The Detroit Pistons’ Thirty-Five | 20 Exhibit (Detroit Historical Museum)

February 17, 2024 – In celebration of their 35th anniversary of their 1989 championship and 20th anniversary of their 2004 championship, the Detroit Pistons have partnered with the Detroit Historical Museum to piece together an exhibition that displays a litany of artifacts from the team’s championship runs and beyond. Among the pieces included:

– Two of the Pistons’ three championship trophies (1989, 2004)
– 1989 and 2004 championship banners
– The shoes worn by Vinnie Johnson the night he earned his Microwave moniker
– Game-worn jerseys from 1985 on forward
– Rasheed Wallace’s championship belt
– Rip Hamilton’s mask
– A literal piston from Fred Zollner’s pistons business
– And so much more

The Pistons exhibit will remain on display until June 23rd.

Tickets to the Detroit Historical Museum are $10 per adult.

  1. Lots of great memories here. Seems like so long ago, yet just yesterday. I cannot believe its been 35 years since the first title and 20 since the last.
    I remember watching the Finals back-to-back on TV wishing I could be there. In 2004, I got my wish and attended game 3 and game 5 at The Palace. Those memories will stick with me forever. Thanks for posting!
