Swapped out one great defender in Grimes for two ZERO defenders who are basically the same as Grimes on offense.

To be expected. Our bigs are our paint defense and OG is our perimeter/clamp defense. Missing both we our defense isn’t great

I’m more concerned with the minutes Josh Hart and Precious are logging (and Jalen obv). I think Big Hart’s Achilles doesn’t improve until he can rest. It’s a no win situation bc even the wins feels gnarly. Are these guys gonna have legs for a playoff run?

But part of it also is that thibs is unable to adjust based on personal.

Hartenstein isn’t 100, but he’s playing bc if he doesn’t, then we’re sentenced to death w Taj. Our starting frontline is out. Brunsons been banged up lately. We can’t catch a break. Also just got two new players who aren’t known for their defense and still adjusting to Thibs’ defensive style. We just need to get and stay healthy. But we are slipping quick in the standings

Knicks shouldn’t have traded Grimes and Quickly, Barrett wasn’t being used correctly; look at him on the Raptors now how all his numbers are up— he would have been better to coming off the bench since Randle and Brunson are ball dominant. I think they had good pieces and depth but Tibs wasn’t utilizing them correctly. Now they have no depth or defense and a ton of injuries that will only snowball to more injuries since our bench players have to accrue so many mins. Also, should have prioritized a big man last off season with Mitch’s history of injuries. OJ was a good pickup but he does have a history of injuries as well. The Randle injury was a freak accident but the rest could have been prevented. Either way, hoping we can make some kind of run end of season but will def be bumpy before we get there. Also, probably best to drop to 6th (avoid playin & Boston ) how Miami did it last year.

OG should be defensive player of the year. The defense was bad before he got here, great when he got here, and has been bad since he’s been hurt
Of course, it could still be tied to injuries, but defending wide-open shots is mostly luck…

We replaced IQ, Barrett and Grimes for Burks and Bojan. Both offense and defense are terrible as a result. It will be a different story if and when we’re healthy.
