The Jalen Green experience is over, thanks for the memories time to move on

  2. Intelligent-Bid-633

Jalen Green is barely an NBA player.

  3. Sc0rch1ngDr4g0n

    Well that was painful.

Sengun looked rough, especially defensively and against JV, but at least he had an efficient 20/9 in 3 quarters and could draw fouls. Amen is great and has definitely earned a key rotation spot, and will see some good development if Fred is out for a bit. Fred had some rough moments and TOs even before the head hit, so not sure what’s going on there. As often the case with Jalen, some flashes of on-ball D and passing but inefficient scoring. Dillon has trouble with guarding Zion but he wasn’t chucking at least. Jabari couldn’t get many rebounds and didn’t have much offensive use.

It’s just one game, so at least I can run with the rusty excuse for a bit. But not a good sign to start off this rough. Wouldn’t be fun to end off on just Amen/Cam development and draft tracking.

Imo the top 10 teams now will be top 10 at the end of the season

  5. I hope that at least the season will be saved by Amen’s (and hopefully Cam’s) development. At this rate, there won’t be much to celebrate beyond that.

  6. venitienne

On the bright side, Amen is a total stud. Beast of a playmaker, rebounder, and defender. Looking like a more aggressive Ben Simmons (which is fantastic). I expect him to be starting within the next 5 games.

  7. planetspeed42

Amen giving me hope. Not much else to hope for tonight.

  8. PkEvolution

just shut Tari down for the season. if its broke, go ahead with the surgery. coming back for the rest of the season ain’t going to make a difference.

  9. Yea amen if deff the starter. Anything other is tanking for sho knows why. Maybe it gives stone like a crack rush when we tank.

  10. Return_Icy

See a lot of people ripping on JG and while he did have a bad shooting game, he’s not the reason Zion and Valanciunas absolutely destroyed the Rockets. Maybe he hits a few more of those shots and the Rockets lose by 10 instead of 20, but if you can’t stop the other team’s big men you don’t have a shot

Rockets basketball is not for the weak

  12. Amen needs to start over Jalen. I’m through with the jalen experiment

  13. WuziMuzik

People already scapegoating green this game and ignoring all the problems that have nothing to do with him. Udoka doesn’t need to change the starters, he needs to change his rotations. And actually have a competent offense. He doesn’t play compatible lineups in his rotations. He doesn’t have enough plays to help players get open or get good looks. And he ignores so many things on that side, while over fixating on defense even at times when defense isn’t what the problem is. I hope he can be an actual good coach, but a offensively so far he absolutely needs to be better.

Can’t win when the starting back court is so damn inefficient

  15. Shootit_Rockets

Never thought the Rockets would be the worst run team in Houston yet here we are

Not saying this is why the game was lost, but the turning point felt like the when we had that weird line-up towards the end of the 1st and kept it on the floor for too long. We lost all hope of recovery after that stretch. There’s definitely some coaching and management issues with this team.

I think we are doing Jalen a disservice by not being decisive about his performance. Putting myself in his shoes it’s all mixed signals, and I wouldn’t be able to tell what the franchise was trying to make of me. Do they care I can’t shoot? What are they not liking about my performance? If there are any issues then why do I keep getting minutes? These talks might be happening behind the scenes, but in interviews etc I’m not seeing a Jalen confident about and bought into what he’s being asked to do. It’s just not working on both sides and we are wasting yet another year of his development if they don’t know what to do with him. Or just lock the guy in a gym and have him practice shooting 24/7. Our perception of him would be quite different if he was shooting even league averages.

Right now Cam is an unknown, and we deserve to know more. Might be better to take minutes from Jalen so that we can give him more chances. Personally I’m not as buzzed on Cam as the rest of the folks here – his ceiling is much higher than JG (not a tough bar to clear), but floor might actually be the same if not lower. He shows flashes of brilliance, but also makes super dumb plays sometimes as if he’s a basketball god who can’t miss any shot he takes. Big risk of low IQ, run-and-gun, super selfish plays or tunnel vision. His shooting percentages will probably regress towards the mean when he gets more minutes. The gist of it though is we need to unpack this and give him more minutes stat so that we have a more accurate picture. The team desperately needs scoring threats except Sengun because when they collapse on him we have no consistent plays to go to.

We are a mess offensively without FVV on the floor. Ime needs to establish some hierarchy. Our offensive shortcomings then create a domino effect which places undue burden on defense – no amount of defense, no matter how excellent, will overcome our glaring issues on offense and our horrible shooting. I see this weird narrative around Sengun’s defense as if he’s culpable for this team’s losses and it’s ridiculous. It’s like this team’s 10th most important flaw. He can definitely show more effort more consistently on defense, and bulk up a bit and improve his conditioning to match opposing players in terms of physicality (although he’s our only consistent scorer so it might come at the expense of his speed and flexibility, which he low key relies a lot on to contort his body in weird ways and score under the rim) Except sometimes Dillon our whole defense is also very stagnant and just watches their teammates get run over.

All in all, this team needs tighter coaching on both ends. I think the time to blame players is over. If there’s one thing that’s been consistent, this team has failed to grow their young prospects, and very easily loses the rhythm of the game and all semblance of a system on the floor. You can’t fix players’ individual issues and accept a system to emerge all on its own.

    Jalen “Killian Hayes” Green

Stone going to hold onto him so long the next GM is just going to cut him.

  18. lambopanda

Just got back home and I see we still suck on the road. And the no 6 man is still very bad.

  19. PapiGoneGamer

If you’re still holding on to hope for Jalen to be the centerpiece of this team, you need to find a therapist tomorrow. Dude is officially a bust.

  20. YotaMan77

Waive Lawndale, sign Dwight Howard on vet min for the remainder of the season until Adams starts next year.
Couldnt be any worse. He’d be our 3rd player with championship experience.

  21. Bewaretheicespiders

Its was just red carpet night for Zion tonight. Wide open all the way to the basket. The mismatch with Brooks was painful to watch.

But mostly it was the turnovers. Jeez the Rockets weren’t playing with any confidence and that was across the whole team.

  22. Hey guys Nets fan here. Our coach just got fired and everyone is still wishing we had signed Udoka. What is everyones opinion on Udoka? Do you guys feel like he’s doing a good job despite the record or not? I feel like our team with the injuries we’ve had and the talent we have no coach can really fix it. But Udoka imo could’ve helped us win more games than we have now. Just curious what people think of him on this Rockets team.
