The *Brandin Podziemski Effect* Changes Everything For The Warriors!

Brandon Poky at 20 years old is an elite winning basketball player already he’s a joy to watch and does the little things that I appreciate in February he’s been cooking in 32.9 minutes per game my goodness he has the utmost trust from the coaching staff as you can tell with

Those minutes that’s very impressive for a player his age especially considering Steve cerr and how he treats rookies and young players I digress 12.8 points 7.3 rebounds let me repeat 7.3 rebounds per game for a 64 guard that just shows my guy hustles 247 and the icing on the

Cake 6.7 assists per game he has a point guardes F to his game all those stats occurred in February he elevates every lineup he’s in because he doesn’t need the rock to make an impact but he’s also capable of doing a thing or two with The

Rock in his hands let’s take a look at the film one of my favorite things about his game is his Nifty footwork he has better footwork than most centers in today’s League of course he is pushing the pace he fits with Steph Curry for this reason so well because he’s always

Playing fast and with a purpose then he stops left right spin mve so his right foot was his pivot foot on that sequence and then look he switches his pivot foot to his left foot spin back the other way One Step kiss it off the glass such a

Simple play but man no wasted movement so smooth on balance that’s some special stuff right there not a lot of players can use both feet as their pivots so smoothly and then against a center a great rim protector his poison footwork gets him the bucket stop in the paint

Step through ball fake into the turnaround leftand hook shot trust me he’s going to be a wicked scorer once he fully develops you don’t just have the pace handle confidence and footwork and also touch around the rim at 20 and not turn into an elite scorer the truth is

In the film I mean look at this running off the screen he pump fakes draws a close out one dribble into the between the legs two dribbles and then into the right left classic white man spin I’m telling you from experience every white man has that in their Arsenal I die

Again but then he stops pump fakes a bit and then quickly floats it up over the top no way the defender has a chance at blocking it with that quick of a floater and let me tell you this dude has some of the craziest floater makes you will

See where you say to yourself how on Earth did he kiss it off the glass like that it looked like it was going to be a brick and then a big possession in the fourth quarter shot clock winding down he gets to switch on a big he’s calm

Cooling collected has all the confidence in the world to get a bucket himself between crossover Wicked Sid step to create separation and it’s good 20-year-old rookie says I’mma get a bucket in the biggest moment of the game like it’s his eighth season he can score at The Rim in the mid-range and of

Course he can shoot the three and as he develops his shot chart will become more diverse which will only make him tougher to guard right now this season he’s still learning which spots are his spots and once he realizes that and becomes comfortable from everywhere with the

Ball in his hands oh my goodness sky is a limit for his potential offensively overall he never stops moving constantly creating Second Chance opportunities for the Warriors always helping out his teammates and making the Warriors better he has quick passing instincts a very valuable trade especially in the Warrior

System that trait is needed to play high minutes in the NBA whether you’re a role player or a star player he catches here quick First Step see you later then the wraparound pass to find his big for the easy layup here he knows Looney has the mismatch he’s just trying to find the

Right passing angle perfect entry pass delivered believe me not all players do this as a Sixers fan with jell embiid finding players who can make Elite postentry passes quickly has been a challenge he really does have a point guard feel for the game but he’s in a

Shooting guard’s body and he does all the little things off the ball that allow him to be effective Steve K stated in an interview he’s just a basketball player he’s not a point he’s not a two guard he’s just a basketball player and the extra ball handling we have when

He’s on the floor with Steph is really important and then when Steph goes to the bench we really need him out there to help run the team he just knows how to play he’s had a great rookie season and he’s just getting better here he’s posting up the smaller point guard and

He notices quickly his teammate flaring on the opposite side whip pass delivered perfectly on time and it’s good I also love he’s not afraid to make risky and tough passes that potentially can be a turnover opposite Wing to the opposite quarter through traffic and the reason

He was willing to risk it is because he noticed Trey young was distracted perfectly delivered and now Steph Curry your best player gets an opportunity to score as a result and then look at this use the screen it’s a one-on two situation you think he’s scoring for

Himself or hitting Looney on the roll nope he ball fakes and then he kicks it out out of nowhere to the perimeter where Trey young was sleeping out of nowhere because he was expecting something to happen in the paint that just shows he knows where everyone is on

The court at all times even if they aren’t in his line of sight I truly have a soft spot and love going over the film of good passers and players that make quick decisions he is exactly that type of player just listen to what Steph

Curry has to say about him he stated in an interview he knows how to play he’s fearless and does a lot of little things that impact winning even when he doesn’t have the stat line there’s a connection with him on both sides of the ball he

Just finds a way to make the right play and on the other end of the floor he’s nothing but energy he leads the NBA and charge is drawn a total of 27 this season this play perfectly shows what he brings to the table as a player he’s hounding Deonte Murray gets a deflection

It’s a loose ball and then he smartly doubles him to force a terrible pass now he’s running in the Fast Break situation hustling hard fills the lane gets the pass and then immediately finds his teammate for the slam on that play he made the right- winning play backto back

To back and that resulted in a bucket on the other end of the floor for the Warriors He’s clearly a hard worker loves the game of basketball and has the smarts and also the talent it shouldn’t be looked over that he had the awareness of what the Warriors like in their

Players in order to get minutes and he went on the court and made it a point to do those things flashback to the summer league if I told you during that he’s going to be a key rotational piece for the Warriors a key key player you would

Have said hell no but he worked his booty cheeks off after that and figured out exactly what he needed to do to play right away that’s crazy and it gives me extreme confidence in him reaching his potential and right now who knows what that potential is but one thing is clear

No matter what his potential is he’s going to make a winning impact for a long time I mean he’s just 20 years old doing that next to one of the greatest players of all time Steph Curry that is just insane to think about that’s all I got though let me know your thoughts

  1. To be fair, many of us, and i'll paraphrase, said something along the lines of the following regarding Summer League and Podzeimski:

"He's already showing the shrewd hoops IQ and rebounding, passing well too, D instincts and really everything but the shot at this point and you can see the short arms and that he'll have to figure out how to get his shot off but once he does he has most everything else."

(At this point his FT% is a bit of a downer surprise, but he'll likely improve that, as has JK.)

But no, i wouldn't have called you crazy for saying certain positive things about Pods' game this past summer, he looked like a smart tough player who was seeing more athleticism and longer arms than he'd ever faced.

He has now adjusted, at least he is looking like a steal at #19 (not to mention TJD at 58 or whatever it was.)

Tough luck for you and your 6ers, but once Embiid is back and you're up and running seems the team is still really good. Much props for noticing Pods and doing a deep dive.

  2. This was dope. It has been so dope getting to watch Podz become a guy for this team & watching Kerr finally start playing these young dudes more. They're bringing crazy energy and chemistry back to the squad.

  3. yeah i just posted somewhere that im shocked at thr lacking hype around this guys impact this early in his carreer…. that said i'd start & finish (if the gm is close or important) w him & Dray, but would make sure they are split a bit on different lineups in the middle parts of the game…

  4. If Brandin could have his pick of guys under 24 to surround himself with, or let's say 22, who would he pick to fill out his team?

  5. Had sexton shot the 3ptrs, gsw would cried again. Gsw in last 3mins of 4th qtr was weak clutch time. Luck has won gsw. Gsw weakest games were always on the last 5mins of 4thqtr. Disgusting. Over confidence. Had gsw lose, kerr had many reasons again.

  6. In all fairness- summer league ain't always a good indicator of who's gonna be raw in the league. A lotta ppl who ball out in summer league never make the big show. Dope breakdown, I love his game. He got that DAWG

  7. Pods takes care of the ball, moves Steph off ball, this drives defenses crazy, can play make like Draymond. Is a three point threat to spread the floor. Klay off the bench will make the second team scary strong and will make Klay a 6th man candidate.

  8. I was so shocked when they didnā€™t play him earlier in the season, considering how crazy he was in the preseason, and amazing from the get go. Definitely deserves the hype.

  9. He will continue to get better thatā€™s the scary part! He does all the intangibles for youšŸ«”šŸ¦¾

  10. Whatā€™s most impressive is Kerr rarely gives these types of minutes to rookies. Just look at Kuminga, took him 3 years for Kerr to finally start him. Took Podz half a season.
My only concern is his FT%. Dude somehow shoots 39% from 3 and shot 44% from 3 in college. But only 61% from the line? Shows that his shot can be inconsistent. Hoping Steph, CP and Kerr can help him improve that.

  11. Yeah he is allowed to play through his mistakes why isn't jk and moody given the same chance

  12. Warriors starting 5 – Curry, Podziemski, Green, Kuminga, Wiggins. Second Unit – CP3, Klay, Saric, Payton II, Looney. Bench – Jackson-Davis, Moody. Very strong team.

  13. He is good but let me say why the hell is able to play so much and make mistakes and JK and moody given this chance he managed to say tall the right things to all the right people and Kerr praises him but when asked about JK he has to force himself to say good things but quickly follows it up with everything he isn't doing

  14. I feel heā€™s learned so much from curry , just watching him. Warriors kings of drafting ā€œunauthenticā€ guards
