[Lewenberg] On the other hand, the Raptors pass Memphis for the 7th-worst record in the NBA, which would give them a 32% chance of keeping their own pick (down from 45.8% if they were to finish 6th-worst). So, depending on what you’re rooting for, this was either a big win or a bad non-loss.

Considering their schedule strength is ranked 20th, and they don’t completely own their own pick, they can’t tank it seems.

  2. We were never gonna out-tank the Grizzlies.

we’re 7th now but Rockets and Nets don’t wan to tank.so if there’s like 10 games left and our play-in window is bad, we can decide to tank hard and get top 7 entering the draft lottery I guess

I will never be a tank fan. It can be a never ending cycle, just look at the Pistons

  4. Nice-Elk-1168

No point in tanking who cares. Let’s just watch how far they can go 😉 and they will get some good experience.

I hope we continue to try to win, losing culture can be tough to get out of. From what I hear about this and next years draft classes I would rather lose this years pick than next years.

tanking for the #6 pick is not gonna make or break this franchise

they already traded it just move on

  7. -crackhousebob

They can’t just stop trying. They are more talented than their record would suggest. That being said, trying to compete for the play-in is pointless.

  8. Fans mad that their team is winning competently is some psycho shit

One reasons why I’d rather end up keeping out pick this year, then conveying next year’s pick is because I don’t see us being bad next year.

I think we will have a much better record next year

I’ve been cheering for Cleveland since they’ve been so hot, to take the 1 seed because while it’s still a loooong loooong loooong shot, I could delude myself into imagining a couple wins against the bulls and magic to make it in, and then making it interesting vs the Cavs. Whereas Boston would be a sweep for sure.
But Cavs lost again tonight and Boston is cooking, so I doubt they have a chance to catch em anymore.

  11. If the team is fun, it’s not worth tanking

Got enough hope that this group is fun, so don’t ruin it

    Just play basketball.

We made the mistake of putting shitty protections on the pick and have to live with it.

Just play the season out and try to make the pick as bad as possible for the Spurs while developing BBQ in the process. Games like last night and tonight are entertaining for the fans.

Even at 6th worst, there’s still a higher chance we lose the pick, so it’s really not logical to chase for it. I’d rather see improvements with our current group and take it from there.

I just struggle to get excited with anyone at the top. I just don’t see any game changers. There’s just something lacking with each of the top prospects imo. So I guess that helps me to be at peace with losing the pick this year, especially since we have 2 picks already. Whereas we wouldn’t have any next year if the pick doesn’t convey this year.

    Congrats play-in fans.

We fucking up the tank smh

  15. CanadianGenerationX

Should clearly tank at this point. Not doing it last year was bad enough.

  16. devries6276

I think we will not end bottom 6 next year or the year after, so I’d want the pick to stay with us this draft.

Having said that, players don’t tank, front offices do. So I want them to keep doing their best and learn from it and let it happen no matter what happens with this year’s draft

  17. CincoQuallity

I don’t really understand the ‘pro tank’ aspect at this point. They’ve clearly picked a direction, yeah? It’s obviously a rebuild. This is it.

I figured, at this point, fans would prefer to see their young team play hard and try to win games. Seeing some people upset that they’re not losing is just bizarre.

They’re absolutely a work in progress, and will have their fair share of losses along the way. Maybe try to enjoy the wins that happen here and there. It’s actually kinda fun.

  18. Rocinante24

You don’t need to tank when you’ve got BBQ.

  19. Junkposterlol

Fans of tanking aren’t fans of basketball. Even when it’s a legit strat it’s making your team used to losing and completely fucks up development. I hope the Raptors never consider it again.

  20. I’d rather give the spurs the pick this year so we can just draft next year, we’re gonna be around the same position if not worse in a better draft 🤷🏻

  21. yetagainitry

Isn’t it better if we lose this pick? This years draft doesn’t really have any standout talent. If we keep this pick then don’t we give up an unprotected pick the next year instead?

  22. Jack_1080

Scottie and co need some playoff experience together.
