i know he wasn’t the best coach but i always respected his character. seemed a solid dude. that being said his entire offensive scheme was play random so i’m glad this has happened

Class through and through. Good luck, JV. šŸ¤

Get this trash out my borough. Somebody call the NYC Sanitation Department to escort this man to the Airport.

  4. Kwilly462

I’m sure he knew this was coming, but he ain’t stressing. Money wise anyway.

  5. A very good person. Was a good stabilizer last year. Should have never been given that contract. Some people are just not NBA Head Coach material. No disrespect, just the truth.

I was rooting for JV during his tenure here. He was always a positive (sometimes too positive), likeable guy. I’m glad we’re moving on from him but I wish him the best

  7. He’s a good man and I wish him well down the line. Also always a good sign when player leave a franchise regardless of the circumstances and are positive about it. That matters

Hed be a good coach to a team with some actual stated goal or direction. Just not a good one for us floating around

Damn now I feel kinda bad for cheering lol.

He’s a great dude but an awful coach. Id love to go for a pint with him, just don’t want him anywhere near the head coach role lol

Man… people wanted his head.. but fuck… he wasn’t given the tools. Our team had no pg with a shit ton of wings. I’m not sure what we were expecting. That said, he had to go. Its clear he lost the locker room.

always thought this dude was cringe ever since I found out he’d write poetry on the bench while he was at KU.

As a person, I liked JV. I think he could have been a great coach, but if you don’t know the Xs and Os, then the players won’t follow you.

At the end of the day, JV made two mistakes, and I think they were both a result of him having too much hope:

    (1) He hoped/assumed that Ben would be healthy. He never should have planned a scheme around a dude that missed that much time and can’t shoot while every center on the roster was also a non-shooter.

    (2) He needed Din to run an offense built around creating advantages for Mikal, CT, and to the extent neither was healthy, Lonnie. He never should have let the FO tell him that Din would be moved and hoped that he could have Mikal and to a lesser extent CT, orchestrate the offense.

In the end, his greatest strength, his positivity, was also his greatest weakness.

Yall are such flip floppers. When Vaughn was hired and our offense looked good for that stretch, it was ā€œVaughn unleashed the offenseā€ now itā€™s this šŸ˜‚ signs of a trash franchise

It’s not his fault he was made a head coach when he should never have been in the first place so I think it’s time we stop being so upset with him. Like obviously he’s a major part of the issue and deserves some blame, but I really think it’s more of a front office/ownership issue.

He’s obviously a really good dude. Didn’t issue a salty statement trying to shift the blame from himself. I hope he finds a job as an assistant somewhere, but yeah, he should never be an NBA head coach ever again.

  15. rabidantidentyte

He was a very good interim coach, and always cared about his players. I just wish we gave more pause to giving him an extension. Good dude – he’ll land somewhere as an assistant. That’s the one big downside from this: we lose a great assistant.

  16. Sweaty-Advice7933

He’s NBA “good for the team” assistant coach…he’ll be alright in that job market.

  17. babyjet321

Bye Jacque, I know where to go if I need a motivational speaker. He did a good job under the interim tag, not his fault that Marks was dumb enough to give him a multiyear extension and than waited this long to pull the trigger when it was obvious he wasnā€™t the right coach. And I donā€™t trust Marks to get this next coaching appointment right, Marks needs to go too.
