[Zach Lowe] One of the rumblings ahead of the trade deadline — and it’s one that I believe to be true — is that the Rockets, in an attempt to lure Mikal Bridges out of Brooklyn, offered their [Brooklyn’s] picks and swaps back.

If that was really their initial offer, we could’ve negotiated even higher. This will probably come back to haunt us like not trading Doe for 2 picks.

Hopefully they’ll still be interested in the summer

  3. fire sean marks. Marks defenders truly are morons.

I don’t fully see the logic from either team if this is true, which I’m starting to concede seems more likely with how many people keep reporting it. I’m not as despairing and/or pissed as others, I kinda just go w/ the flow of the team because what else am I gonna do, have an ulcer over my hobby? If they suck, they suck, and I guess I’ll get cheap tickets…

But yeah, it’s odd that we’d be *that* committed to Bridges…and odder, still, that Houston would make the offer. I’ve seen the argument that the picks aren’t that great, and also that a lot of players like Bridges so he himself might be a star magnet somehow, but it’s all very odd still…unless Marks & Co. know something we don’t and that hasn’t been reported about what we can do this summer or next season to get some star, I’m not sure Bridges is young enough to be part of whatever eventual contender they imagine the team will be in 2, 3,5, 7, whatever years.

  5. I don’t think the Rockets would give back multiple unprotected first round picks. There probably are some missing details here.

Best chance to hit the reset button. Marks is so dumb I can believe this

For everyone that wanted to trade for our picks back, I really think you need to look at what we owe Houston. Our first this year in an awful draft, a swap in 2025 and 2027 and a 2026 first.

There are a lot of bad teams and with the new lottery odds there’s a good chance we could end up being like the Wizards, Pistons or Hornets. Consistently picking from 3-8 with nothing to show for it.

Also have people been paying attention to the Rockets??? They’re 24-30. There’s a non-zero chance that we end up with a better record than them this season. There’s a chance some of those swaps don’t even convey and even if they do, it could only be a couple of draft spots. So yeah it makes sense for the Rockets to want to do this deal.

Based on the deals that actually went through (see bogdanovic)
I’ll call bullshit. Was never offered. Shit trade market this year.

Was also a rumour of 5 x 1st rounders at one stage. (Had to be bullshit)

Marks shouldn’t answer shit if nothing’s 100% confirmed.

i have to think there are details missing.

If we didn’t go through with this but still was keen on possibly firing Vaughn then Marks should absolutely lose his job.

The news reports has us as a bigger joke of a franchise than the Chicago Bulls…. Take that in for a second…

A lot of cope on this thread. This was the ultimate life preserver, a get out of jail free card. And we declined on the hope that Donovan Mitchell wants to come here in 2 years.

Why would Mitchell want to play for the second team in New York that is one of the 8-10 worst teams in the league? If he wants to be in NYC, he would just go to the better run franchise.

And even if we get Mitchell, to what end, the 6 or 7 seed? We’d have to give up a lot of assets to get him.

  13. It didn’t happen. It’s not going to happen. The Nets are not rebuilding. They are building around mikal who reiterated his desire to be here today. It’s time to move on. It’s also time to realize that if a team was willing to give up that much that should confirm that Bridges IS WORTH BUILDING AROUND
