[Charania] Andrew Wiggins is dealing with and currently tending to a serious family matter. The Warriors are giving him the space and time he needs to handle it. The expectation is that Andrew Wiggins returns at some point this season.

I don’t care what the issue is honestly. Just give us a timetable when you will return. To me that is the most unacceptable part. Being unable to commit to a timeline is the only irritating part.

I hope it’s not too serious, but I don’t think I’m alone in saying we can’t go through this for a second consecutive year.

Life is hard and it throws you curve balls. If I have a family problem I’m expected to be back at my job within a week.

It’s not just that it’s untenable to pay someone for not working, it’s also that the job needs to be done.

I feel for Wiggs really, but that’s part of being a pro and getting all those millions of dollars. You gotta be ready to move if you get traded, and you have to be able to play through life events. I’m sorry I know it sucks, but that’s what’s expected of every other employee on earth.

Kudos to the org for giving him the space and time.

Behind the scenes the FO might be making some decision and conversations have been had but at least they are being supportive.

Hope his dad is ok if it’s the same thing as it was last year

  5. DubsFanAccount

Last time it turned out his dad was really sick right? That really is awful for him.

Regardless of what the actual situation is this is more or less looking the same as last year. There’s going to be a bunch of these non updates until he’s actually back with the team ready to play. In the meantime it’s Moody season.

  7. Call me crazy but I think it’s possible to be frustrated that the team is going through this again and still be understanding of the human element of all of this.

  8. Floppy_Jet1123

Good luck to him. But Moody’s taking that starting and closing spot as well as minutes.

  9. I know people are frustrated that wiggs is out but even when he does return now, hopefully whatever is going on doesn’t affect his play. Thank god this years team compared to last years is better constructed to play without him for the time being

Please don’t judge him. He can be dealing with an actual death. Funeral etc

It’s okay to be respectful of Wiggins but also acknowledge that this is weird AF and even weirder that it’s happening a second time. I don’t buy the “family emergency” emergency excuse one bit. This is something way more serious that they’re (successfully) keeping under wraps. KAT lost several family members to Covid, did not miss this much time. The timetables just do not add up compared to what they’re saying. You don’t miss three months of basketball for a father’s heart scare. WTF is Wiggins doing? Going to the hospital every day for three months?!!

This is a weak-ass excuse that is NOT holding up a second time. The truth will probably come out in the offseason.

  12. I think he needs to have some time off. Just imagine one of your family members is not doing too good, what’s good about it if the FO demand him to be with the team, Wiggins would not have performed well, like he be just thinking about his family and slacking off.

    Prayers up.

  13. Stomper8479

This pretty much tanks his trade value. Who would possibly want to pay all that money not knowing when or if he will play.

  14. Can we all agree that this is a PRIVATE MATTER? Let’s leave the man alone to face whatever it is with the power of our prayers backing him up.

  15. christ0fer

Sure I’m frustrated Wiggs is out, but at the end of the day family is more important than basketball.

  16. I think fans have a right to be upset given it’s again happening after it happened last season and it is again during a very important part of the season.

That being said life really *is* bigger than basketball and if the team is OK with what’s happening we fans don’t have much input.

  17. Raspberry_Anxious

No matter what the warriors have to trade him next season. He’s not reliable to play

  18. BeetLover1111

Shams thank you again for your click bait no new information report

Sad news to all the GMs in this sub that pay for his salary.

Some of yall in here need to chill.
Wiggs is dealing with a serious family matter that’s been going since last year along with still experiencing the loss of Deki.
It can’t be easy dealing with all of this while still expected to be playoff Wiggs.

As a fan I want too see him out there but as a human we gotta respect how he chooses to deal with this. I’d Rather he have the space to deal with this so he’s in a good space when he’s back.

  21. PorcelainElixir

Idk if this gets downvoted but this is just absurd to me. Does he still get paid? Hope the best for him but this is so obviously just a day job for him

  22. Nessmuk58

I think it’s insane. I understand these kinds of situations, and have even been there myself. But at some point, you either work or leave work. I did the latter once, otherwise I took a REASONABLE amount of time to deal with it, then got back to work.

And for a longtime NBA starter like Wiggs, it is much easier than it is for most of us. Wiggs has the $$$ to cover the very best professional care, so it’s not like he needs to take time off to be a caregiver as such.

    Play or retire, dude!

  23. NeedleGunMonkey

So many boot licking finance heroes showing up in the comments worrying for the GSW/NBA re whether an employee on leave is a financial liability.

I’m sure they’re fine – I’m sure the team and actual people who care about him are fine. Fans only care about W-L need to stop gambling.

  24. MisterGrimes

Damn. This team has absolutely gone through some things this year.

  25. 6mcdonoughs

Praying for Wiggins he is such a kind hearted person. I hope that there aren’t stupid fan theories that end up being WRONG during this time. Give him some grace.

but but redditors told me he’s being paid a ton of money and he should just suck it up!!!111
