Not the end of the world if we don’t get the Raptors draft pick this year. IIRC, next year’s draft, the 2025 draft class is a bit more stacked with talent compared to 2024 draft class.

Other than Wemby, the will we/wont we of the Raptors pick might be the second most interesting part of the rest of the season for Spurs fans lol I understand people who don’t really care if we get it this year, and it’s definitely not a disaster if we don’t but I would be pretty disappointed if we miss out on it by one place this year and then next year they make the play-offs (or really tank and it never ends up conveying which would be obviously the worst scenario) I know this coming draft is weak, but I would rather pick at seven or eight this year than 15 or 16 next

I feel like if it doesn’t convey this year it probably won’t convey in 2025 either since I assume Toronto goes full rebuild mode next season. I’ve honestly just been thinking of it the same as the Charlotte pick, maybe with a tad bit more hope

Have the Raptors been actively tanking to try and get the pick to convey?
I read somewhere that Masai said he wanted the pick to convey this year because of the weak draft, but the trading of their stars both before the trade deadline kinda made it seem like they wanted to kick a tank into overdrive to preserve the pick.

Everyone says the next draft class is not that good but I believe there is going to be at least some good players franchise players.
