Ime Udoka after loss to Suns, Sengun’s ejection
Obviously shots weren’t going what you think of the shots that were generated in the shot selection decent at best it wasn’t one of our better nights as far as guys getting open looks and making an extra pass um we had a few guys that had going
And a few guys that were struggling and um a lot of times especially the first quarter it felt like uh missed shots guys let that impact them instead of trying to find other way impact the game and so it’s not your night you you got to still play the game and stay engaged
And defend and rebound do all the other things until it comes back around as we’ve seen it happen several times this year how’ you feel what did Jaylen do or is it just shots were going in more than they had been for him a little bit of both he was being extra aggressive
Obviously um and then he made the shots that he’s missed quite frankly and so um love the aggression coming out of him attacking um still you know I think uh not just jayen but other guys we missed a few open guys especially when we’re attacking the basket that’s the main
Thing as we’ve seen last game against this team and you know for a half against New Orleans a half against OKC just that extra pass and movement and um you know some of those Miss shots at the basket over two three guys are as good as a turnover they’re going the other
Way so um guys got to go in some guys did but still got to try find ways to get others involved you see what you know from a pressure standpoint you guys sent pressure at the right times and the rotation was behind was also offensive rebounding how do you that that balance
Between you know sending pressure obviously Booker got going early so we want to go after him and when one of the two are out we were extra aggressive on the others I think we did a great job against them at home doing the same thing uh just got to
Clean up those boards and it’s you know it’s going to be some cross matches especially when we’re doubling with bigs and um sometimes those their guards out hustling us so U you know it’s a tough thing the rotations behind it were crisp like you said but you got to finish it
With the rebound and that’s putting bodies on body IES and um even at times of alprin getting kind of muscled by nerkish and so Big’s got to do your job that’s a finish the possession because we know when we get those stops we get down we were getting out running and
Having success so um you know they got two scores that make you do that you know go after them and uh just got to finish it with the board and I think that really hurt us tonight obviously it’s of course a team that Jock’s familiar with what did you think of his
Minutes tonight great his energy was great uh came in prepared to play we needed a spark at that time um you know some guys had fouls Alie obviously had the fouls but um some of our bench players Norm in normal rotation didn’t have a lot of juice tonight so it’s was
Good to have him and Reggie come in and kind of spark us and I think they did a good job and so um good minutes that he had Alie got the foul troubling fouled out and he came in and finished well so um happy for him obviously stays ready
Professional and um got this opportunity took advantage of it I mean Miss shots it seems like you know he makes quick move and misses it kind of hangs his head at times and so that’s what I’m saying you have to continue to play and um some tough foul
Calls that he guys a few touch fouls you I think he let it frustrate him a little bit and obviously you saw the kind of culminate with the the technicals getting tossed but a tough night for him offensively and that’s you know one of the guys I’m talking about it’s not your
Night every night you still can impact the game and um I think we had it to six you know three four times in the fourth quarter and went the other way and we that close and um my message to him is continue to play still play defense still rebound still
Do the things and we’ve all seen how it can flip you know in a quarter or so so got to stay focused as far as that shots that you had the whole game and specifically the first quarter were you okay with uh the shots elections or it
Was the case just not getting the shots or that was okay I think Jaylen was the main guy going you know one-on-one but he had it going so he was you know he’s feeling that and getting some decent looks there on some uh matchups that we liked um the other guys had pretty
Decent looks in general so um you know was happy with their looks that they got we obviously were five for 22 in that first quarter and um losing to 33 to 17 but bouncing back and winning every other quarter was a good sign and the shots started to fall at a higher clip
But um that’s my point you you can’t let one guy go off and still have to guard and do the little things especially when you’re not shooting it that well so um good job for getting back in it but got to come out with a better start just
Going back to Jaylen for a second he’s obviously had a rough go of it for a while as a shooter how much of breaking through a little bit tonight is about maintaining confidence or how valuable could confidence be if it comes from this night it’s both um you saw he had a
Stretch a few about a month ago where he went off for five games and you just want that to you know that mindset to continue to carry over get himself involved and then the final piece of that is when he is penetrating finding the guys and you know they’re not
Calling a lot of fouls for him at the rim and they do have some um length in there and so find the guys there but standing aggressive so um hopefully this you know springboard to something better going forward consistently but at the same time um as what we always say we
Want guys to be well-rounded and the guys that can create for other guys we need them to do that as well thanks thank you thank you
Ime Udoka talks to reporters after the Houston Rockets lost to the Phoenix Suns on 2/29/2024. Jalen Green led the Rockets with 34 points, Fred VanVleet added 21 and Jabari Smith Jr. grabbed 16 rebounds. Alperen Sengun was shut down by Jusuf Nurkic and both fouled out and was ejected from the game for yelling at the officials.

i heard a recent rumors about this team might getting JG4 next season.hope JG take a lesson to learn in everygame.he will have a chance to become Star for the other team.
Udoka does not like Alpi. Its obvious, didnt say sth about the ref. 2 wrong calls. Just defend ur soldier man. Alpi will go another team, he s gonna be a super star and nobody will remember u. When he gets the ball all other teammates get freezed, nobody comes to help or make cuts, you do not know coaching. You cant even be a high school coach in Turkiye.
Fucking play Amen, double double machine.
Tough calls? I hope they keep holding on jalen and sink with him. I m so done with this rockets. I prefer to watch alperen in any other good team even he doesnt starts. He will shine and earn any way.
just another brick night… van fleet and dillion gettn paid for laying bricks…. no shoot no cake… u can talk as much as u want udo…
udoka thinks he can transform this team in a 3 point making machine with this squad. His recent aim is to get 45 3 point attempts. UDOKA this team can't score 3 pointers consistently. Yea Green might have couple semi ok nights, Dillon is not a volume scorer so forget about him scoring 30 . There isn't an amazing 3 pointer in this team .I understand you want to find the next harden with these plays but this squad isn't it. I hope you come to your senses and utilize Alperen better , force the team members making cuts in offense and be in motion unlike right now. Currently , everyone plays for himself no one but Alpi is thinking about potential game plays. Late in season you cannot change the dynamic overnight and expect miracles!. Please come to your senses!
Like a broken record this fool, talks about the same bs everytime. Aggression, physicality, impact the game in other ways, blabla stfu already. There is literally 0 ball movement 0 cutting nothing working well in offense. Also great decision to let these bricklayers shoot 40 threes after the allstar break. It surely does wonders for us.
This is Silas basketball all over again.
