Good morning everybody good evening good afternoon folks welcome back to another watch party it is the Nets taking on the San Antonio Spurs those in chat make sure to say a quick hello um hope you’re all doing fine and dandy um we I need to get this eyebrow just lined up okay um

So interesting sort of game today I say I say every game is a must-win um this is like a game you really need to win because the Spurs of 10 wins um I’m a little bit concerned because they have a player that goes by the name of Victor wanyama um on their

Team and we know how much really tall towering centers really deter us from actually driving to the basket well it’s fair to say that this Center um that they possess is just a little bit cracked when it comes to wingspan so um this is going to be a all

Order we’re probably going to take a ton of mid-rangers and probably miss um which is why players like cam Thomas are going to be so important to us getting the win today um he’s had a couple rough games in recent memory so um the key thing is getting back to that of course

Um those really efficient performances because when he scores more than 30 or 40 it indicates a really efficient game so um you’re getting the Best of Both Worlds not only are you getting a lot of points but you’re also Al getting those points on great efficiency um some

Interesting things to note we have a number of players back in the team the injury report is down to three um cam Johnson Dron sharp and DQ Whitehead are out um borian finy Smith is back after the trade deadline um coincidence that’s just a question um

Lonnie Walker is also back um he had a hamstring problem but he’s returned probably quicker than I expected at least um and then of course we do have Dennis schruder um and keate stop also suiting up for the first time um in a Net’s uniform so we’ve got quite a wealth of

Play to choose from the interesting thing is that JV actually said that shudder and Bates deop are going to be on limited minutes because they’re trying to understand the scheme um and they need more practice time which is a bit ironic because JV also said we don’t

Practice um and we don’t have a scheme quite clearly so I don’t know what the [ __ ] they’re being held out for um Dorian finny Smith is also on a minute restriction but that also confuses me because he was straight off the injury report immediately when it was announced

Yesterday or the day before so um it’s a bit of a weird one um they are starting him though as you can see this is the first time this has been the starting lineup um a starting lineup Ben cam Thomas Bridges um Vinnie Smith and Nick Clon I actually

Really like this it is probably the first time we’re seeing finy Smith and Ben really well get a crack at it together because I mean usually we don’t have this physical of a front court on the defensive side of the ball and bridges is forced to

Play as a four or a three but now he’s going to be playing is it too and look I don’t know who who he’s going to be playing on probably Vel um and if it’s not Mel playing on Vel it’ll be Ben um the Spurs are starting Trey Jones Devon

Vel wanyama of course um and then I don’t know who the other two are going to be um they’ve got some really random role plays Jeremy soan is another one and Sham pagne is the other for the Spurs um um so a significantly less less gifted team and

Um yeah th those are probably the famous last words because they will come out and they’ll start start on a really nice run so look this team is probably like I actually think this is nearly the best starting five we could Master up this

Season um because a lot of the a lot of the time we’ve had cam Thomas off cam Johnson on the court when CJ returns I need to see cam Thomas actually playing on the court so I think cam Johnson needs to come off the bench um and then you’ve got well you’ve got

Some good good players Off the Bench then because schroer is um or shudder I still don’t know how to pronounce his name um is averaging 13 and six on the year so that’s a good asset to have on the bench but I think he was a little

Bit agitated that he was coming off the bench um he was coming coming off the bench in Toronto so um I don’t know what he’s going to think of well coming off the bench on a team that isn’t even in the playoff uh fixture um how’s it going yeah it’s good

Danny it’s good um do you reckon troa will be a starter for you well I think it’s a really good insurance policy to have um especially with Ben out or Ben out more often than not I think it’s going to be a really good asset to

Have um schroer being able to come off the bench and then start when he’s called upon um and I also think well if he’s coming off the bench then he offers a while he’s not as good a point of attack Defender as dsj is um but he is a decent

Defender Dennis shudder so it’s going to be interesting to see whether or how those minutes are staggered between those two guards because they are essentially the same sort of guard um but shudder has a lot more shooting ability he can score the three at a much better clip than than

Dennis I think Shuda Shuda is shooting um that’s really going to be hard to say for the rest of the year um he’s shooting 36% from three this season which is a far better Mark than dsj which I reckon is in the 20s so ultimately um you know I mean we lost

The other day so who was it um I just completely forgot who we played the other day um but it marked Jaylen Wilson’s first start as well um and that was a pretty good first half um it was the Cavs that’s right um and look we we lost in the second half after

Conceding the first 21 points of the second half I mean the game was done right there um but the first half was showed some good signs I mean you really just have to take as much of it as you can get like we’ve got to acknowledge we played a

Good half and just completely forget that we played a terrible second half um but it’s sort of well it’s sort of imperative as a sport supporter to recognize both halves um and ultimately that’s going to lead to the final result if you don’t play a good two quarters um

And you completely ignore those [ __ ] two quarters it’s not going to change the result so um going to be interesting to see this one um we are about to kick things off um this is our first look at Victor wanyama as an opponent of course um who is the

Best player currently on the Nets I have got no clue Elijah um I’ve got no idea I mean I mean it has to be Bridges or Cam Thomas but I mean that’s inconsistent as hell like they are both inconsistent as hell Bridges has actually been really good

Recently but he hasn’t really had much to support him with um that’s why I think plays like well I think shrewder is actually going to make a big difference um because Den Wy was a liability he wasn’t taking shots he took well he was taking up about 25 minutes

Of the rotation and wasn’t really doing much and he was playing pretty passive so I think Shuda is going to elevate things instantly just simply because um he’ll play a little bit more assertive um I I really think it’s that simple of course and it’s going to open up

Opportunities for other players in the rotation which I think is just the net positive anyway so um the Nets win the tip and it will be Ben getting into the offensive set in the half court um cam Thomas on the outside bounce past to Claxton out to Bridges will get into the

Middle the kick out to Thomas he did not shoot the three he’s got Trey Jones on him so he’ll take him on from the outside and he’ll hit on the outside first points on the board for cam Thomas and historically this season when he scores his first basket usually it indicates

That he’s in for a big one so um that’s a very nice start for cam Thomas Bell on the Move hits back ir and the rebound back lack it’s going to be imperative that we start the game on a properly good well bit of form Ben’s really just

Got to take that in he’s still afraid with the physicality element which is a bit frustrating to watch um so wanyama is going to post up finny Smith and obviously more size but finny Smith better in the physicality department and we have a def defensive 3 second call which is just [ __ ]

Unnecessary by clar because you know wanyama was pretty comfortable not taking it into the hole so LAX to sit in the middle and sag off was was fairly unnecessary so Vel can get them on the board with the Mak and he does um and the Spurs will

Also have another look with 14 to shoot so net start with a three from cam Thomas the Spurs get a technical free throw via the way of a defensive 3 second call Jones the kick out to shampagne who pulls the trigger and is short and the rebound by Bridges and Ben

Will look to get into things here if Ben actually drove it in it’s all a mindset thing with him it’s ridiculous how much attended him Vinnie Smith is short on the three in the board by the cell and the pass was intended for wanyama but Ben bats it to Claxton

Bridges in transition the Euro he blew the [ __ ] layup but Cam’s got the tip in the amount of blown layups by Mallen transition is just baffling man it’s all I can say that’s the only describing word I can use when beny is going to look for the handoff to shamp pagne on

The wing he gives it to vasel who’s got ridges picking him up we anticipated that one pregame shoots over finy Smith and hits top of the key and the Spurs have their first field goal two minutes into the match so Thomas now to Simmons will hand it to brid

Who’s got soan on him the lob bro Mel who the [ __ ] is he lobbing that to I mean when Bama is not even catching that with his length [ __ ] hell that is just a hideous sort of pass but I mean right idea terrible execution and the

Spurs will get into a set to take the lead for the first time today it’s Trey Jones to shamp pagne and now soan in the corner and there is a phantom foul and it’s going to be called on DFS um and that’ll be the first foul of the

Game so can imagine there’ll be a few fouls given away like that trying to deny the ball to wanyama because of how formidable he is it’ll be inbounded by Vel to Jones and the screens will arrive now the switch Jones the kick out to shamp pagne who feeds wenyama in the

Post he shoots over DFS and misses long and aboard by Ben he’s just got to drive it in man vny Smith thought about the three and was tripped up by shamp pagne as he opted for the drive so DFS doing some nice things early on especially on the defensive

Side so inbounded by Thomas to Ben oh wow and he that is just a well worked pass by cam Thomas off the inbounds well sheltered by Ben all he needed to do was let the ball go into the landing space and Ben could pounce on it as he had the Spurs defender on

His back shoulder soan will take it in good move and he doesn’t get the bounce off the rim and the rebound by Claxton Simmons gets it to Thomas who’s got wenyama on him and I would think twice about shooting the three over him Ben gets rid of soan and he traveled but

He did score the basket so we need to see a bit more of that is’s he’s a [ __ ] bull I don’t know why he doesn’t utilize this player build more like that is an exploitable player build in the NBA someone with Pace that’s 610 that should be unstoppable and yet he’s playing like

One of the most timid players in the NBA when Bama’s got CLS on him and that’s a foul and it doesn’t go down but two free throws will arise as a result result for wemi at the 822 Mark of the first quarter so I actually am really excited about

This matchup because this is one of the few tough Center matchups that Glon will actually relish as a matchup like they are both slim built when Bama is a perimeter sort of player it’s sort of the same kind of idea as um Chad holgren the exact same sort sort of player

Build two very very good players and only going to get better a bit um Claxton is the sort of player you want on your team for these sort of demigod matchups the th makers of the world when Bama makes both and it is 76 the Nets have led the entirety of the

First three and a half minutes cam Thomas will use the Ben Simmons screen and now Claxton we’ll look for Ben again in the post he’s got champagney on him good cut by Bridges had soan on the move and then [ __ ] blew the layup was a great find by Ben and a good

Cut by Bridges but the executions been a shocker by him today so far wemi in the mid-range that is smooth and the Spurs have the lead for the first time and it’s wemi giving him that Advantage 87 to start finy Smith on the perimeter to Ben Simmons w Drive behind the back

Shoots and misses badly and [ __ ] hell what what even was that shot soan gets it ahead and it’s an easy two and it’s a timeout for the Nets I I just don’t know why Ben is shooting that crap he could try literally Elevate and and score off

The window but the the amount of times he shks from that contact is just it’s it’s such a compromising way to go about it like it completely limits everything who’s my favorite Nets player um favorite Nets player that is a tough one I think it’s probably Clon he’s been

The longest tenard net um and he’s like he’s one of those like spark plug sort of players high energy you know takes the piss a fair bit so um he’s he’s a really entertaining sort of player to watch you know the the players that hold the most

Antics usually are the players that you can get behind as a as a fan um because they leave it all out there um it’s it’s going to be interesting because now we don’t have any like people we hate um on this on this team um like for example like Royce O’Neal was just

Perennial peren perennially hated if that makes sense by me like for the longest time basically the whole time um of his tenure I just hated the guy cuz he was so bipolar he he would give you these glimpses and hit big threes in big moments but when you needed him in the

Middle portion of the game where the pressure was actually lower he just could not make shots to save his life and he’ll throw the ball out of bounds or he wouldn’t be able to able to rake in a simple rebound cuz it over complicated I mean watching that guy was

The most bipolar fever dream sort of experience I think I’ve ever felt watching this Nets team and there’s been some players that have been bipolar as hell I mean I remember the 2017 18 season there were moments where DLo was bipolar like he would make some he would do some stupid [ __ ] and

Then he would come out and score 35 points in a game um yeah I don’t know it’s some it’s just some weird [ __ ] but him and Spencer DIY are gone I’m pretty devastated for Spencer because I think well yeah we used him wrong um we didn’t actually

Have a sole point guard that well Ben Simmons would have been that point guard that I think Ben uh oh sorry Spencer DIY would have really thrived off but you know um unfortunately we’ll never see those days and now di wt’s on the Lakers which it’s the the dimwitty DLo

Reunion which I don’t think I would have foren years and years ago um so the Nets will get into it now Ben’s going to bring It Forward he’s just going to take it in good feed Dre two Defenders and bridges with the score if if Ben just takes it in and

Actually sort of has a little bit of assertiveness taking it in and doesn’t shy away from it then I think we’ll be we’ll be fine so many more things will open up that is a really good defended shot by Jaylen Wilson who’s in early but they got the offensive board

And now Vel is wide open and he misses when beny nearly got the rebound Bridges did though and Ben Simmons will weave through traffic and get it to Mel Bridges who will have it knocked away by Victor wenyama and it will be the Nets on the side so I find it really

Interesting that um Jaylen Wilson’s in the game this early especially with all the Acquisitions we have um now that Roy O’Neal is not in the team all of a sudden that slot actually opens up and Wilson’s getting a look in Thomas to Claxton they’re looking for cam Thomas

But they deny that pass Claxton got rid of wiim Bama and threw it down now look I didn’t think Claxton was going to be able to poster it on wemi but he just he just thrust him out of the way when Bama will kick out to vasel

And now the screen and switch it’s vasel who will drive on Claxton kick out to soan the three is attempted and it is off you live with those but of course it’s a foul on this side and Claxton will pick it up from probably trying to box out wanyama

So yet again causing a few issues there and I beg if well we’re going to have to play small ball cuz we don’t really have another Center um we’re going to have to play Ben and Clon at any point shudder is in the game Dennis is in so I don’t know what to

Expect from this guy but he is a pretty decent Defender so um he checks in and Dennis Smith is also in so Lonnie Walker is fit to play but he’s on a minute’s restriction so they’ve gone with shudder when beny shoots over Claxton and misses

And the board by dsj will give it to Dennis who gets it to the other Dennis down the middle Dennis combination works a treat and popovic is forced into a timeout and instantly after that timeout was called when we were down 107 we’ve gone and scored Sixth stade and Dennis shud

Instantly I cannot see Spencer making that play this season he’s awfully passive bringing it up Dennis sort of like glided and and the problem is I’m going to have to specify which Dennis I’m talking about I think I’m just going to have to call one dsj dsj sorry and the other one

Bama’s only played um 29 or so minutes a game because he’s obviously far better than that um and only three players in NBA history have actually managed to do what those two players that I just mentioned are doing so it’ll be the Nets defending here and it’s Shuda picked up by Trey

Jones and so Shuda is tightly guarding so we’ve got a nice little back courau Duo there pocket rockets if if you will you could almost say they tried to find soan on the back door cut but Claxton readit and was able to get the steel and now shudder will facilitate give it to

Cam Thomas now the screen set the drive by cam Thomas he’s going to roll it back out to shudder who’s going to look for a an option to pass to good kick out to Dennis in the corner and that catch and shoe three is good and Dennis that’s

Dennis shudder feeds dsj again and and we are on a 90 run so good [ __ ] we need a switch and it’s going to be dsj guarding Zack Collins in the post Dennis knocked it away then he knocked it away again as Collins turned the corner and um it will be the Spurs

On the sideline triggering in but the Nets have had a good little couple minutes here where they’ve held the Spurs scoreless and the Nets have capitalized on that and gotten the lead up to six and immediately there’s an offensive foul Zack Collins just Fung Laxton out of the way with the hyp

Extension of the arm and it will be Nets ball so they didn’t even get a chance to actually inbound it to inbound it I mean the referee hadn’t even given the Spurs player the ball so no opportunity permitted there and they’ve only got themselves to blame so 5 minutes to play Laxton is

Going to the bench so wanyama off means that playing the five is DFS and we’re playing the three guard lineup with Thomas and both Dennis’s Vinnie Smith is fouled and shudder with the bounce pass through the legs so shudder is making an impact very very early on in his net

Tenure very snazzy no look bounce pass through the legs I mean quality play there by shudder and it will be two free throws for DFS at the line and he rattles that one out so F first three throws for the Nets here today and there hasn’t been too many on

Offer generally into the game is cheddy Osman and I believe Kellin Johnson that’s also off by DFS so first two free throws come up empty the Nets shooting 58% from the field the Spurs 27% Vel will try to cross up DFS he gets into the paint the kick out to Johnson

In the corner will feed Zack Collins I don’t know why dsj is uh is guarding Zack Collins in the post we’ve got a a foul off the ball and I think it was Jaylen Wilson who will be hit with the foul and uh look like we’re going to

Going to see another change and it’s Bridges returning and Thomas to the bench so 16 to 10 427 to play in this first quarter and it is going to be Vel who will handle the responsibility Osman in the corner was open and that is an easy three and I

Don’t know what Mel is doing because he wasn’t in the paint nor was he glued to his man so that is a pretty unforgivable sort of three to give up Bridges had it knocked away and it very nearly could have been Spurs ball there but the

Referee saw otherwise and it will be the Nets with 4 minutes to play triggering in from the side and it’s going to be shudder who facilitates here shudder to Wilson on the wing oh that’s a smooth looking jumper he’s I saw a stat that he’s averaging or he’s

46% from three in his NBA career granted not a big sample but the the thre Point jumper looks really good especially in the last couple of games Johnson moves through and shudder didn’t have the size to combat it so the Nets oh early offense finny Smith

That hits back iron and Wilson chases it up Bridges doesn’t hesitate yes and it’s Wilson turning dust to gold on that one and it’s a seven-point lead that is our largest of the game now with Zack Collins who’s going to back down Wilson tries to turn on him

Well done there by well I think it was Jaylen Wilson how did Osman swoop on it finny Smith with the block from behind and then Dennis shudder will hold things up wait for DFS and then give it back thought about the three was given the space and he hits as well

And it’s a 10-point lead Dennis with his first bucket of the game in well well in his first game as a net so 185 extended run as we close in on 5 minutes where that run has taken place and bro Jaylen Wilson is just such a

Plus such a breath of fresh air this guy actually does what you expect from a power forward chasing up the offensive boards being physical and being able to hold your own very sort of similar to DFS but you would imagine with a little bit more shooting potential and well by far younger

So fre throws coming up for Zack Hollands they are in the bonus bro shudder has looked really really good in the opening few minutes wearing it uniform and I tell you what he really like some plays you just can’t like visualize being in a black and white uniform but shudder

Really fits the bill in that respect so shudder is going to bring it up and he’s looked right at home and he’s probably not even had one practice or scrimmage Bridges Wilson’s opening the corner ready to fire and he I thought he I thought he had actually scored um cuz it

Looked online but it was just well short so Johnson to wosman who does not hesitate and he hits this is I I tell you what this is a net killer right here cheddy Osman every [ __ ] time he plays us he decides to catch fire and hit hit a number of

Threes Beyond Health Well Done by Bridges sky over the top and hits another three and it’s 2820 the Drive Johnson tried to remove DFS and did so well well enough and was able to bank it in high off the window with shud to now the hand off to Bridges

Now to DFS then to Dennis in the middle the kick out to the other Dennis and Dennis hits another three this is shudder that I’m talking about mid-range by brandom I think and it is 31 24 final minute or so we are closing in on and Dennis shudder has hit

23es and had a handful of assists early on so already you’re seeing the impact Bridges mid-range at the elbow just don’t shoot those Mel they just aren’t there they’re just not there I’d rather you take it inside and get blocked Johnson off the window scores over Wilson and it’s fair to say

That of all the players that have looked most dangerous it’s probably been Calin Johnson who’s who’s been their most formidable sort of player he’s entered the cordon and really had a a great impact for them early on please let me know if things are a little bit difficult to follow when I

Keep saying Dennis to the other Dennis to the other Dennis back to Dennis can’t imagine it would be easy as a um as if you were trying to depict which Dennis I’m talking about so here’s shudder I’m going to fall into the Trap of calling him Dennis High screen by Bridges shoots

From the elbow uncontested and he hits again so shudder has got three baskets and hasn’t missed and he’s got eight points in the contest already so the last time Spencer diwy had an eight quarter I could not tell you kick out to Collins catch and shoot three is off the

Rebound by Johnson the kick out to wasman and they’ll reload with 10 to shoot now on the wing they’re looking for Z Zack Collins under the basket there’s going to be a foul in there and it’s going to be two free throws it’s Wesley who’s going to shoot

Two and the Spurs can cut it to five before the Nets will have one more opportunity to get a couple points on the board so Dennis shudder got to give the man props because immediately he’s had an impact and well he hasn’t had one real practice

With his team he hasn’t really had any practice reps DFS to the bench with two personals so that’s going to sort of impact the way we play with you know a lack of Center rotation and do playing the five so 3 27 the Spurs started slowly um

On the offensive side but they’ve beefed things up with the bench unit the Nets have kept things ticking over though um and that’s why they’re they’re up by six one more free throw here for Wesley at the line and these are a lot of players that are unfamiliar to me that free

Throw rims in and it is going to be the Nets who will hold for One cam Thomas Claxton Dennis Bridges and shuder the five both dennises in the corners cam Thomas is fouled and the Spurs nearly cut it off and force the turnover um but instead

It’s going to be deemed a foul and I do believe that they had a foul to give so it won’t be cam Thomas to the free throw line it’ll be the Nets with 6.5 seconds to operate and it’ll be Shuda who win bounds looking for cam

Thomas oh my God and he’s [ __ ] turned it over oh holy [ __ ] who the [ __ ] is that that was a vicious throw down I mean it was over a 6-1 point guard Thomas moving three and it’s an air ball that’s quarter time the Spurs have done

Incredibly well to get this one down to three when they trailed by as much as 10 that’s the opening quarter done and the Nets lead by three um aside from that turnover from the inbounds by shudder he’s been almost our best player um so yeah this is the uh the current

Box score situation for both teams schrudder is on a team High equal team High eight points he’s also got four dimes which is also a team high so um he’s just been quality really um and I’ve put him in the spotlight and he’s relished the opportunity so um eight

Points a board and four dimes for and um yeah the Nets are are getting a lot of good looks um as you can see M’s got eight cam Thomas probably hasn’t had enough shots uh for my liking he’s only a taken the three the Nets are shooting

Seven of 12 from the outside yet only lead by three probably something to do with the free throws um I mean we’re shooting at lights out but the Spurs after a slow start you know they were able to reel things in and and actually get that shooting percentage up because

They were down at about 27 28% um the free throws are really helping them they’ve got that edge 7 to2 um and you can see their bench scoring that’s really been where the the primary source of offense has arisen from um because their starters have only

So it’s not like we we got nothing for him and and Dennis like left us to rot oh sorry Spencer left us to rot wyam is back in laxton’s out drive by Osman oh my God Jaylen Wilson man has just been committing fouls for fun it’s almost

Like he got the memo pregame to just commit fouls at any opport he’s picked up three personals and I reckon he’s played about four minutes of action so um first play of the second quarter for the Spurs will result in more free throws and that has been the

Biggest issue for the Nets I would imagine today so cheddy Osman free throw is good and cuts it to two so so cheddy Osman made the first second free throw lined up is also good and the Spurs have not missed from their nine free throw nine free throw

Attempts so Ben will bring it up playing the five with blackton off Thomas the three is good as he steps into it and look wey is going to play Drop coverage picking up Ben oh my goodness so Ben and wenyama both hit the deck and

It’s going to be Ben hit with the foul um yeah the good thing about Ben setting those really high screens is if the screen is effective that instantly opens up a wide open look for the um the go the guy handling the basketball because if when Bama is going

To play Drop he’s just giving up so much space they were looking for wemi on the inside but numbers collapsed and got the steel vny Smith down the middle the kick out to Bridges who will drive and he’s got wemi on him so he’s forced into a pass and now Ben back to

Bridges bounce pass to Ben he went down the middle and he scored and that is what I need to see from Ben he needs to elevate with that size he’s going to be so tough to contest loving it great cut they’re looking for wemi again and it’s finny Smith guarding him Ben was

Like he was half asleep and almost in a State of Trance completely ignoring the fact that he had been hit branam on the outside to the corner three by Johnson is good only the Spurs role players could catch fire against us only the Spurs role players can’t make this [ __ ] up Ben’s

Welcome sort of player he’s a team High plus 12 three points four rebounds two of those offensive um the Spurs we’ve done well with wemi um he’s only scored the six points and found it really difficult to get going um it’s really been the bench for

The Spurs that have helped them out um they’ve gotten well 25 or more bench points got a lot of free throws not shooting the ball too well though and they’ve turned the ball over quite a bit so um a lot of things they could improve on definitely going forward but um for

The Nets it’s going to be a question of whether the offense remains sustainable this offensive Firepower remains um sustainable because you know um yeah usually it falls off um fair to say though it’s been really welcomed to see this team score 46 to this point in the game the defense has been a

Positive wanyama back on the bench so um it remains to be seen what the Spurs are going to or who they’re going to play the offense through soan usually does a bit of facilitating Vel is back in and he scores so he’s probably going to be that guy

Ben is going to look for the handoff gives it to Bridges back to Ben in the middle now to Thomas on the wing screen by Ben Simmons Thomas Pake mid-range rims out rebound by soan lost it got it back and um we’ll get it get it ahead

And Ben Simmons was able to read it but um unfortunately ran out of room so it will be Spurs ball on the side so changes being made I believe for the Nets no no changes so Zack Collins playing the five the hand off to soan and the switch good

Cut by Bram contested well by Watford and the miss Ben will push the pace Watford back to Ben layup and he is fouled and in younger days Ben is going up and fully embracing the contact instead he sort of shed away a little bit from Zack Collins going up and

Basically said to him we dare you to shoot this floater because we know you can’t make it even though it was uncontested as hell and he could have laid it up so the Nets get a reprieve and they will now play through Dennis schrudder who gets into the paint the

Pass to Claxton the spin and the hook shot is off the rebound by no one but it’s going to be Spurs ball because it’s off Claxton out of play so 47 to 39 we enter the second half of this second quarter and uh the Nets

Have well done well to buff the lead up although we haven’t really been able to get away from him biggest lead of the game has been 10 it’s now Vel on the outside the screen set by soan shoots over the top of Wilson and I’m loving the Wilson contests he doesn’t make

Anything easy for for the um for the jump shooter but Vel is good enough to Sky over the top and score and now Dennis shudder will handle the rock pass to Wilson and now dsj he’s going to drive down the middle kick out to shudder who shoots the three

And had it blocked partially by Vel and now the Spurs will look to get into it quickly Wesley the driving kick Vel is open for three and it’s short the rebound by Dennis he’s got to hope that it doesn’t get pickpocketed on the way through we’re fine Wilson has an open

Us hon Johnson on him the one-legged floater is good and papovich will call the timeout and Dennis is just looking quality and I’m not talking about dsj I’m talking about the fresh fter the new fod Dennis schroer and um it’s just clear when you see when you’ve got a point guard that

Looks as as assertive as Dennis schroer is on offense and he’s actually willing to take a shot things change completely with the way your team looks it’s it’s just like a burden removed almost um look I honestly think we could have gotten any point guard in the league

And we would have instantly been better you know because it’s like a completely different Dynamic you know you have two different players that one wants to play the other doesn’t really want to play um one guy’s willing to take a shot the other isn’t one’s playing more passively than the other

Um on those variables alone your team instantly gets better and Dennis rroa is shooting four five he’s also got the five dimes so he could actually be on double double watch and he’s only played eight minutes already um only that doesn’t really make sense he’s only played 10 minutes already doesn’t really

Make sense um cam Thomas has got 10 points um Jaylen Wilson’s been so good I I actually think he could grow into probably my favorite player CU he he just does everything right um in the very small sample that we’ve seen from him so he definitely could blossom into my into my favorite

Player for sure um every net has scored bar Dorian finny Smith who has been in foul trouble early in this one um the defense has been pretty Rock Solid um and that’s really supplementing the offense on the other end we’re shooting 57% from the field 56% from three the only issue is the

Free throw number which is uh not something that we should acknowledge and for the Spurs well the free throws are keeping him in this in this game because they’re not shooting it well particularly well at all even though they’ve got some good scoring contributions outside of like

Cal Johnson chedy Osman um Dev Vel it’s it’s really um like there’s not really much else to talk about because wanyama has been well clamped um by Claxton by Simmons by DFS at times um but yeah what what a first half by Dennis schrudder 10 points in5 dimes in

8 minutes what an explosive debut so the Spurs down 11 this is the most they’ve been down by in this game the Nets running both Dennis’s cam Thomas Claxton and Wilson oh my goodness that was nearly an acrobatic conversion by the Cel it’s going to be two free

Throws or may been a foul I think it was a foul before the shot so it’s going to be the Spurs inbounding from the side so Wesley gets it from the inbound and now Wilson will pick him up the drive blings it back out to Johnson for

A shoot shoots over Claxton tough shot and he hits of course he of course he does of course he does a GU guarantee you he has not played a game this good in probably the last month Thomas I thought was fou but did not get the whistle and now shudder on

The perimeter will use the Claxton screen get into the paint shoot with one hand again that one is short didn’t get enough Source on it and um Johnson will look to feed soan cuz he’s got shudder on him in the post although that’s well shut down and now vasel on

The outside will shoot over Clon and hit and that is another tough make by the Spurs so they instantly sliced the deficit in half three minutes to play second quarter Bridges getting ready to check in for the Nets and it’s cam Thomas who will handle the rock into the

Paint lob Glon throws it down great dime by CT and that’s high percentage high percentage stuff so the cell now will slow things up it’s Claxton guarding on the perimeter I like this matchup good back door cut by Johnson but he stood on the sideline the

Pass was a little bit Wayward and it’ll be a turnover for San Antonio so those are the kinds of turnovers you expect from a young team where they where they get the idea right but not the execution much like we were early on in this

Game um and so the Nets now with 240 to can get this lead back up so Bridges back in Wilson to the bench Thomas moves into the paint will Loft it back out to Bridges and now shudder bounce pass Clon the dunk again bro Dennis another dime Dennis shudder has half a dozen

Assists already and he’s played like 10 minutes and that’s not mentioning that he has the most points equal most points of any net in the game bro Dennis schrudder is handing out dimes oh my God I know it’s only one game but if I’m going to see this for

The next 30 Games well then I’m excited the Spurs are in the bonus 2 minutes to play um and it’s wenyama back in and at the free throw line as he has made a knack of doing or had an Knack of doing for this first half Glon to the bench

Finny Smith in this really doesn’t make sense because Claxton just scored twice with Shuda in the game so I don’t really understand why the [ __ ] he killed off the connection so wenyama makes the first and the second free throw is also good so the Spurs continue to make their free throws

They have made every single one in the first half shudder is going to look to drive it in layup it’s off Dennis with the put back to that’s dsj 5848 first half final two minutes of the first half and it’s now a switch which Sayes Bridges guarding

Wanyama I just don’t understand why the [ __ ] he’s gone with Bridges at the four although we do get a steel courtesy of bridges three on one and Dennis scores and gets the lead up to 12 so maybe I just need to say what I think is going wrong and will actually do it

Right Mel playing the four I’m not really a fan of this I don’t know why we’d play that lineup with wanyama in the game the two is off by Vel rims out and Finny Smith was the first to act on the rebound cam Thomas gets into the paint he

Traveled he’s got to stop doing that little like it’s like a little stutter before he actually takes a dribble and he just takes a random extra step so it would have been nice to not turn it over in such a fashion in the final minute or so because I well you

Score a basket off that possession and all of a sudden the lead is ballooned and you can really feed into that in the final minute you can build on that so final minute of the first half can we hold the Spurs scoreless Vel will drive and shoot toughly over cam Thomas and

Miss badley he was well long and the rebound by Dennis not shudder dsj cam Thomas the screen moves through and he traveled again oh my God bro cam how many [ __ ] turnovers are you going to commit doing that [ __ ] and um it’s Jaylen Wilson who is going to

Return replacing cam Thomas so I think two turnovers and JV has said that’s enough you know really easy turnovers to not commit as well to the corner for Johnson who Skies over and misses the rebound by Bridges and it’ll be dsj who will hold for one there is a 3 second difference between

Shot and game and we’ll give it to Dennis shudder and he doesn’t really know the sets but he’s been told to execute one here as the point he’s going to look for a pass they get it to Bridges there’s a foul as shudder was bounc passing it to well bounce passing

It to Bridges Johnson collided and that’ll reset the shot clock um and now the Spurs will not have a look in for for a shot it’ll be the net ball with N9 seconds to play we’ve got to get it in we get it in to shudder seven a shoot the drive no look

Past the finy Smith it’s wide open he missed it and a rebound by Vel who Chucks one up and that three is well short and that is the half but a 6048 lead and that is a very idealistic first half by the Nets I mean we’re playing

The Spurs of course but um these sort of games really can go either way if you start the game lethargic and you give a young team confidence I say this every time we play a really young or inexperienced team I always say this I always say that nothing is handed to you

In the NBA and you well and truly need to um embrace it and actually wake up you need to start the game on the right note and it’s fair to say that the first half has been a good half now we know all too well that first if the first half

Indicates anything it’s that well we’re probably not going to see that in the second half um previous games have told us that usually the first half we don’t carry over th those efforts into the second half and everything dries up we’re usually prone to scoring like 45 to 50

Points in the second half we fall off a cliff off we fall off a cliff offensively and then you know it has a ripple effect on the defensive side of the ball um in the first half it was the complete opposite of that you know um offensively excellent defensively

Excellent it really supplemented or um the offense supplemented the defense you know the ripple effect was was well and truly on show I have to give huge props hold on a second um we scored 27 points in that quarter held the Spurs to 18 um and that allowed us

To get the lead up to 12 um but as it currently stands you can see for the Spurs I mean they’re sort of lacking a fair bit of um in their team that’s probably the best way I can describe it if free throw are keeping him in this game um but they’re not

Shooting the ball well by any stretch and they’ve turned the ball over a bit too much I would imagine for Popovich’s liking C Johnson has been a Shining Light he’s played nearly a team High minutes um and he has scored the most points for the Spurs Devon Vel scored 10

But he’s been really inefficient um and yeah they’ve got some decent bench contribution but their starters are really lacking something um Trey Jones and soan well and champagney have combined for two points so it’s it’s fair to say that if those players are playing as many minutes as they as they

Are um you’re probably not winning games of basketball as we’ve seen in well many games for for a couple of months now with players like Spencer DIY you know but for the Nets I mean this could not be any more balanced of a scoring well any more

Balanced of a scoring output um as you’ll ever see we’ve got how many players we’ve got 1 2 3 4 5 6 seven we’ve got seven players who have scored between 6 to 10 points that is awesome and no one has taken more than 10 shots either now the turnovers are probably

One area that needs Improvement Ben’s committed some [ __ ] turnovers one he just bounced past it into the Open Court um and it was just flung away no one was ever going to be on the end of that pass and then committed an illegal screen and then cam Thomas committed two travels in

The final two possessions that he was on the court for the first half in you know the final 2 minutes of that half so that’s already four turnovers that I can count that were easily preventable so if we can IR that out and and get rid of those really stupid sort of turnovers

We’ll be fine um because those turnovers give the the Spurs extra opportunities that keeps him in the contest and um for a team that’s played so well defensively in the first half you know we’ve got to capitalize on the turnovers we’re forcing you know we can’t even

Things out by letting them off the hook and and just handing them handing them the basketball basically um we’re shooting 57% from the field and 53% from three um we had seven threes in the first quarter so the volume really dried up in the second quarter but overall a really good first half

Um by this team um Dennis shudder 10 points six assists in 12 minutes I mean if we’re going to talk about efficiency that’s efficiency right there and uh the other Dennis I mean I can’t imagine there’s been too many teams over the years that have had two dennises on their team

Um dsj has not missed he’s got nine points he’s got five rebounds so he’s doing well things that Dennis shudder isn’t um he’s actually followed up on a lot of uh Dennis shudder misses so um it’s sort of been good to see um Dennis that’s dsj I I’ve got to

Well now shooting threes Off the Bench well I don’t really know what role he’s going to play um I actually would have been interested to see if JV played him off the bench what we would have seen um from Spencer diwy cuz I actually think he could have played Better Off the Bench

Or if he’s the problem is like I reckon he would have played well alongside a guy like Ben Simmons but you need cam Thomas in the starting lineup and you’re probably playing Ben Simmons in the starting lineup so it’s a really tough sort of dilemma to man manage so I I

Think we probably did the right thing well we did do the right thing getting getting rid of uh Spencer Di has Harry GES been picked up yet uh no and I don’t anticipate will cuz he hasn’t really really been given an opportunity um he’s shown some glimpses in limited minutes

But it’s not really much to base it on for opposition um teams I would suspect he may go to Europe or something I loved Wilson since summer league he played great he’s just been tearing it up in the in the G league and of course we

Took this long to to call him up um but I think with Royce O’Neal leaving it’s going to open that opportunity for Wilson and and it just makes sense it just makes sense um that we got rid of Roy because we’ve got players like Jaylen Wilson and and Noah

Clowney also waiting on on the sideline ready to go um would you prefer Ben or Dennis at the point I think well Dennis shudder didn’t want to come off the bench for a well a on the brink playoff team yet I think he’s just transferred from one team to the other

Yet the situation hasn’t changed I think Ben’s going to run the point um as a starter but I think well I think it’s good having a player like shudder um in times where Ben may be injured or he needs like a little bit of injury management I think playing Dennis schrudder or having

Dennis shudder is a luxury because he is starting caliber and and well he’s a point guard that is a net positive I would imagine he’s going to be definitely an improver on Spencer DIY um look Spencer diw is going to play well I already know for a fact but in

Terms of the situations we needed to get rid of Spencer we’ve gotten Shuda in um and I think shudder will do a lot of what we need I don’t think he’s a big ego well he probably is but I don’t think he’s I don’t think he’s one to

Fully complain I think he’s more team first than Spencer will ever be I think um they’re just two different personalities really but I think Dennis coming off the bench will be a good one but then when he needs to start it’s good to have a point guard waiting in the

Reserves that can actually shoot the ball because there’s been situations where we’ll have to like play cam Thomas at the one sometimes you want to maximize his catch and shoot game so then you have to allow Bridges to handle the rock so I think we know Bridges can’t really

Handle the basketball so having Dennis shudder around I think could really um assist that and and take some of the burden off of bridges in games where we don’t have Ben Simmons um and we want cam Thomas to be more catch and shoot oriented the impact that Dennis gave in

The first half man yeah it was it was actually a side to behold that he had 10 points and six boards or six assists I don’t know the last um the last time Spencer DIY was able to do that I know I’m doing a lot of comparing but I’m

Just simply saying that the minute you have an impactful point guard a guy that actually does his job well um and plays more instinctively then you’ll be much better off as a as a whole future looking brighter it’s only one game and we’re only playing the

Spurs as much as this is all good and well I want you to hold your horses um obviously you are entitled to what you think but I wouldn’t get ahead of myself just yet we’re playing the Celtics in in uh two or 3 days for two consecutive

Games all of a sudden we’re going to be back at the bottom it’s the end of the world the world is ending you know um and this team is [ __ ] and we have to clean house again so um yeah I would just I would just hold your horses Um what do you think about J’s rotation though um it’s uh I don’t even know to be honest look like Lon Walker hasn’t played he’s actually like fit to play so I think well we’ve got 19 points combined from shudder and uh Dennis Smith so that that back caugh that back caugh

Tandem is really helping out um and and doing some big things today so I don’t think Lonnie’s actually needed unless we need a little bit of scoring in the third quarter um in typical Nets fashion we will fall off offensively at some point in the last quarter or in the

Second half so um maybe we call upon Lonnie then um but I just want to see this well-rounded team performance in the second half Jaylen Wilson’s been such a good player I I actually think he’s going to be my favorite player very very quickly for sure um Dennis six assists is absolutely

Beautiful we 100% won that trade well look it it is a win-win well actually Toronto I think it’s more like salary issues the reason they waved Spencer diwy um obviously when you compare what we got and what what they got we probably win the deal um you know because ultimately the Raptors

Got nothing um but look like I think it was going to be a win anyway because we needed to get Spencer off the roster cuz he was just compromising our play and yet JV for some reason was still playing the guy I have absolutely zero clue

Why do you think wemi is going to dunk three times he’s 76 why isn’t this dude dunking because he’s Slim as hell like he is he is a toothpick you could snap him in half honestly um if he was a little bit smaller he’d probably be a little bit more filled out

When Bama heating up in this second half you can well if if a player really heats up usually we don’t know how to combat it and we usually give up leads and you see it deteriorate and um you know the offense offense is stunted and all that sort of stuff so you know

It’s it’s imperative that well a we stop wanyama or try to limit how much of the basketball he gets he’s got truda on him so he’s like a full foot taller he kicks it out to Bram and he nearly traveled the three by Johnson is off and Bridge

The point guard well I don’t know if he’s going to close games but um he definitely probably is a little bit more assured and he’s not going to take a step back three um it’s the turning point in the season we needed finals here we come

Rebounds um but weren’t able to convert that into points in the in the third quarter when they potentially could have made inroads outside of when Bama Vel and helden Johnson they really have nothing to show for it um even though they well they played well in the first

Half um but things just slowly slipped away slowly slipped away at the back end of the second and into the second half um they went on a run but you know they just didn’t have enough Firepower for the Nets we have well six players in double figures um cam Thomas leads the

Way with 25 I said 29 before 25 um Ben Simmons at 13 I believe that’s the most points he’s had um since his return to the team um Mel Bridges wasn’t that efficient um he was in the first half when you know the minutes mattered he scored 14 Glon with a double double

20 and 11 um that’s great to see because at halim he only had the four points so um really got going in the second half and and elevated the gear Notch from 1 to about 5 six um shudder in his first game with the Nets ends it with well an

Emphatic stat line an excellent stat line of 15 points 12 assists three rebounds um so really not much else you can ask for from a player in their debut um and Jaylen Wilson had eight points six rebounds two dimes in his second or third consecutive game

With the well the main group the main roster and I think from here he’s only going to get more minutes um because we well we don’t have C we don’t have Cam Johnson I do not want to see Jaylen Wilson lose his minutes because cam Johnson returned I think Wilson is such

A good player to have and a much well a much better mold um a much better mold of player more physical more physically imposing better rebounder um potentially better shooter only takes the right shots and actually is a knack of getting it inside um into the paint

Um and look they’ve basically got the same haircut so if anything we can just call Cam Johnson Jaylen Wilson and or we can you know if for for jv’s sake we can call Jaylen Wilson cam Johnson and he’ll be happy um ultimately we only take 34 three-point

Attempts but we actually made 17 of them so goes to show that volume not necessarily will always result in output you can be efficient you can take less threes and make more provided the shot selection is quality um we end the game shooting 56% from the field which is

Just excellent we crack 30 assists um and ultimately what a game great game turnovers we kept those down in the second half that was one area you could have potentially you know the the minute you start giving Spurs extra possessions they could potentially have dug in and got

Back into the game but we did well to um get a a grasp of all that or grasp on all that um I’ll just have a quick look at the team stats then look at the chat then we will wrap things up you can see this splits

Um well that’s the score um the score breakdown then you can see the field goals um hold on hang on a second double checking something yeah okay um yeah so free throws was really the only thing this Spurs had the the advantage on um we just dominated him in

Stats points off turnovers 17 to 16 so pretty even fast break points we 24 fast break points to 14 um which obviously is you know a staple of how we play so we need to have those points up and about more often than not points in the paint

58 to 44 we dominate that stat as well um and ultimately just a great all round team win um um a win is a win of course you know we can’t discredit the win because you know these games we sometimes lose um but great to be back

On the winners list um and we’ve got to relish it because I don’t know if we’re going to get a win um until after the All-Star break so that is already two weeks of two weeks of potentially not having anything to celebrate and that’s without

A game being played um you know um yeah without a game being played um after the allstar break so you know we’ve got to potentially try to steal one at Boston um when Boston come to visit so it’s going to be tough um but I mean if

Dennis schrudder is going to play the way he did today more often than not then I think we’ll we’ll look like a much better basketball team and and with plays to come back cam Johnson yet to return Lonnie Walker was on a minute’s restriction um and played like six

Minutes so yeah and that’s all without including dayon sharp as well so you know those three probably come back into The Fray um in well definitely probably after the All-Star break so we may have a very full team to pick from um and not enough minutes to go around so a few
