The irony of this guy’s coaching career is that I think he would have been a solid coach of the star-laden Nets teams. He should have gotten the job when Nash did.

When he sat Mikal and the other starters during that game earlier in the season for which the Nets were fined, and Mikal then made some comments after the game talking about how he didn’t know/agree with what was going on with the playing time– I think a lot of us knew then that we’d get here sooner or later. When the best player on the team publicly criticizes the coach it’s a jump the shark moment.
Honestly JV seems like the nicest guy in the NBA and I liked some of his more philosophical approach to coaching, but it clearly wasn’t working with this team this season and I think this is for the best.
Best of luck to him in the future though.
