drastically increased volume but it actually is kind of staying the same at

A higher percentage but it’s also that his spots are changing drastically I think he shot from the non- corner for three-o percentage 3% of his shot profile last year and it’s already up to 13 so the fact that he’s taking at the top of the break transition threes did

You ever have that on your 2024 bingo card for Isaac aoro I I certainly did not and the way that the team has more confidence in him I just don’t feel like there can be a way in which he’ll be played out so early of a playoff series

As time goes on not only ignoring the like all defensive campaign he’s put putting on because obviously that’s highly valuable in a defensive uh playoff series but the fact that offensively he just is moving without like second guessing every single action he does has made unlocked like an

Aggressive version of a coral that infinitely makes him a better player because there is some threat out there besides if he’s hitting shots I guess I have to pay attention to it man I just I can’t believe I’m in the presence of two other aoro believers I’ve never felt so

Welcomed in my life it’s it’s such a relief after doing most these EP with Jackson but Ben I know you’ve been a long-term aoro believer so I just I want to let you spread the gospel I’ve been an aoro believer since um April 13 2019 according to my Twitter um so it’s been

A it’s been a long ride for him but I Echo a lot of what you said um about his confidence increasing he took I’m I’m I’m looking at it right now he took 20 above the break 3es all season last year and he’s already taken 31 this year like

It is a Hu even though like the even though like the the volume like isn’t super different I do think like the film absolutely confirms that the role and the confidence has changed he is getting to the rim more often which the numbers do back up and a Coro playing with

Confidence as a driver is like just as if not more important to me than like the shooting because like he’s he’s quietly been a good shooter like basically his whole career like he’s been like 35 Plus percent since his sophomore year but the issue has just been the total record scratches when

He’s asked to attack a close out or make a decision we saw that of course in the playoffs last year where if you ignore a cororo it’s not just that he can’t hit the shots that he can’t dribble or make decisions off of them but this season he’s looked so confident like attacking

Off ball as you said we’ve seen a couple like pick and rolls or above the break threes but the the big thing yeah to me has just been him being really confident attacking like we’ve seen him hit some great like Euro steps and controlled Closeouts and should just like like this

Looks like college aoro who was like a really great finisher and had some really good stuff going to the basket that just hasn’t been able to translate into the NBA but it’s it’s here and I think his passing has been a lot better this year um which he’s finally I think

That’s a skill he’s always had that he’s finally unlocking with the confidence he’s been great attacking downhill and hitting lay down passes to to Jared Allen and whoever else and that just allows his defense to shine even more right he’s not just a specialist that you have to kind of game

Plan around he’s a functional part of the offense that you know you don’t need to like baby him really he can he can function as a spot-up shooter he can work in transition he can be like a tertiary Handler and that’s while also providing all Defense level impacts

And which I think we probably all agree that he’s been this year um like he he’s been so ridiculous on defense this year man it’s crazy um just we keep talking about the Kings game like some of the possessions he had on Fox were unbelievable like he’s been he’s been so

Incredible on defense I have unbelievable the the dunker spot uh shouted out these two stats that I’m just gonna steal from them Coro is allowing the second fewest points per possession on dribble handoffs defending dribble handoffs and he’s the 12th best defender in pick role this season for a

Minimum of a certain amount of possessions I don’t remember exactly what they said but aoro has just been unbelievable on defense I hope he gets the all defense the all defense nod I wouldn’t be like super upset if he didn’t because there’s just so many great Wing Defenders but I defense such

Like a such like a reputation based award like as much as any other like award or acolyte set it’s just like what do people think of you as a defender or what they thought of you in the past but I mean I I think he’s I don’t know like

Outside of outside of like herb Jones who I think has been like phenomenal this year like a Coro like you can make the case for him being as good as any other Wing defender in the league like I think he’s up there with like ogan and Obi and and Jaden McDaniels and all

Those guys with the way that he’s just suffocated players on the ball one of the best players in the whole league guarding around screens and dribble handoffs like like that number that I didn’t know of but absolutely like confirms with the it test um and obviously like a always been a great off

Ball help Defender as well and having that along with Jared Allen and and Evan Mobley and all the other guys just like a crazy A crazy Treasure Trove wealth of greatness they have there it’s it’s pretty it’s pretty great yeah especially when you kind of like take those stats

Into mind these are against probably the main threat offensively of every team the Cavs face up against I mean I don’t know how deep those uh metrics dive into like difficulty of matchup when set in those lineups but we all know that aoro since he has dawned the wine and gold

His mission has been to just be stuck on the alpha offensive option of every team and I I wrote this in an article that’s going up that like for years it was kind of the case of like aoro was the Band-Aid on the huge crack in the wall

Being like all right we got our we got our one fix Isaac aoro is gonna go up against your best option but the rest of the team that’s kind of a mystery how they’ll handle everything else but now that he is kind of surrounded by a great

Defensive team from top to bottom that’s just locked in possession by possession it’s kind of like he can try things and be more aggressive in ways that if he kind of took the bait on something that he would be severely punished and the team would kind of Crash to whatever had

To be done to recover from the risks he could take but now that the team is just so locked in it’s almost like he can freelance defensively the same way Moy does and having two of those types of Defenders just causes such disrup ition in fits like the Cavs can stick him on

The best opposing ball handler and feel completely comfortable and confident that he’s going to do as good a job of anybody and that’s really important when you get to the playoffs if you’re facing a Damen Lillard a Jaylen Brunson wherever it may be having a guy who can

You just feel confident in defending the other team’s opposing ball handler at the point of attack that’s really important and I do think that aoro throughout his development has been a little like he’s been really a victim of the fact the Cavs timeline sped up so

Much on him people forget he just turned 23 years old if he was in a different environment where he was able to work on his offensive game a little more rather than I mean we’ve talked about it so much the last two years he’s he’s been

Just stuck in the corner kind of forced to be that space that floor spacer guy that he wasn’t really supposed to be coming out of college that was supposed to be like a long-term thing for him it was basically like year or two it was like hey you got to start becoming a

Volume shooter buddy or you’re going to be on the bench and now that he has started to take little baby steps here and there whether it’s shooting from above the break uh being more of a a threat and transition like he’s doing enough to where he can stay on the floor

He’s he’s good enough offensively to stay on the floor and now you’re getting the best out of him which is his defense yeah because I I mean having the offense unlocks the defense right because like teams can’t totally ignore him um like they they can’t just game

Play him out and he can be on the floor more he can be on the floor in more types of matchups there aren’t like certain line there are fewer like lineups that he just can’t play against because of the offense and having like to deal with that defense for 48 minutes

A night or however many minutes a night he plays is it’s no easy task for any team even great offenses like we’ve seen the Cavs lock down all year and I think aoro while you know Moy is like the interior defense anchor centerpiece it’s as much about aura’s ability to deny

Drives and to deny screen advantages and to help and to do his own health defense as well when when other guys get beat too I think we covered everything uh I do have a bonus question before we head out and end the episode for our survivor

Afficianado I have to know oh God this a spoiler I swear to God which current NBA player would have the best chance of winning a game of Survivor and I’ll give you a hint for my answer it’s a former Cleveland cavaliere but I’ll just I’ll let you pick whoever you want and then

I’ll give you mine like a like who has the best chance at like winning the whole game yeah ah man um so my instant thought goes to people who are like very like social and personable um my my my gut first thought was was Tyrese Maxi would probably be very good on Survivor

Um seems like seems like a good guy can can make people laugh you know but you also have to be like smart too um and like maybe it’s a like incorrect to think that like high IQ basketball players would be good like social strategists um I mean can I I we saw how

It went with Scott Pard and that was you know he had his moment in in in the spotlight there or like Cliff Robinson so it’s like a lot of throwback power forwards I guess um yeah so I don’t know I don’t know w wow now I I do have I do have a

Name I’m going to throw I’ll make good if it’s someone who’s like not that famous you know like the best player of every season doesn’t win that’s like kind of the reality get that’s that’s that’s very true they very very often that’s that’s the truth I’ll let Tony go

But I also have a guess uh suggestion okay so let me let me make the case for this guy okay I have to go Jetty Osman because not only is he going to be a beast in the challenges which every NBA player would be a beast in the

Challenges but J’s kind of like an Jed’s like an unsuspecting Beast you know he’s not like a super hulking intimidating guy and most importantly I think he would dominate the social game everybody loves Jetty he’s gonna find a way to form alliances that you wouldn’t expect

This is where I insert the picture of him Kawai Durant LeBron right like he’s gonna find a way to make those power alliances and the only potential downfall is that he might be too lovable he might be too much of a threat they might try to take him out before the

Final Tribal Council you know you can’t beat him but not likeable but not like too lovable like I could see Jetty getting completely blindsided by his number one Alliance and it’s just a heartbreak and he leaves and it’s just it’s one of those emotional ones is that

Guyo is that guy too trusting like yeah he might be a little naive for all we know but it’s got to be Jetty for me I feel like the answer for me is just so obvious and I feel so strongly about it I feel like Jared Allen would be a

Dominant Survivor player this guy he’s as charismatic as it gets he definitely would dominate puzzles because it seems like that dude just has so many interests outside of basketball I mean he’s a video game guy he reads books he has to be very smart I get feel like he

Would dominate the puzzles obviously NBA athlete athletic I feel like but like you just said for Jetty it’s like how he’s like you’ll get to like the final six and then it gets to the point where it’s like hey man Jared’s real likable he didn’t get that immunity idol so we

Should probably like try to Blindside him out when he see I I feel like Jared Allen would be the one to find the hidden immunity idol that could come into play if anyone it I doubt anyone like would know this but it’s like yeah are we gonna

Give this guy who just signed like a hundred million dollar contract extension like that one season pitcher who want a minimum contract is gonna be good at Survivor see I I could jar I could see Jarrett being one of those guys who you know he he seems like

He loves his video games and stuff I could see him having a rough time out there and maybe he lets the team down in a challenge and he says you know what the lights were brighter than expected I let you guys down I want I’m ready to go

Home he he’ll just he won’t quit but he’ll say you guys should vote for me and I mean recently survivors had a lot of like basketball type challenges like throw balls in like buckets or something or to throw the Coconuts into the net and some of those older challenges I’m

Not on the newer seasons of Survivor yet so I haven’t seen those but jar would be good at those he’s showing that that touch from the mid-range this year so right as in if they’re asking him to shoot threes on Survivor like d hand real quips that’s all I feel

Like Jared’s witty enough that he would give probes the taste of his own medicine you know that’s a good answer I could see it you know it keeps the tradition of of of big men going on Survivor so yeah definitely and if anyone’s like that old school Power

Forward SL Center type it’s still Jared Allen uh but that’s going to do it for this episode of the junkyard pod I want to thank everyone for tuning in if you want to be in our Twitter group chat all you have to do is subscribe send me

Proof I will get you added Corey welcome back Ben thank you for coming on it was a great time uh thanks for taking the time out to do this and go Cavs

  1. 2 things … Cavs defense is not clear from formula data, net rating, need to use opposing players shots attempted vs their average shot attempts, per game. Ochoro killed Dame in last Bucks game. … Less shots with more misses. 2. Cavs are playing better than Boston! Cavs DEPTH is 2 bodies deeper. Less minutes for starters in remaining months equals healthy legs. Strus shooting improved because he's not playing 38 minutes!

  2. We should all be SUPER high on Evan Mobley.

One year from now hes going to have a consistent, league average 3 point shot, and a faster first step allowing him to attack the rim.

Those 2 things are ging to open up the whole fking world for him.

  3. As a Cavs fan it’s a bit too early to tell if they are legit or not they still need to back it up with success in the playoffs.

  4. Die hard Cavs and Survivor fan, thanks for the dialogue!

Best non-professional athlete to earn rotation minutes in the NBA: Gary Hawkins. He went to Eastern Michigan, but didn’t play basketball.
