Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Reacts To Being All-Star Starter, LeBron James, & OKC’s Growth

Westest top we on the top we on the top had to get it with my guys never stop sh Nick Gallow Casey Thunder um a lot of deserving candidates in the west but as you think about your year and and what you all have kind of accomplished

What do you think has resonated with people to make you an all star our all star stter excuse me yeah um I think winning games um speaks for itself um that’s why everybody plays the game that’s why you watch the game you want your teams to win um it’s

Everybody’s ultimate goal and I think uh obviously this year we’ve got a really good start um in that category but I think winning games is the so said in your exit interview last year I’m getting asked out last season um compared to you know all time greates

You don’t give energy to that kind of thing but you know this thing being in the all started kind of being one of those turning points in a career I just wonder if we take the time now this break to kind of reflect and and put into perspective what this might mean

For you know a potential Hall of Fame career yeah um I honestly just try to stay very present um try to stay in the moment not look too far ahead not look back um and kind of just take advantage of every moment whether it’s me working

Or it’s me just being grateful for where I am today um I try to just stay in the moment and it’s worked out pretty good this far so I try to continue to do this up Tim standing on the right to OB mbn Jay you’ve obviously seen LeBron in the

All-Star Game I would assume basically as long as you can remember given it’s been 20 years since he’s been in it curious is he’s obviously nearing the end of his career whenever that does happen there’s been a lot of discussion about who might the next face of the

League be do you have any idea or any prediction or thoughts on who might to take the manle for him as the next guy to sort of be the face of the G again um I have no clue um I think that’s you guys job to decide and figure out um but

It’ll be an amazing League regardless um obviously he’s done amazing things for this league for the G basketball um and you don’t want to take it for granted obviously um but yeah when he’s G it’ll be it’ll still be great back right Tim Tim rolds with the Associated Press sh

You talked a couple minutes ago about keeping in the moment and how that’s worked out for you so far how much more difficult is that when the team is doing what it’s doing when you’re getting the mentions you’re getting and now that you’re very prominent in the MVP race as

Well how how difficult is it to block out all that noise good noise but still noise um it for me it’s it’s not any more difficult um I think I’ve learned through experience um and obviously as a young kid it’s easy to get caught up in it

Just going back to like high school and rankings and things like that um and I just found so much success from from just not blocking it out but not letting it phase me or control me um and I think I’ve just learned through that experience and and figure out what

Works for me and then try to run with it um so yeah to this point it’s not any more harder cuz I’ve grown through it being hard I think in the past question here in the front yeah sh You’ been with the Thunder ever since the they started the rebuild you guys

Has a lot of ups and downs um two years ago it was Josh here at Allstar Break by himself last year was three now you guys have five you just talk about the the growth that you guys have had with such a short man yeah um it’s amazing it’s it’s a good feeling

Um just seeing the thing develop not only for myself but for my peers and guys that I’m I’m around all the time and guys that are like Brothers to me just cuz we do everything together um it’s exciting um not only for myself like I said we just got to try to keep

Pushing forward um and whatever’s been working to try to continue to do so and keep getting ready in front row I’ve been following since Kentucky days and and obviously he has become the leader of OKC you guys have been dominating um this year as a leader of

The team what do you guys think you can need to win a championship and one one of those areas that you as a leader you you identify that you need to work on good question um I’m not too sure um usually um experience um the teams that have gone through multiple playoff

Series and multiple guys that have have gone to that level um know what it takes to get get over to hump and do so um and that’s something that honestly just has to come with with us playing more games maybe we give it time maybe we don’t um

But we have no ceiling on what we think we can do this year we kind of take the same mentality and just stay in the moment plug away every day um and and where we get at the end of the year whenever the the end of our season is

We’ll look back and and make adjustments and and try to figure out then but as of right now we just try to stay focused on the task game again in the front Aussie B out here with the Marone tiger at morouse College harping on the last question uh with expectations a lot

Stronger than than last season what kind of message are you in to thunder looking to relas send the rest of the league as you look to close out the of the Season yeah um I don’t think we’re I don’t think it’s a message to the rest of the league I think

It’s um a mentality and almost like a a message to oursel that uh like the job’s not finished not even close um we a little bit more than halfway through the season but our goal wasn’t to be 37 to 17 halfway through the season um we want bigger things and

Better things um and obviously we’re not done uh so yeah I think it’s more of a message to to ourselves Steve saying right Steve with the just bu OKC your head coach is in the conversation for coach of the year what makes him so special at his graft

Yeah um he’s super super humble great guy first and foremost um really down to earth easy to talk to Easy to work with easy to to get along with um and then as far as on the court he he he has a an ability to he he always understands what the right thing

To say is and the the things that matter he always emphasizes um so when when he speaks guys listen and guys understand that it’s it’s something that that is gonna break a break your team um and I think that over time we’ve seen his not only his development but we’ve seen his

His kind of his schemes and his his work coming to life um and really lead this pack and and stray Us in the right way and and we all have his respect and and appreciate last two David over here and then the front right Shay David Aldridge

With the athletic over here um now now that we’ve kind of seen the 65 game minimum in practice and what it means in terms of awards what do you think of it just generally and going forward do you think it’s a proper way to kind of set a

Set a baseline for awards and things yeah um I’m not too sure uh I think no matter what there’s no matter what there’s like a fine line and like when it comes down to it it’s always there’s always a fine line in games played and availability

Um and I think the league has the right intention in trying to make that line a little bit Bolder and and and easier to make a decision um now I try to be as available as I can every night um not only for that but

Just for Love of the Game um but as far as how the rule goes I I don’t really I don’t really have an opinion I’m going to try to be available for my team to win basketball games every night and if I can’t be available then I just can’t

Um and it is what it is last question front right hi my name is harmony Bailey so you know there are so many college basketball players aspiring to go to the NBA what would be your biggest piece of advice on how to get there um we’re going your craft as much as

Possible it’s pretty cliche um but I would say be a star in your role um it’s also to sh but I think when you like if when guys figure out what their game is going to look like what their roles are going to be um and then attack it with everything

They got you find the most success I thank you very much thank you Che To on the top on the top we on the top had to get it with my guys never stop Mr go split the pie never stop we on the top we on the top we on the top we on the top
