W Steve you agreed to a contract extension today it’s kind of the the bigger news of the day um just any comments on that uh nothing has been signed so Raymond has asked me to hold off on commenting on anything until an actual contract is signed so I’m going

To follow his orders how do you feel about your future here just really good thank you that was not the prettiest game I think from the get-go is that just a a back-to-back thing or you guys had been playing so well uh D just you know he’s

Got to kind of get over kind of a clunker out there and get a win uh was a great uh way to to win just you know on a night when I kind of knew both teams were going to be tired coming off the back Tob backs off of the All-Star Break

Um I think Steph is tired just from the whole week from going to Indianapolis getting a two-day vacation and then playing back to back so I thought fatigue was a factor for both teams but I really liked our defensive effort um you know to hold um that team to 84 and

Uh to challenge the shots the way we did take care of the paint and then only allow 11 free throw attempts it was it was a great defensive effort the offense was jumbled from the start but um that’s you know we’ve been playing so well at

That end of the floor we were probably due for one and um it was okay because of the defensive effort Steve I was going to ask you if that if that game was the reason you didn’t sign yet was it right right you you ended the game you pulled

You know your guys I mean obviously the game is over but you got a lot of guys in there who need to make a few plays how like I guess invigorated are you by the amount of young talent that still needs developing and and the growth that’s there

This has been a a really fun season challenging season I know we’ve lost a number of close games but uh as a coach and as a staff you know when we see the the growth of our young players and we want we’re watching them uh grow up literally before our

Eyes it’s a very U satisfying feeling and it’s a great group it’s a really wonderful group of players and uh I look forward to coming to the gym every day and seeing all these guys um so we have a a really fun mix of of vets who are

You know Hall of Famers Champions and then these these young guys who are learning and growing and um just feels like the chemistry and the connection within the group is is really really strong and uh it makes for a fun team to coach Steve agreed to to your extension

Today which you know kind of a lot of money yeahoo uh but I mean you know it kind of locks him in to you know to to ride this this era out a little bit just what do you think of it I think it’s incredible um wouldn’t want to finish my time here

With any other coach uh and what he’s meant to this franchise uh what he’s done for us as players uh the winning ways that he brought here is uh you don’t you can’t replace that and so very happy for Steve and his family uh got what he deserves um which

Is the it’s the largest salary in coaching history right per year I mean pic is right there but it’s ballpark yeah it would pop this and get much better than that and that’s exactly the realm of coaching he you know when you look at coaches as a whole that’s the

Realm that he’s in so uh happy to see and it’s great knowing that you know we’ll all be in this together it’s rare for a coach to get as close as he did to his deal expiring was there any concern or or doubt from your side or no because I know

Um you know I know Joe’s going to do the right thing uh he’s he’s done nothing but build that trust uh with us to know that he’s going to could do the right thing and what’s best and take care of those that have taken care of this

Organization you know and so I didn’t really have much doubt how have you Ed out for the answer
