Has corrected itself we’re back baby and we’re probably back for I would guess several years so you don’t have to worry about it um thanks for thanks for your patience and if you were impatient I’m sorry um but also thanks for thanks for being impatient because it means you
Were checking on the program okay in today’s show uh darn darn really uh the Blazers lose to the Miami Heats we will recap that game uh they lose DeAndre into injury he didn’t play in the second half we’ll talk about that to lead off the program
And then um you know in our in our preview of this game I got one thing deeply wrong DeAndre Aon and I got one thing right tman Kamara kind of kind of had himself a little game and and uh made good on a request that of things
You would love to see we’ll talk about that to close the show let’s talk about da first darn okay here’s here’s what happened on yesterday’s program I leted off the show talking about how DA has been the bright spot and I kind of I I gave some little
Statistical updates on sort of how he’s been better as of late um since he’s returned from injury in the middle of January and what he’s been like over the last six weeks um you know including you know obviously there was they took a week off for the allstar break but after
The last 15 games over the last 6 weeks where he’s just he’s like he’s been pretty good he’s been he’s been um one of the Blazer’s most consistent players he’s been really good on offense he’s just making jumpers and and and I kind
Of I I I I gave the sort of stats update on on so h on how he has improved but I said it with a caveat that the last time I talked about DeAndre playing a lot better he came out with a stinker the following game he had
Two points and fouled out against the t-wolves got fouled out with like 10 minutes left from the game in the fourth quarter and had two points it was awful the wi of the All-Star break and I said you know I’m not afraid of a jinx I’m
Not afraid of a jinx um deand Dayton’s playing well and I’m not going to shy away from saying someone’s playing well not this year not covering this team not doing this podcast the way I want to do it like I’m not um call a spade a spade when they play
Bad I call them bad when they play good you got to call them good you know that’s that’s like the that’s the fa the way I try to be fair about doing this and Beyond fair just Fearless I can’t think that I matter I’m not I have no
Impact on the games and deand dren comes out against the Heat and my man is hooping he’s hooping and then Kevin Love Takes a charge on him in the first quarter and he falls down kind of on top of Kevin Love and his right hand gets tucked
Under his body and kind of lands like in between DA’s own body like own butt and and um Kevin loves Shin he kind of lands he kind of his hand gets tucked under him as he collapses and clearly as the moment he falls down his hand is hurt
Like he he’s he reaches for his right hand he’s like you can just you can you could see it as clear as day live and certainly on the on the replays like yeah da hurt his hand uh leaves the game comes back plays the second quarter finishes the first half with 12 points
10 boards two assists two Steals and a block in 18 and a half minutes hooping it’s been hooping for a month comes out is hooping again against the Heat and I thought this was going to be a tough game for him cuz I think bam matab bio
Is like uniquely skilled to kind of take away what da wants to do with his mobility and his physicality and his um and he’s just like he contest shots really well and it didn’t matter and I thought da played well and got to his got to his jump hook and was active and
Was an active active on defense and he was just playing really well but then he doesn’t come out halim and do oper starts and the Blazers announced that he’s questionable to return with a sprained hand but if he’s questionable to return and then he’s not back
Out you know his Knight’s done and they eventually confirm that his Knight’s done and that’s it the Blazers offense kind of melts down in the second half without da um they also just didn’t shoot well but he’s part of that cuz he would help open up the floor a little
Bit at least with just drawing some attention and that’s that the Blazers mostly play small they didn’t even you know Moses Brown’s hurt he’s been hurt for extended period of time and so they don’t have like that another Emergency Center and IU baji was not um with the
Team tonight he was with the G League team he On Assignment so um the the Blazers really only had one other Center on the roster in duop reath they play had to play small with with Jabari Walker at Center um and that wasn’t the reason that they lost like necessarily I
Don’t know that DeAndre haon plays and the Blazers have a guaranteed Victory but I know they were up 10 at halftime and he was playing really well I think that part is like the rest of it is conjecture right like objection your honor but like factually they were up 10
And playing well and he was playing well and then the thing fell apart and they lost the second half by 20 they won his minutes big too like if you’re into plus minus um they outscored the heat by 14 with da on the court you know they as a team they outscored the
Heat by 10 in the first half um like all of the minutes matter um but uh but yeah he you know they were they were winning his minutes he’s playing well and it just puts them in such a crappy spot they’re already in such a crappy spot because it’s just
Like what do you watching this team for and I don’t mean that to be like they’re it’s useless I mean like I do kind of mean it’s useless I don’t know why I’m hedging what I really mean is like what you’re hoping to watch from this team is
Guys that are going to be part of the team next year and da seems like he’s just like very clearly going to be part of the team next year but it’s like no no Shan shanen sharp no scoot Henderson now no da it’s like just tune in to watch Jeremy Grant
Andre Simon shoot a lot and it’s hard to put the like they just don’t have the roster to put together functional they’re they have no depth at Center to put together like functional lineups du is a good player like a fun player um and then the sort of advanced numbers suggest that he’s
He’s pretty darn impactful but like you can watch him play he’s limited on defense um he doesn’t have the Arsenal that da does on offense but he can shoot threes or does shoot threes and and um um and opens up the floor in that way and he’s it’s not like he’s just going
To be this terrible negative like he didn’t play very well in this particular game uh scoreless in his 12 and a half minutes and they they mostly went small because of it but like Do’s going to have his Knights but the depth behind him doesn’t isn’t there and asking duath to play 30
Minutes a night is probably unfair and when guys who are role players get stretched to play bigger minutes then they get exposed and they look worse and everything feels worse uh and when Da missed a big chunk of time it was the worst stretch of the Blazer season by a
Long shot um you know it gets start in December the they open January on the road and they just get absolutely thrashed and they look unplayable like they just look like the worst team in the NBA um some of that is just the roster around him and that’s not
Certainly not deand drayton’s fault it’s not chony bbs’s fault either um he didn’t build the roster um I know who did his name’s Joe groin but like they weren’t trying to build this like hyper competitive roster and when Rob Williams got hurt at the beginning of the year it
Derailed the whole plan anyways um you know he gets hurt November for the rest of the season he was your backup center and they were going to have a really good Center core now no you know they just it’s just the things keep piling up
Um it’s just hard to say like okay well this is a great opportunity for like fill in the blank it’s not it’s a it’s an opportunity for them to play less functional basketball that’s that’s the frustrating part they’ll be less functional because of it Dia had been
Really really solid he just my man operates between 20t and 4 feet no further away no closer under any circumstances but he makes a bunch of shots shoots like 60% on a bunch of hook shots and jumpers and he play was playing very well against the Heat it stinks I don’t I
Don’t that’s my take like um you know I want to give you a little context so that’s my take uh let’s go fastest recap in the west talk about what happened in this game and a little bit more on uh on on the play of some folks and I got a

Overstatement Blaze were winning this game and playing really well they I thought they bounced back and played a really solid first half they’re up 2815 after one uh took a 56 46 lead into the break before DA got hurt you know they made eight of their first 13 threes so
You knew it was going to come back to earth right like they’re just like there’s not going to shoot that well it’s it’s just no team is really going to shoot that well the Blazers specifically aren’t aren’t aren’t going to shoot that well but uh Jeremy Grant
Hit his first three threes athrey Simons hit his first two threes as a team they made eight of the first 13 they finished the first half nine of 19 from three nine threes in the first half is a big number for the Blazers um but again like
They closed the first half one of one of six from three they were really hot early so you knew it was coming back right you knew it was coming back but then da gets hurt and it’s like well the shooting regression is is is already going to come a little bit because of
Just that the the nature of the sport and and also like da he’s he he just commands so much attention right like he’s going to go to his office which is right there in the middle of the court at the foul line he’s going to live at
The nail he’s going to set screens and he’s going to stop right there at 15 fet he’s going to jab he’s going to he’s going to demand attention he’s going to bring a you know if if he starts to drive they’re going to bring a little
Bit of help he’s he’s always going to just have some gravity in the way that the Blazers other bigs who are going to play in this game to dman doop wath I don’t know that was six names it was Jabari Walker duop wath and toan Kamar all combined into one but
Duop wath and and Jabari Walker like they’re just not going to command that type of attention that da is and da is also you know he was doing work on the glass 10 rebounds in the first half like um you know he’s he’s they missed him but they were also
Due to miss shots so it was it was like both things were coming they were just it was just natural and then the third quarter just got away from the Blazers they out scored 34 to 20 uh they go from up 10 to down four heading into the fourth
Quarter but they hung in the game you know tied it back up early in the fourth quarter a nice drive by Tani Kamara uh but but they struggled in in the second half and and they after the heat kind of went on a little run to open the fourth
Quarter it never got close and the Blazers when uh Caleb Martin hit a three-pointer put to put Miami up 12 with just under 2 minutes to go the Blazers eventually wave the white flag and they lose 1069 96 that’s your fastest recap in the west you know anrey Simons 26 points
Four assists um he started really well and he was bad after bad late kind of the same with Jeremy Grant he was 24 points on 715 shooting um but he was he he started red hot took three threes and made three threes early and then only
Took two two threes in the the remainder of the game in the final three quarters and missed him um you know he got to the foul line made seven of eight free throws I I thought Jeremy was fine he took one insane shot in the second half
Kind of fading to his left that was just um very bold but other than that I thought Jeremy was fine and an just struggled late in this game like he started really well and he struggled late it was like hey this is going to be
An anrey Simons game and then by the end like the heat are really good on defense I I I think I think that is like over the in February they’ve been a top a top five defense in the NBA they’re an excellent defensive team and they got their guys back Jimmy Butler returned
Nickovic returned not that he matters that much but you know you have Butler and Bam and and um Terry Rosier was back and and and and like their bench has been better uh with with the addition of of dlon w who’s now played two total games like they’ve they got a little bit
Of stuff like they they um they’re good on defense they missing Tyler hero in this one but they’re good on defense and they’re like just good enough on offense and and like I don’t want to reduce this to shooting um I do think like I’ve said
This on the show I think earlier this week is like the three-pointer has certainly like bastardized the NBA to the point where like it’s always been a Mak or Miss league but now teams take 403s a game so like the variance is extremely high and a team can just like
Get hot and you lose um but it’s like it’s always been that way teams just took 12f Footers 18 Footers uh when we were younger uh or depending on how old you are before you were were born like it it’s always been that way it’s it’s like that’s how basketball works
Sometimes shots go in you can’t dunk and make layups on every play so you got to take jumpers at some point but the Blazers were one of 12 from three in the second half and the heat were nine of 14 they missed da I don’t think it’s as
Simple as if DeAndre Aon plays they win guaranteed but I do think like they’ll have a better chance and it’s a cascading effect of like it’s harder on Ant because he doesn’t have as as that that outlet onp picking rolls it’s harder on Jeremy Grant because the help can come more aggressively with
Particularly when they were going small and having more non-shooters on the court like non-threats on the court it just it’s everything about it is is um it’s like it it’s exponentially more difficult it it doesn’t it’s it’s it grows that way so I don’t think it’s as simple I don’t
Think it’s as straightforward as hey well if da played the would have won but like da not playing made it tougher and then they just they were they were going to they were going to be worse from three in the second half and then it did like really really really came to
Fruition uh one of 12 in the second half one of six in the first uh in the third quarter 0 of six in the fourth quarter they just you know they they sent to the they sent the heat to the free throw line too much uh and and so even though
The Blazers had eight offensive rebounds and they took 12 more field goals um the heat took eight more free throws and it was difference in four shooting possessions that’s not a big enough possession game to make up for um the heat being plus 24 to the three-point
Line plus 24 to the three-point line guess what they lost the second half by 20 some sometimes it’s like that like I don’t it’s I don’t think it’s that simple because I think the Blazers offense just it was harder in the second half and I thought the Heat played
Better in the second half but like yeah that’s your 20 point swing is the is the plus plus 24 to the three-point line it’s pretty much right there the heater I mean the heat are better than the Blazers I don’t I’m not trying to sell you anything like they would have won if
They had made three more threes but like every everything kind of just it um it all it all came together for him okay I know I promised you a stat I teased you a stat that’s been floating around and I think is just confirmation bias at its
Finest uh I didn’t share it with you but I’m going to in the third segment I promise we’ll open the third sharing you the great confirmation by a stat that’s floating around the internet and I got the proof that it’s all nonsense join me in the third segment why don’t you but

Does not play that’s bad um I saw that stat first on rnba on Reddit uh and then it was floating around the Blazers Reddit page as well um and it’s true that’s a fact right like this this factually true um that they uh excuse me
I said 0 and 18 I I meant 0 and 16 I don’t mean I don’t mean to um no 0 and 18 I wrote it down I wrote down correct and now I’m second guessing myself 0 and 18 when brogen doesn’t play it’s factually correct sure no doubt about it
It’s true it’s true baby they’re 15 and 24 when he plays they’re 0 and 18 when he doesn’t play and Malcolm brog has been a steadying presence um I think you could make a pretty compelling case that he’s been the Blazer’s best guard this season um you can make the I don’t think
I buy it but he been of their best players maybe their best player that’s hard that’s hard for me to say without thinking about a little bit more just the fact that Malcolm Brogden is maybe their best player shows you what how their season has gone um I think
It’s neither here nor there um but but he’s been even if he hasn’t been their best player um because his highs maybe haven’t been as high as how good uh amre Simons was in in December he’s just been steady right he’s really Dependable that is Malcolm brogen’s best skill so when
You look at this and you say well yeah of course they haven’t won any games without Malcolm brogen he’s their steadying presence he’s their best guard might be their best player of course I’m not surprised by that the Blazers are apt and without Malcolm Brock’s studying presence they
Would be winless on the season perhaps because they’re no good that’s all I think that’s all fair it’s all fair but it’s also confirmation bi bias nonsense it’s nonsense y’all the Blazers are 1 and 13 now without scoot Henderson on the court do you ascribe the same steadying
Presence stuff to scoot Henderson or do you think he is a chaotic struggling rookie who was turning it over and shooting bricks like few other teens before him at the beginning of the Season perhaps one of the least efficient players in league history to begin his career and yeah the Blazers
Are 1 and 13 when he doesn’t play they desperately need scoot Henderson in the lineup it’s confirmation by here’s the real truth the blazes are are just they are light on depth they do not have enough good players to miss the people who are functional on their team
They don’t have enough guards they don’t have enough big men they got a bunch of kind of they got a bunch of dudes who play in the middle spots right um wings and forwards uh who are not quite centers and not quite point guards and they’re just they’re just missing ball
Handlers and missing true bigs um and I do think it’s real that Brogden is helpful and um and good uh you know I think I said in a show earlier this week that I think every Simons is better than him and I I still I still kind of do but
Boy has a been bad for for six weeks I think that’s undeniable um Brogden like I said maybe his high weren’t as high as aunt but his his his valleys aren’t as are as low either and I think that studying presence is why folks who don’t
Watch the games and can can can look stuff up on on the box score can say like hey they missed brogon where would they be without him where would they be without scoot Henderson and they’re 1 and 13 when scoot Henderson doesn’t play the truth is that they’re lacking a
Depth and what they need is more and better players they need more good players on the roster because then um it wouldn’t happen I will say both of those stats 0 and 18 without without Brogden one and 13 without scoo is pretty damning for anony Simons pretty damning
For him uh because if this was the year he was supposed to take the rains uh they’re going to need a self-driving car they’re going to drop the Clydesdales and and get themselves a self-driving car um but okay that’s just that’s the confirmation by a stat of the
Week that’s on the internet for you um the real truth is that the Blazers need guards and they just need players period uh but when someone tries to tell you hey they’re winless without without Malcolm brog just throw them out throw out the one in 13 without scoot
Henderson speaking of scoot Henderson an update that chony bips told reporters pregame say scoot Henderson is going to miss the Blazers upcoming three game Road Trip they’re just going to be really cautious with him um if he were to sit so he’ll won’t he won’t be back till March he’d be out for
Roughly two weeks if he doesn’t uh if he misses if he were to come back right away after the Blazers road trip um I mean we don’t have an update they’re not going to give us an update but I I would say that would that sounds like wishful
Thinking I would say they’re going to be really cautious with him because what’s the point uh the point is it’ be more fun for us to watch but they got to think about the long-term health of the franchise and they don’t care about winning and I
Think like when you when you when you factor in like they really want scoot to not be hurt and not have and not have to have you know surgical intervention or all those things or be out for an extended period of time or miss a valuable time in the summer to get right
Um you know that that’s like all the skill work you can do in the summer to get better that’s where players improve the most um at least in skill I think there’s some feel stuff you got to get by playing but in skill like he’s just they’re going to be super cautious with
Him I think there’s no surprise so um out for at least three more games dang it dang it uh it’s just it’s more fun when he plays okay speaking of fun I want to close the show on this yesterday’s program we played our a
Game we like to play or I like to play maybe you like it called you would love to see it where we talk about things you would love to see in a Blazers upcoming game one of them was one of the Blazers quartet of four wings just kind of put
It together on offense give him a little give him a little boost and tman Kamar gave the Blazers a little boost Taman Kamar f with 17 points and 10 words um he was he made two threes in the first half what I liked at what what I truly truly truly appreciate the most
About Tani’s game his first shot he smoked a fast break layup by himself pretty much just like jumped a little too early got himself in kind of that in between where it’s like oh I’m not close enough to lay it in I’m going to have to just like get
This over the rim I’m too you know he just he just screwed up his feet screwed up his jump and and smoked a wide open fast break layup bummer cuz he played such good defense to force the fast break to be to begin with and uh he just
Missed it and then he came down and had a drive on H hakz and it was a wild wild attempt I think he went back to his tried to get back to his right hand he’s left hand tried to get back to his his non-dominant hand and he just threw up a
Crazy offthe glass layup so his first two shots are like uh unguarded smoked layup and then like a totally chaotic Miss layup and he kept on shooting there has been games this year where Tani would have had those two kind of like blips and then he would have um it’s not
Like he wouldn’t have played hard cuz you all can play hard on defense and he’s and he’s an active rebounder but he might not have been as aggressive on offense but it did not deter him and he got himself going by hitting a rightwing three he did another one to at the close
Of the half uh in the second quarter he had a really nice drive on bam matab bio in the uh in the in the third quarter he excuse me early fourth quarter he had another nice drive where he where he spun and got backed got back to the
Middle of the paint little Up and Under move like I like him attacking the rim you know he’s not he does he’s not like a he doesn’t have a super tight handle and he’s not this like great passer on the move yet but he just needs to be a
Like at this point in the season they just need him to try try to find ways that he can be effective and if it’s the slashing he’s he’s long and he’s athletic um I think that might be end up being where he is if he becomes an effective offensive player I think
Driving Closeouts like he’s going to be they’re they’re going to Gap him that’s the term that that Lamar herd likes to use which means that they are just going to not guard him uh and it’s when he’s on the weak side they’re going to be in
The paint and just ignoring him on the far sides but when he catches it attack the close out attack the Gap eat up that space because it’s a long way to close out they’re still going to come towards you a little bit they’re not going to
Like totally ignore you on the catch and Tani’s ability to attack that close out to attack he’s going to have space to drive on catches and and to play off the catch quickly off the catch use his length use his athleticism to get into the paint
I like it I think that’s I think that’s where he probably ends up being the most effective um as an offensive player if he ever becomes a positive offensive player I think that’s the positive uh development for him he was he was solid in this game um he even then like you
Know he finished six of 12 from the floor 17 points 10 boards had three assists uh had five fouls in the second half and ended up fouling out late very late uh but like uh six of his 10 boards offin rebounds he missed a couple putbacks
That he could have made like he kind of he kind of left some points on the board right like and he and um and he still was darn good um this you know this is a small thing but 17- 10 is just such a productive and impressive game it’s one off his career
High um he’s he was imperfect he was particularly early a little chaotic he missed some shots in the rim he could make he took another hard one in the in the in the third quarter that that’s it’s just a kind of drives to the rim commits to shoot has to take a really
Hard one but like you want to see him be aggressive and he knocks down some threes he gets himself some easy buckets on putbacks he made some two really nice drives to finish in this game that’s the progress you want to see I said you
Would love to see it and frankly I love to see it I mean tumani I think probably has the most promise of the quartet of wings between him Chris Murray Jabari Walker and matis thel um matis made made a three in this game back back at it
Made three shots he’ come in over his last four games was one of 17 from three so um important for him just to see see the ball go in but I I kind of think he is what he is on offense Jabari Walker I think has a chance to be a long-term
Role player in the league but his his offense is just a little bit creakier than Tani’s and tumani is more versatile as a defensive player um I think he’s the most promising of the Wings just kind of any given day like sometimes it’s bar Walker I don’t think
There’s like a big gap between him and tumani by any means um but this was a really nice game and when you’re in this part of the Season you’re looking for nice things you know what to do hold on to your joy and then come back tomorrow because
We’ll do more of these programs we do them five days a week wherever you get podcasts and also on YouTube I appreciate you listening tell your friends about the podcast I’ll talk to you soon
If you were looking for some good news: The first half was good! The rest of it was less good. The Portland Trail Blazers loss to the Miami Heat, and Deandre Ayton to a hand injury. Another bummer. Toumani Camara played pretty well though. So that’s something. I guess? I don’t know.

LET'S GO HEAT!!
At the end of the season, the Blazers and Heat will end up with the same amount of โ23/โ24 championships (thatโs zero- you gotta spell things out for Heat fans). The Blazers will have two lottery picks this summer though
Thought blazers played pretty good with Ayton but miami was on a back to back gg, Jimmy a monster
Lol all these Miami fans are STILL mad salty they didn't get Dame for their trash. Enjoy the play in guys. ๐
F$%@ petty Croinin ass๐ #HeatCulture
Man o man, we sure are paying a hefty 25 million for a "lead guard" "near allstar" player who struggles "quite often"…………vs marginal teams…….on offense. He struggles on offense. He doesn't struggle on defense, he is putrid with consistency on that side of the floor. He struggles at the one thing he is supposed to validate his grotesque salary. Blazer management handing out candy bags once again…..
Blazers could've had Jaime and Niko. But Good luck taking another 10 years to be decent.
๐๐๐
So the Blazers got: celtics late round pick, a warriors late round pick, Bucks late round pick. Aytons contract, a broken brogdan, and Robert williams with one leg. ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ . Clownshoes Cronin strikes again. ๐คก ๐คก ๐คก. Let's go heat!
#1 draft Cody Williams
#2 Zach Edey
#3. Brazile
#4. Pember
Toumani Camara with 17-10. I keep saying it but Iโll do it again- I see him as an important piece of the next great Blazers team. I love his hustle, grit, feel for the game, and especially that little chip on his shoulder
We have assets! LoL #HeatCulture
Heat fans here flexing because their guys beat the fifth-worst team in the league ๐คฃ itโs hilarious and sad at the same time
Criami fans still salty ๐
