LIVE: Pelicans vs. Pacers Pregame w/ Willie Green 3/1/2024

Everybody caught up on some sleep yes yeah yeah yeah get in there get in there yeah um now that you’ve had a chance to flip on the film any thoughts on adjustments you want to make perhaps get out to a faster start not work have to work from such a deficit from the

Jump I think that’s the key getting off to a better start and honestly taking away their easy baskets they had a ton of uh transition kind of kick ups and our sense of urgency has to be a bit better tonight getting Jose Alvarado back tonight how do you think he can help in

The bench battle especially when they have a spark like McConnell yeah I think that’d be a good matchup Jose guarding McConnell McConnell guarding him two feisty guys that play hard uh that drives their teams energy on both ends of the floor mcconell was great for them last game he really ignited the second

Unit so we have to do a better job keeping him under control just getting to play them and see what their style is and now playing them again it would seem that you’re not going to be taken not taken advantage of but you know used to

The speed and how they want to play as far as Pace goes and getting in to that transition offense as well say that say that again the the thing about the speed how they operate uh now that you played them one time would you seem more apt

And and adapting to what they want to do yeah yeah for sure that that’s that’s their game like they they’re going to play extremely fast make or Miss um they’re going to get the ball up quickly look for easy baskets and um you know we

Watched it on tape we talked about it as a group worked on it on the court but it’s really a matter of the transition from makes misses offensively to our defense and then the same thing for us you know we get stops or they make a shot getting the ball out quickly

Getting a rebound and getting up the floor fast to to get into our sets really uh the other when you guys played away in Indianapolis I’m sure there was not like ideal conditions for you guys getting in late and then having a game and you had everybody in the lineup have

You I guess seen a shift in mentality with your team of hey even though things aren’t ideal like there’s going to be a mentality of like we’re just going to try to play and and compete for sure for sure it’s been a major uh growth point you know point of emphasis

For us is that you know we we’ll have some guys banged up and our medical staff and performance staff is doing an amazing job of of navigating this season keeping our guys for the most part healthy and um it’s great to have our our full roster and that’s the mentality

Is that we we going to continue to show up and you know look at every game in front of us and give ourselves an opportunity to win it and we did that we had an opportunity um three-point game couple minutes left and they made some they made better plays down the stretch

What um what if anything struck you about how seak operates differently you know with the Pacers anytime you might have played against him before did you notice one at all is he mostly the same guy or does he operate differently based on the offense that they have it seems

Like he’s playing the same I mean they play they play Up Tempo in Toronto he would get the ball and try to score early um I think when you watch their team the difference now is that they’ll go to they’re going to him at the end of

Games um to close games out uh with him and Halle Burton and pick and roll the floor is space and he has a ton of room you know so biggest difference is he has more shooting around him than he probably did in in Toronto these last couple seasons one of the things Rick

Talked about before the game was your ability to force turnovers especially in Winds of late could you speak to how that is not just getting stops but forcing turnovers part of your philosophy yeah we we pride ourselves on being a team that get the Reflections and Steals and know Force teams to do

Things that they don’t want to do um the Pacers they did a good job of executing and so it’s an area for us that we we really pride ourselves on and you know tonight we’ll try to take a step in the right direction of getting the flections getting turnovers getting out an open

Floor you know we’re we’re watching teams now they’re trying to get back trying to take our transition opportunities away but we have to double down in that area okay thank you thank you
