Brian Windhorst’s verdict on LeBron’s future, All-Star weekend & Nets news! | SportsCenter

The NBA that we alluded to the Nets have fired jacqu vaugh let’s welcome in our NBA reporter Brian windhorse and looks the Nets sit currently at 11th in the East windy what perspective can you offer as to what led Brooklyn to make the decision right now yeah Shay well just after Christmas

The Nets were 15 and 15 thinking about being buyers of the trade deadline and really thinking they were going to be a good chance to be a playoff team since that time they are six and 18 bottom 10 in offense bottom 10 in defense and I think more importantly about why this

Happened now now the team morale has been very very low in recent weeks the team has been frustrated by the Jack Von’s uh offensive schemes at times they have not been able to get any traction with Ben Simmons return to the lineup and so they’re trying to salvage this

Season and uh they’re on 11th place and they don’t control their draft pick that is controlled by Houston going forward because of the James Harden Ray which as you know he is long gone so they are under some pressure to get this thing turned around and it’s going to be done

With a different head coach yep and two plus Seasons as the Nets head coach Von was 71 and 68 in the regular season 0 and8 in the postseason not good we’ll see where they go from here Brian wior don’t go anywhere we will talk to you in

Just a moment yeah we will because we’re going to be talking about 397 as the point total in the NBA All-Star Game the East and West all-star teams combined with 397 points shattering the previous Mark of 374 combined back in 2017 at New Orleans Carl Anthony towns dropped 50 of those

Points Off the Bench the East responsible for 21 of nearly 400 points most by any team in an All-Star game that beat the previous Mark of 196 set by the West in 2016 the two teams knocked down 67 threes between them that handily beat the mark of 62 combined

Threes from 2019 and Charlotte Damen Lillard game MVP knocked down 11 tray so Brian Windor depending on where you looked on social media people were pretty turned off by last night 400 points scored in the the All-Star Game what are you hearing about the league office’s reaction to how this whole

Thing played out well let me tell you it was turned off the commissioner Adam Silver who went through the postgame Trophy presentation if you want to call it that with a lot of vinegar in his voice he really made some changes to this event that he thought was going to

Get the players to show more uh competitive Spirit he even kind of Quasi promised it on Saturday night in his annual address with the media thinking that the changes and the conversations he had would lead to Improvement and that did not happen and you know the players this year have sort of been

Asked three things one to not rest as much for National Television games and that came with financial penalties to teams that didn’t comply that for the most part has happened and there’s been a couple of fines given out two for the players to care about the inseason tournament which came with a $500,000

Bonus for winning 300,000 for second and that worked and the players talked about the money the whole time and then three this All-Star Improvement which came with no Financial incentive and you see the result so it’s sort of the unspoken thing Matt if you want this to change

You might have to come up with some money and Adam Silver probably not thrilled about that yeah look it just CES like if they’re not going to care why should we kind of thing and it was just kind of embarrassing for the NBA in

A game that by the way back in the 90s used to be really really good and before the All-Star Game another big Conversation Piece LeBron James made some comments on his future and his time in LA take a listen I have not mapped out how many scenes I have left um I

Know it’s not that many um I also don’t know if I will I was asked this question a couple days ago will you kind of take the farewell tour or will you kind of just Tim dunking it I’m 50/50 but I am a Laker and uh I

Am I’m happy and been very happy being a Laker the last six years and uh and hopefully it stays that way um but I don’t have the I don’t have the answer to how long it is or you know which uniform I’ll be in hopefully it is with

The Lakers it’s a great organization and so many greats but but we’ll see I don’t know how it’s going to end but it’s coming it’s coming for sure I mean those are some comments we haven’t heard from him maybe ever Wy you know him as well as anyone you’ve covered in some high

School what did you make of LeBron yesterday in his comments yeah a couple of things first off just you have to understand LeBron is negotiating he’s negotiating for potentially his last contract um he doesn’t want to leave the Lakers he certainly doesn’t want to walk walk away

From the $50 million they can pay him next year and quite frankly if the offside of his contract in June he could sign for three years in an excess of $150 million and it might take a little negotiation to get there and so that’s

Part of it the other thing is I I don’t I I think that he hasn’t closed the door on potentially going somewhere else as part of that negotiation strategy I do think the discussions that took place between the Lakers and Warriors should be remembered and are relevant I don’t

Think that’s the direction he’s going to go but let’s see how this season ends for both of those teams and I’m not going to close any doors cuz he’s not either yeah and look here’s the one thing we know about LeBron he’s going to be front and center of the conversation

Until he in fact decides he wants to walk away and the Lakers begin their second half schedule Thursday at the Warriors pick into the second half we want to get your three windy wonders these second half story lines that you windy find the most intriguing well you know it’s going to

Be the we’re going to start with the Lakers that’s what we do here at ESPN the Lakers have won eight of their last 11 games and in that stretch Matt if you can believe it they’ve been the most potent offensively since they’ve been since 1987 that’s right Prime Showtime

Was the last time they were this good offensively it’s been led by D’Angelo Russell the key for me is how healthy is LeBron’s ankle he hinted he might need to miss more time for some treatment including Thursday’s game against the Warriors as a possibility okay the Warriors themselves now they come in to

The break on a hot streak and they’ve made a big important lineup change this is what I call the two timeline starting lineup Brandon psky has replaced Klay Thompson Jonathan kaminga is in there and then they have their three guys Steph Curry Draymond Green Andrew Wiggins who are part of their

Championship team can this lineup continue to produce results and speaking of needing results Matt that would be the Milwaukee Bucks and instantly they they go in sort of limp in to the break just three and seven with Doc Rivers under as head coach that would just going to say they are playing better

Defense they have gone from one of the worst defensive teams in the league to one of the sort of the middle of the pack that’s Improvement but they’ve gone from one of the best offensive teams to one of the worst offensive teams now I believe that they’re going to figure it

Out there’s some data that supports that their shooting should be better and Dame Lillard’s been in a terrible slump since January 1st maybe this great All-Star Weekend three-point champ MVP will get him out of that for the bucks who need wins coming immediately

On SportsCenter, Brian Windhorst joins Matt Barrie to talk through the Brooklyn Nets firing Jacque Vaughn, LeBron James’ future and the state of NBA All-Star weekend. Plus, he presents “Windy’s Wonders” in the NBA after the All-Star break.

  1. When people make 50 mil a year…they don’t care about 500k as an incentive. They can make more than that by going on IG promoting toothpaste. Facts.

  2. They’re getting paid the biggest contracts in league history due to inflation and they’re not being competitive enough, so the answer is give them more money…

  3. Get rid of the team game and do a 1v1 tournament. Something better than that trash they happened. I'd like to see KD vs LeBron 1v1.

  4. If you want to save your channel, I think more videos like this will help. We want to hear more opinion from you.

  5. Players keep giving fans the middle finger and we'll slowly stop watching. They don't care though as the ripple effect will not hit them(it will hurt the players coming after them)

  6. I lold when Adam gave the trophy "…. well.. you scored the most points. Here's the tropthy" 😂 also these scores have to do with the Talent of the league. "The 90s was better" half of those dudes couldn't even dribble left and now look at these guys. Do people want them to miss on purpose so it's close? 😂

  7. How about 48×5=240 min…240/12=20 mins each… each player gets 20 mins…top 12 players that have worst plus/ minus in those 20 mins get shot in the face by pellet guns

  8. It all started with the load management…players seen that they could get away with whatever they want… and it turned into a snowball effect… these millionaires don't care about the fans they just care about themselves. Its pathetic.

  9. To fix the Allstar game, they need to add points to the score for defense plays and award to the best defensive player a trophy. The points:

    1 point defensive rebounds
    2 points defensive turnovers
    3 points for steals/block
4 points for steals/block and scoring in transition

  10. Just cancel the notion of all star altogether. We already have all NBA honours which largely do the same thing. What's the point in being named and all star on top of that if the game which is supposed to showcase the best talent in the world is unwatchable.

  11. It’s pretty simple imo. Make whoever wins the all-star game have home court advantage for the finals the same way baseball does

  12. The NBA players competitive spirit is impacted by BAD decisions and as we all know the NBA All-Star weekend is for the current and former NBA Players, NBA Teams, Owners, Executive, Journalist, and NBA families! As Commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver must prevent low G League NBA players from participating in the All-Star NBA players slam dunk contest because it's not brave for a low G League NBA player (Matthew McClung) to receive an NBA slam dunk contest awards (2023 & 2024) just for practicing different slam dunks before the NBA All-Star weekend. Bad enough the NBA G League only play 34 games during regular season. Let's make sure NBA players continue to celebrate their hard work with respect because their the one's living out of a suitcase competing back-to-back games every other night, selling their brand name sneakers all over the world as fans get to VOTE for their NBA player and see them participate in the NBA skills challenge, slam dunk contest, and All-Star weekend game. No one never voted for low G League NBA player Matthew McClung to take part in NBA All-Star weekend slam dunk contest in 2023 or 2024. Let's make sure it doesn't happen again.

  13. Here’s how to make the all-star game competitive: 1) Keep East vs West 2) substantial prize money 3) make it count on the record. Winners get +1 to their conference record. Losers get -1 for their conference record. (Punishment and reward applies to all of East vs west conference team’s records)

  14. Lebron James is looking to jump to another team that is already heading for a championship. Hes done that his entire career.

  15. Haven’t watched an NBA all star game in over a decade because of the same weak a$$ effort… thanks I’m good. My time can be spent watching something worthwhile

  16. Nba has been unwatchable for the past decade. They have too much money, and cry too much

  17. lol. Adam silver the players don’t take you seriously. Just like your load management rules didn’t work. Worst commissioner.

  18. Not sure that financial incentives should be part of the All Star Game at this point. Players are compensated tremendously as it stands.

  19. Perhaps the All Star Game should simply be an All Star Weekend with an opportunity for fans to come and get autographs and photo ops with NBA Stars. Have two highly ranked high school teams play a game to represent the East and West. If the weekend needs to be pushed back a couple of weeks for the high school teams to be available, so be it.

  20. They could of got all their draft picks back and have a ton of players that are valuable and worth picks and they could had a haul of picks going into a rebuild instead they have this.. The nets are a team of high level role players.. They do not have a star I have no idea what that front office is thinking..

  21. I mean players are supposed to care about championships not all star weekend. Imagine going all out and hurting yourself before the playoffs. Adam silver is expecting too much people are expecting too much period

  22. Of course with no defance played in the league LeBron can score 25ppg a night 2006 it would be 15ppg stats don’t matter anymore in todays game nobody’s can average 20ppg

  23. Well we almost to the end bron bron 🎉 we hand fun theses 20 years you was the best in this generation hand down !
