Jamal Crawford: 76ers Should Shut Down Joel Embiid | NBA on TNT Pregame

Along Sixers are down right now 4- seven in the 11 game since Joel embiid has that torn miniscus as Stephanie said they’re going to do an update next week take a look at the East standings the Sixers are falling it’s all good this is with and without Joel embiid record with

I mean this is the reason why he was the front runner for MVP again without embiid the points are down 10 the opponent points are up six it’s a completely different roster and now the Sixers are facing a really tough question do we try and get them back

Do we try and make a run or do we rest a big man with a knee injury which is a really scary sentence to say out loud I’m shutting them down if if right now if the Sixers second third fourth best players were all at their best it still

Wouldn’t matter if mb’s healthy yes they look great but it still wasn’t like they were Bonafide Champions you have him for however many years I’m not playing that game he’s obviously the most dominant player in the game or one of the most dominant players and he’s had this

Injury before I think it just be irresponsible to force him back to say be ready for the playoffs when you when you miss that kind of time and you try to come back in a season when guys are getting ready for the playoffs that’s a different speed that’s a whole different

Energy behind it there’s a there there’s an injury ramp up then there’s like a conditioning ramp up and then there’s a hey we need you to get to that next level of playoff basketball and there’s just a ramp up of I haven’t been on the court working out with five with nine

Other people like just the spacing part of it hasn’t played with campaign hasn’t played with Buddy heel which those were great pickups what’s your take on it they’re sitting at fifth um in the East right now one game ahead of Miami out of the sixth spot I don’t think they hold

On to not being in the playin situation if that makes sense so I’m with Jamal I think from a roster standpoint you’re going to miss a year of finding out pieces around Joel embiid uh what could be successful but at the same time risking your future on maybe advancing I

Mean if you’re in the playin position you’re going to play Boston Milwaukee in the first or second round right so I don’t you know and I think just in terms of in shape you saw the way that he was coming off of not playing for a couple

Games and things like that like there’s rust in that right

Jamal Crawford and Candace Parker discuss why the Philadelphia 76ers should shut down Joel Embiid for the rest of the season on the NBA on TNT Pregame Show. Embiid is currently out with a knee injury.

  1. How you gonna say that after they literally just announced that he's about to be back at the end of March lmao

  2. I feel like yall forget Philadelphia is running out of time and the East is getting stronger at the top
There's rarely only 2 teams so if embid can come back mine as well be that third long short team

  3. They aren't good enough to win it this year, he gets hurt almost every season, don't screw up next year for a very low chance this playoffs. Then work the offseason to get a better roster.

  4. They should. Best to have him healthy for next season and not play risky with that knee especially with his weight. The odds may be lower but they are better off having him play next year and stay healthy long term rather than force him to play through the injury. Joel is that franchise right now and he shouldn’t be put in danger to lose in the playoffs

  5. This is a wild take to have when you have literally no connection or a inside information on embiid or his injury. This shows how useless being one of these analyst is, just saying nonsense

  6. It just hit me that PHI is the east LAC. Good shot every year, but health from the best player is a problem. Additionally, the 2nd best player doesn't step up when the best player is healthy.

I'm a Clippers fan so i would just rest him. It's worked out for LAC. PHI is way younger anyway.

  7. Almost 10 years of this guy with the reckless flopping routine then constantly injured come playoffs. Beyond regular season showboating, this extremely talented dude is a BUST.

I think there’s a reason Morey has been stockpiling picks and Nurse has been letting Tobias sabotage them into lowkey continuing The Process 🔁. If they have any brains at all, they’re fed up with Mr. Glass’ postseason unavailability / underperformance and going to blow this team up and rebuild around Maxey.

It’s past time to face reality: Embiid is too fragile to be a #1 but can piggyback or contribute off the bench with the Sixers or somebody. Kudos to Jamal for at least speaking in short-term reality instead of keeping up the great comeback ruse the media is dishing out, yet again.

  8. Even with embid the 76ers getting a second round exit. Just sit him for the rest of the season

  9. even if he does come back, what difference will he make? we all know a hobbled embiid won't make a difference anyways

  10. naw f the wins, season, and future bro they need to "trust the process" like they always done. 76ers i mean, garbage franchise

  11. sixers know damn well it´s a matter of time til Embiid leaves the sixers ,they better get the max from him now while they can …he will always be injured . play now and rehab next season til all star break lol

  12. I get the shutdown option, but I'll never understand, "you'll play a tough team in the playoffs." Even if you don't play them first round, you'll play someone tough if you advance. This whole easy way to the finals doesn't exist.

  13. The stuff he was doing while being injured is insane, but its more insane to keep playing on a messed up knee. The pain can become unbearable when it comes to the knees.

  14. shut it down, sucks that he had this injury if kuminga didnt fall on him they probably wouldve been 2nd seed. time to get rid of tobias and get someone who can play alongside maxey and embiid

  15. Not trying to be mean but i say just play him if hes healthy, you never know what can happen and teams looking to next year never really works out. With his injury history you dont know when is going to be career ending honestly. Id take the chance.

  16. I wouldn’t bring him why take risk of him getting hurt again so they should bring him back next season why take that chance and he’s not going to be in shape to play sixers need to made a decision if he comes back
