Greymond getting suspended you had so many things going on it was worse than the soap opera and but they found a way to as they use the O cliche to write the ship you know it was leaning over pretty far it was kind of like the Titanic

There for a while but fortunately they found a way to plug up the hole and uh they’ve salvaged things and they put themselves Back In Contention to become a playoff team which is the most important thing right now is to continue playing at this level uh I certainly

Hope that they can continue uh continue to do that uh you know here’s the thing I think they finally come to the realization that and I’m sure I’m sure that that Steve has had to talk to them okay you have have to understand that we’re trying to win games and your

If I’m Denver I mean Denver come on Denver could have eat lost games to the Warriors I mean they they the Warriors are right there stay I mean Steph has a horrible shooting game again they didn’t play well but they were still in the game they fought they had they looked

They were G to blow him out of the freaking Arena but to credit of the defending Champions they came back tied it at halftime had a double digit lead in the third quarter but the Warriors battle back and got it with time left in the game and it was three-point game I

Think they got it down to and you know and then they’re they’re ridiculous turnovers that they do all the time because I say they’re Their Own Worst Enemy if they can control that and continue to you know play some defense holding a team under 100 points in the

NBA today is pretty remarkable the way they’re scoring points these days so they’re showing signs of really good life I really like what I’m seeing I’ve been saying this now ever since you know before the All-Star break that these guys are a team to be reckoned with and

This is another example of a good win against a much improved and a much better Knicks basketball team playing at home so you know terrific win for them it really was and nice to see Steph because wow I when when’s the last time You’ seen stephh Curry go three games shoot

22% three for 11 one for 10 four for 16 now the beauty of it is he does that and they win two of those three games they win two of the three games with Steph Curry shooting 22% and having horrible games that shows you what a team is all

About someone else has to pick up the slack clay had a big game gotting 25 in one of those games this is what it takes to be a championship caliber team to be a team that’s going to be in contention and I really am pleased with what I’m

Had reporters broadcasters that you took issue with regarding what they said did you ever confront them how did you deal with media members who uh you did not find them producing favorable content uh incorrect content how do you how do you how did you handle that during your play

Well first of all it wasn’t anything like it is today okay we didn’t have the internet we didn’t have ESPN we didn’t have any of that stuff I know but I I I experienced for the first time when I was in college I always remember the one

Writer I remember his name still is was John Kitt that he wrote for Miami News and he he did an interview with me and he asked me one one question like this he said Rick you know when you’re playing and all because I was the leading scorer in the country right and

So Rick you know the crowd’s yelling shoot shoot hey said did you hear the crowd he says of course I hear the crowd I said but you know what when I get the ball I’m looking to try to score you know provided I don’t have a teammate in

A better position then he’s going to get the basketball that’s just the way I was taught how to play the game and so the headline was I he had me done Rick Barry I hear the crowd yell shoot so I shoot I said what the hell I said

Much other than Wiggins is a private person and it’s a private matter but what what I do want to talk about is who’s replaced Wiggins in the starting lineup and that’s Moses Moody uh I love this kid I’ve been waiting a long time for him to get his moment and now he’s

Getting it and he’s delivering not in this game he didn’t deliver he was Zero for five from three-point range he’s got to shoot the ball better from three-point range if he’s going to be in the game we needed him to be that should be a two for five game something of that

Nature zero for five isn’t going to cut it you know he had eight points and fortunately you know kaminga is the guy that’s really taking advant vage of the opportunity he’s been getting you know putting up 20 point games left and right doing a nice job I still think he needs

To go and rebound some more I mean rebounding is just a matter of effort and knowing where the ball is going he’s so dang athletic I mean just go release sometimes and go get some rebounds and and and start it here’s I get a rebound

Start it up the floor you don’t have to necessarily throw it to Chris Paul all the time or throw it to Steph or somebody let them take off up the floor take it bring it out then throw it up the floor to somebody you can do that as

A as a small forward that’s I think something that all forward should be doing don’t always count on always having to throw the ball to one guy in a situation because it becomes predictable the last thing you want to be as a basketball team is predictable you know like I know

Sometimes when I played listen Cyrus sometimes when I played against certain team I knew I could run back to a certain spot after offense and my defense my guy is GNA show up there that’s where he’s GNA be all the time he’s not gonna do anything freaking

Different I mean it’s that’s the worst thing possible and that’s the same way well I love it the way the Warriors playing all because I always said said ideally I would want I would want and it’s great you got a guy like the Joker I would want all five of my players able

To pass and create and see the floor and then you can have different people initiating the offense the defense can’t really get into a pattern about anything because they don’t know where somebody’s going to be it could be that’s why Denver’s tough a lot of times what they

Think like anything in life too much of something is no good I mean the analytics and the statistical things that exist today you know they’re nice it’s nice to know that and if you use them judiciously they can be beneficial to you at times but if you them totally

I think you’re out of your freaking mind I mean basically Steve Kerr and his assistants are watching that game and they have they know their players you got to get a feel for what’s going on who to put in you see if somebody’s struggling and you make your decisions

Based on what’s happening in front of you on the court not necessarily on the statistical aspect and so if a guy is doing a good job and you’re you’re defending well as a team and he’s a good part of it an essential part of it even though he’s not making his shots you

Don’t necessarily yank him out of the game now if you were trailing you needed some points you might have to do that you take him out of the game because he’s struggling offensively you got to get some offense and you put somebody else in and that’s the thing about the

Warriors that Steve has the luxury of what Al Adel had for us to go 10 Deep on this team easily because he’s got these players they all have the capability of playing well and situations like this to to his credit I’m sure it was because both of those guys were defensively

Doing a good job and keeping the Knicks under control and even though they then they had two other guys Steph of course finally you know had the big game after the three terrible shooting games and shoots 44% from threes which is more like the Steph Curry that we know and

Love and so and kaminga is playing well also so you you you have a find little balance it’s it’s the chemistry how is it working and this is what happened in the game tonight so you can justify leaving him you know in the game to play the defense while the other guys are

Taking care of the offense for you now had it been them trailing and doing stuff I’m pretty darn sure that he would have tried to get somebody else in there because you got to get some points on the board try to make up the deficit if you’re down double digits so right that

That was you know that was smart on his part to use these guys in the way that they were contributing and that’s the thing when your offense isn’t going well I always remember my my my coach in college who was my father-in-law Bruce hail and a great Pro Player on his own

Always said there there’s going to be eight or 10 games during the course of a long season like that where things don’t offensively you’re not going to be just go you’re going to have a tough time okay because offense is that roller coaster ride okay it’s up and down a l

Lot more so than defense which could be St you know static and should be as a team and so when the start’s not going don’t keep jacking up the tough shots go to the basket get fouled get to the free throw line go get an offensive rebound

Put it in get a fast break opportunity do something there but you got to still be contributing and so if your defense is good and you’re helping double teaming and stopping guys from getting the basket keeping your guy off the boards doing the good little things on

Plays uh 30 minutes for him tonight I love seeing him crack that 30 minute barrier was 12 of 19 from the field 25 points eight rebounds your opinion sir on these two players who are leading the way for the Golden State Warriors well you know I really like them both you

Know that I talked about kaming and saw a lot of good things in him when I saw him when he was a rookie in the summer league and saw some things that I because I hadn’t seen him at all before right and said well he has potential to

Be a really outstanding player if give him the opportunity it’s taken a long time for him to get there um but like I said you going only learn so much sitting and watching you got to play and you have to learn through the experience of being out there on the court does a

Lot of good things he still is a little bit out of control at times but he does attack the basket relentlessly and with a lot of uh enthusiasm and power I wish I could have done the things that he does going to the basket but you know a

Little some little subtle things that I think he could learn that would help make him even a better player and of course he’s just got to get a little more consistent with that three-point shot get himself up if he can get himself up to the 33 35 percentile on a

Regular basis in three-point range then he becomes a real asset for him and if I were him I wouldn’t be satisfied with that I think the goal is to try to go for 40 now that’s shooting but listen he’s got two guys that can work with him

On his shot and I think not too bad to have a couple of guys like clay and Steph on your team to be able to tell hey take a look at my shot I remember us to do that with Jeff M Jeff I’m having problem Jeff look at my shot I’m doing

Something I I don’t know what the hell it is and Jeff watched me and he saw something and it’s just little subtle things like Rick you’re actually the ball is coming off your fingertips as you’re coming down so I had a little movement in my shot and so I I couldn’t

Pick it up he picked it up for me so those are the kind of things things that great Shooters can do for their teammates and I’m sure he’s you know talking to Steph and Clay about that and they’re certainly working with him but yeah I like a lot of the things that he

Does again just a little bit out of control at times get a few more rebounds and work on that three-point shot and uh i’ love to be able to see him and show him how to go ahead and face up without doing everything off the dribble but

That’s something that’s kind of a lost art form it’s like the dinosaurs I want to get back to something you talked about when you’re saying playing uh you know with with them going up to up to up to uh Toronto uh to play against the the Raptors so

Real fast before we get into that too I just want to add the Warriors with their win tonight have leap frogged the Lakers they are now the nine seed in the Western Conference standings they’re they’re technically tied with the Lakers but they’re a game ahead in the loss

Column so that improves their win percentage they’re only two games behind the Kings who have been floundering lately only two and a half games behind the Mavericks and only three games behind the Suns and Pelicans so there’s still a long ways to go I believe 25

Games remaining don’t quote me on that I haven’t done the math um but Rick the the starters tonight even though this team has been solid terms of depth when you look at the box score and and you would it’s not surprising if you watch this game beginning to end every starter

Net rating wise was positive kaminga plus 19 Moody plus 23 Draymond Green plus 19 Steph plus 20 psky plus 17 not a single bench player was in the positive in that rating I personally wish that Gary Payne II got more minutes I’ve been a longtime advocate of Trace Jackson

Davis getting more minutes just because he had size I don’t think he’s a l liability out there your thoughts on the starters far outperforming the bench in tonight’s win well the starters are supposed to outperform the bench right that’s the way it’s supposed to work you know and but that’s the thing

About the Warriors there’s always been a factor remember when a lot of guys left when Durant left and other people I said well now the big thing is is what you got to get your bench because your bench has to be able to help you out when you
