ESPN’s @BobbyMarks42 on what a potential Jonathan Kuminga contract extension would look like in the summer: “Probably what you’re looking at in Minnesota with Jaden McDaniels. He got 5 for $131M. You’re probably looking at $30M per year.”

Thoughts on this? I do wonder what the implications could be for Klay’s impending free agency….

If he continues his production from his last 20 games going forth that sounds about right.

#Offer that contract the minute you can… Set the Market. Pay that kid.

Don’t wait for Alperen Sengun or Jalen Johnson or Josh Giddey or anyone else. Just get a good number and sign the dotted line 30M ain’t shit for a star. Waiting to see the market is exactly how Poole went from a 20M/yr projection in April to a 32M/yr plus incentives actuality in September. 150/5. Omg Nike just do it. That’s such a value for his 27 year old season. I’m no brakes on this sentiment.

    Jalen Brunson… Good contract. 4/104

    Anfernee Simons… okay contract. 4/100

Tyler Herro… not good contract. 4/130

Jordan Poole… abomination unto mankind. 4/140

See what happens when you’re fourth instead of first.

    #Be first. Play no games.

    Jaden is paid $30 million?!

    Jesus

    Everyone is so overpaid

While I love Klay, this should help him have a better understanding of his current value

  5. FeelTheRealBirdie

So what happens if they pay him then he becomes like JP? Surely the front office wont make the same mistake again

131 FOR JADEN MCDANIEL ???!!! WTF ?! Just shut down the league already.
It’s gonna take a legit brain surgeon like 100 years to make that kinda money. Pay disparity is at its finest.

This could explain why the Warriors have been shackling him for two years- trying to get him on a nice deal. (I don’t believe this, but it would explain some things)

  8. if kuminga signs a 5 year 130 million dollar extension it would kick in during the 2025/26 NBA season

curry’s current contract runs out after 2025/26

wiggins’ current contract runs out after 2026/27

green’s current contract runs out after 2026/27

the only other players current on the warriors roster who are signed thru 2025/26 are podziemski, santos, jackson-davis

warriors at this time would have a committed 150+ million in total salary for those 7 players on the roster,

Man. While it isn’t fans’/ our money on those contracts, attending games is going to get even more expensive.

  10. Nessmuk58

    Jonathan “Second Apron” Kuminga.

My nightmare is that we re-sign him on a huge contract and then he does a Jordan Poole.

  11. Fergie_The_Shiba

No bro, im sorry but let that man earn that bread 🤦🏾‍♂️ . Give him all that money too early then it’s gonna be the next Jordan Poole situation

  12. georgelamarmateo

There’s no way he’s hustling for rebounds after that

  13. I lovww kuminga but… if he wants it now what is he giving up..idiots always disregard leverage as w poole.

No way kuminga signs an extension without playing out the year. He should clearly be the #2 for a full season next year, if Steph misses time he’ll get to showcase as the #1 and will prob improve in the off season. He will be gunning for an all-star spot, 20 ppg which can net him a max contract. I’m sure the warriors would love to avoid paying him that but Kuminga would need to accept the smaller contract. If he was an injury prone guy I could see him taking the safer choice.

  15. Moctezumas_heir

If he gets paid, he can’t pull a “Poole” and regress in his game

See. Kerr was just intentionally not playing to keep his value down.
