OKC Thunder Full Media Availability | Post Game at San Antonio Spurs | February 29, 2024

Generated offense tonight seemed like they got good looks for most of the game and had a lot of energy um yeah they came out with a lot of confidence um uh a lot of guys stepped up hit big shots uh you know even their guys who

Are on the Scout for hitting shots H shots too so um you know credit to them uh for coming ready to play and um making shots we got to be better on the defensive end next time yeah you guys made that nice run to to retake the lead

Uh and then they kind of pushed it back out late anything you noticed during that time span other than shot making um I’d say shot making is a big part of it but uh what leads to that is us having to be better on the defensive end

Um you know making certain shots tougher on them uh you know taking certain things away we got to be better Mark was saying that the lesson from this game was the just the start that they got out to what what can you guys kind of take

Away from how they were able to start the game what you guys could do I mean it’s just another reminder that this is the NBA and um you know no team is in the NBA for no reason um no players in the NBA for no reason uh you know any

Team can beat you on any given night uh regardless of record or anything um and you know like I said they came out confident um part of that was them part of that was was us uh so we just got to be better next time around anybody else questions for Coach

Go ahead Mark you talked recently about the game often just coming down to uh who gets better shots did you feel like they got better looks than you ultimately um I thought we had some good ones obviously it wasn’t our best shooting night but I thought uh they

Were the aggressor in the game I thought they did a really good job uh from the jump of dictating the pace and physicality um you know and got themselves into a rhythm that it was hard to turn turn off on the defense end on the floor uh that was kind of an

Uncharacteristic start for us defensively and then credit them I thought thought we tried to turn it on defensively but they were really really sharp tonight they were the better team anything you noticed in the closing run other than just kind of them already being worked up in into a good lather

There at the end uh yeah I think that’s it you know I never want to take credit away from the opponent you know they played really really sharp from the jump tonight and they sustained it uh we took a lead you know in the fourth quarter

And they were able to fight back so they deserve a lot of credit for the win uh from our standpoint though you know I just thought the start you know is the lesson in that game on the defensive end of the floor I thought we eased into the

Game a little bit too much um and had a hard time like I said turning them off you were able to cause some disruption tonight with those 28 points off their turnovers from the defensive end what would you have liked to seen a little bit more um just to kind of slow them

Down if possible yeah I mean we were obviously disruptive um you know throughout it was more just the the sharpness of their Movement we seem to be behind a lot of plays uh from a pace standpoint and and you know I thought we got that corrected you know like I

Thought we tried to turn it on especially in the second half U and in the third quarter but you know like I said credit them they went and got that game

  1. Wemby and spurs fan here. Love watching Chet play and looking forward to how these two push each other to be the best players they can be💪🏻

  2. Shooting variance is real; best 3P% in the league Thunder shot poorly, and Spurs guys like Jones stepped up and made huge (uncharacteristic) shots, and that was the difference. Dort and Giddey very cold but that won't always be the case…
