Brian Windhorst: “I think LeBron is angling to sign a multi-year deal in the offseason with the Lakers that will be nine figures. That will be even bigger than the deal he is on now. “

>”I don’t think this is LeBron’s last stand, I don’t think this is the Lakers’ last stand,” Windhorst said on First Take. “First off, I think LeBron is angling to sign a multi-year deal in the offseason with the Lakers that will be nine figures. That will be even bigger than the deal he is on now. Now, whether or not he’s able to finish that deal, whether or not the Lakers want to give him a three-year contract and pay him $60 million when he’s 42 years old, that’s a different discussion.”

.500 team paying a 40 year old 9 figures. What could go wrong

i say this as a lebron fan:

i really do not know why the lakers would do this. seems like it would really handcuff them in a few years

  3. someone explain the over 38 rule to me and how it would affect this contract

  4. Lakers are finished until 2030 if they do that.

Probably trying to get as much money as he can in his playing career for when he buys a franchise

  6. CabbageStockExchange

Worth it imo. It’s LeBron James and the Lakers have always been a star thinking organization.

People say this would handcuff our roster. I mean our teams have been shit anyway what difference would it make. Rob doesn’t put the right pieces and when he does, Ham doesn’t use them right anyway.

  7. boaby_gee

He should be taking a wage cut at this point in his career so he can have a better supporting cast.

  8. kobmug_v2

Is r/nba really going to pretend that LeBron is not a max player anymore?

  9. Netwealth5

This almost certainly would mean Bronny is going back to college if he was serious about that

  10. goblue202320242025

That seems like a crazy deal that could age poorly

  11. OriginalBus9674

Man, his salary is going to guarantee they can’t put together fully competitive roster and I’m okay with it.

  12. Shwaginson

Hahahahahaha! Wait, they are serious?! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  13. BenTommyClarkStaley

If he wants to win, maybe he can look at his ludicrous bank account and take a team discount for a few years and make a real serious go at more rings. 🤷‍♂️

Say goodbye to contention tor the next decade, Lakers. We’ll save you a seat here in lottery land

  15. bearcatjoe

Good for LeBron, the Lakers brand, and cash flow. Bad for actually being able to win a championship.

Love Lebron but this is the opposite of what he should be doing. Man has made over a billion dollars. Take a pay cut and get another star player that compliments you and AD. Never going to win his 5th when he is the second highest salary on the roster at his age.

Guys like Tobias and Deandre can get a max contract and instantly not be worth the contract 5 mins later. Would still take Lebron in 3 years over these guys that get the same contract just so they won’t leave to another team.

Lakers also have no cap space so even if Lebron took a pay cut, him and Dlo would have to sign for min contracts in the off season for the lakers to have any money

  18. PsychoWarper

This is an awful idea for the Lakers, Lebron is 40 and they are not contending atm they need to start looking to reset not bring Lebron back.

  19. If Lebron signs a multiyear 9 figure multiyear deal with the Lakers, the last stand was last season.

We won’t have the cap room for anyone besides Lebron, AD, Reaves and 12 guys from this sub.

  20. IgnorantGenius

If he finesses them for that at 39, he is truly the GOAT.

  21. Pucks_N_Fucks

This guys got his below average college playing kid in draft conversations…

  22. gbdarknight77

I don’t see how lakers can even give him a 3 year deal? Unless he means opting in and then signing an extension.

At his age, isn’t he only eligible for 2 year deals by CBA rules?

  23. Novel_Huckleberry435

Life long Laker fan and I can’t wait until Lebron is gone

  24. I know we all think it’s dumb to do that but honestly it’s the lakers and lebron, they are probably backing trucks up to the bank daily cause of him

  25. KiteIsland22

It’s smart for the Lakers to take care of their superstars until they retire. They took care of Kobe and signed LeBron afterwards. They’ll take care of LeBron and sign another superstar afterwards. I’m sure Tatum will end up a Laker in the future.

I’d love to see Lebron play at 50 years old
