Right but first we got a look at tonight’s game Spurs Thunder your spurs comeing into tonight’s game 11 and 48 the Thunder are 41- 17 yeah Spurs got themselves a handful tonight this will be the first game of a two game home for the Spurs and they’re coming off the

Roader road trip and uh didn’t end well Spurs picked up the loss versus Minnesota 114 to 105 uh wmy had 17 points and 13 rebounds Malachi had 12 points and Trey Jones had 11 points and six assists and uh yeah hopefully the Spurs can uh erase their five game

Losing skid tonight and get things on the winning track uh and begins out at the frost Center Jersey watch Spurs will be in their Association Edition Jersey basically the white jerseys as always we like to look at the opposition first before we get into the Spurs so here’s

Your quick game preview Thunder are hot they they’re hot they’re riding a six game winning streak overall and the last two games on the road they won them both so they’re they’re they’re Motoring right now the Thunder are on a rhythm right now Spurs you know catching them I

Guess at the wrong time for them hopefully the Spurs can upend OKC’s winning streak tonight at the frost Center so Spurs gota play a complete game versus uh one of the best in the west OKC now as always the Spurs got to keep an eye on that three line the

Thunder have recorded six straight games with a higher three-point percentage versus their opposition so they’re knocking down shots they’re being efficient from the three line they’re making them count we’ve seen on the last few games sometimes the Spurs uh you know that’s kind of like the difference

Between the win and the loss there is the opposition connecting on threes so Spurs go to watch that three line for OKC they’re coming in hot also keep an eye on the uh scoreboard as always because it’s going to be key especially tonight on the road the Thunder are 13

And one when they’re leading after the third period so they’re hanging on to that lead at the end of three they’re likely not going to let it go come the final frame so keep an eye on that scoreboard hopefully the Spurs are up at the end of three now shift to the Spurs

Now so Spurs have lost five in a row so there’s that but they have lost their previous four straight games out at the frost so hopefully home can be kind to the Spurs tonight which is the thunder so yeah Spurs are riding a four game home losing skid recent history yeah against the

And what was the Austin feedback yeah um great question I I think the biggest takeaway is that there is a real appetite in Austin for NBA basketball and we are happy to be that team for this market and so it’s something that we’ve talked about for decades and the fact that we’re putting

Intentionality behind it and really seeing people come out in droves and support our support our game support our players support our events in and around the community and even be a part of our community AC activations is just a Real Testament to sort of our brand being

Able to transcend San Antonio and go as as you said as North as Austin and South to Mexico and everything in between it’s clear that um we are we are becoming Austin’s NBA team absolutely U my interaction with Spurs fans that went to last year’s game that were you know fans

From San Antonio that made the track to Austin uh for the most part all of them said wow that was kind of the reaction like whoa you know that was an experience that was fun and their ability to not only just take in the games we get into later but seeing some

Of the community events that the uh the SSN put on and again we’ll get into that later uh what do you think is the biggest lesson to learn aside from you know bargaining with a mother nature to stop raining for the day you know I mean what do you think is the biggest

Takeaway that you can now apply to to this week or this upcoming weeks uh in March 10th uh games out in Austin yeah I think I think one of the big takeaways is that that um we can do things that are appealing to everyone right and so

We have the games obviously and a lot of people go to those we sold out both last year but even impacting um the community outside of the games we’re dedicating our third renovated Court in Austin on Sunday March 10th um we’re giving away free coffee via Joe’s coffee around

Around Austin for the entire week just really meeting fans where they are so our biggest takeaway is that um wherever our brand shows up our fans are are there to support us and that’s a that’s a really good feeling for our team to sort of not necessarily making an entry

Into Austin but really getting intentional and it’s really nice to see that our our fans are are showing up yeah and if numbers don’t lie well then here is a number and quickly shout out to Alexis who sent me this little tidbit here 59% of fans uh who went to last

Season’s Austin games um have kids so that s of the whole multi-generational fandom that could be or is starting out in Austin how big is that uh for the uh for the Spurs to actually solidify itself more so than what it is right now as Austin’s NBA

Team no it’s huge first of all as you know our team we have the youngest team in the NBA and and it’s also we’re also being intentional about growing that next generation of fans as you know last year we celebrated our 50th Anniversary so our organization is strategically

Trying to figure out what the next 50 years looks like and the best way for us to get there is to make sure we’re tapping into the youth and in order to do that we have to do things that are conducive to what appeals to them and we

Have all kinds of events that are appealing to the youth obviously the games but some other sort of three onree court experiences some court takeovers and Renovations so um we’re really we’re really being intentional about making sure that we’re we’re um doing things that appeal to our the next generation of fans

Uh one thing you mentioned about is the regional footprint between San Antonio Austin Mexico and all places in between you’re seeing it this season even with the g-league team playing games in Corpus Laredo that has been a big push in recent years for the Spurs yeah as of

Today how is that going how is the expansion of the Spurs footprint not just in Austin but just in that whole region coming along I would say well um look we’re we’re uniquely positioned our leadership likes to say culturally geographically and economically and so we’re real in a

Really unique position as an NBA team to really capitalize on our on our location and proximity to some really major metropolitan areas and to some really loyal and fervent fan bases and so the more we can do to sort of speak to them the more we can have them included as

Part of our Spurs family and I’d say it’s going well our games in Mexico last year were’re amazing we obviously sold out the Alamo doome we sold out the Moody Center games and so it’s clear everywhere we go to meet our fans where they are they’re really appreciating

That and so the more we can do to make sure that no matter where you live no matter what ZIP code you’re in if you identify as a Spurs fan or even a basketball fan um we welcome you into our family I think this will bring a

Smile to your face right now so um first of all I am so happy that Corpus Christie got themselves a g G League game with the Austin Spurs making the trck of there I think Corpus definitely deserved that I have a lot of friends in

Corpus a lot of people I know in Corpus that were you know say hey what about us what about us we bleed black and silver too what about else and boom done and done g-league Austin SPS game heading there soon but even better um so I don’t

Know if you know this but there is a loss Hollywood actor born and raised in Corpus Christie he’s been on shows such as Modern Family to bro girls his name is Nathan Ray Clark he is from Corpus he’s been on lockdown Spurs before and when he found out that the there’s going

To be an Austin Spurs game in Corpus he was just elated so much in fact he asked me that the next time I go to a Spurs game out of the frost to get him a custom Spurs jersey and mail it to him he’s rocking it now at uh in Los Angeles

And he’s worn it in enemy territory out with the Clippers and Lakers gam when you hear stuff like that what does that make you think about just how big Spurs fandom is not just in the region but Nationwide yeah not even n just Nationwide right we’re we’re a global

Brand and it goes back to our our years and in the early pop years and sort of being relevant internationally by selecting players like M job and even Tim and we’ve had lineage of of Tony Parker and so we’ve had this sort of long lineage of of international

Athletes and really been able to speak globally with our brand and tap into different parts of the world and again make sure that those different parts of the world feel like they’re a part of the Spurs family no matter where they reside and so that just I mean we love

Hearing that we have fans everywhere and we want to make that they’re recognized and they’re appreciated because without them we we wouldn’t be who we are absolutely yeah you you see the you see Victor you know was like the reconnection with the French fans from

Tony and you know Boris and n D Colo I mean the list goes on and on and you’re seeing that brand get bigger but with the intention of just making the region area you know uh here in Texas stronger it looks like it’s going that way um you

Know for what you can tell us you know what you’re allowed to and everything you know when yall went out to Corpus got themselves a g League game obviously Laredo got multiple games do y’all foresee any other those type of Austin Spurs games maybe in surrounding

Counties such as I’m just top of my head you know the Bernie or you know El Paso stuff like that how does that work yeah no so I I mean first of all we’re open to it right we we are going to go where our fans where our

Fans are and and and so the first requirement right is do they have an NBA or g-league specific Arena so that’s sort of the Baseline is do they have a venue that’s suitable to accommodate our needs and then from there it’s really a negotiation with obviously the venue the

MBA some say so in it uh we play in be County for the for the Spurs our G League team plays in Cedar Park And so there’s some negotiation to do about moving home games in and around this the state of Texas and then we have to be conscious of the different exclusivities

That the Dallas M may have or the Houston Rockets may have so it’s the balance of a lot of different things but I would say everything is on the table and as we continue to grow our Market we’re open to to all ideas hey I want to talk about grammar

International uh borders and becoming Mexico’s NBA team yeah no it’s been a focus of us for a while now it’s also a focus of the NBA they have a g-league team that plays out of Mexico that’s right the capana is right yeah exactly and so working with the NBA to make sure

That when we do go to Mexico we’re maximizing those opportunities um as you mentioned like we have a very Hispanic population in San Antonio and if you look at the demographics of our country that’s the way we’re moving um Multicultural demographic and so we really see ourselves as sort of the tip

Of the spear in terms of country is going and so the more we can figure out ways to relate to different cultures and make sure that we’re embracing uh the people that support us uh the better we’ll be as an organization and we’re really excited to do to do that to do

Are still doing a fan Fest before our game on Sunday and so people should try to come to that we’re doing it’s going to be right right outside the Moody Center and before you get to the game you can experience a bunch of live vendors or coyote a DJ Etc yeah we’re

Also in conjunction with South by doing a big Community concert and that’s on Thursday the 14th and so South by yearly puts on this big concert and it’s really one of the few events at southp where you don’t need to have a wristband and so it’s really an invitation to the

Community to come and be a part of not only southp but the Spurs putting our sort of authentic touch on that concert and we’re super excited to not only sort of entertain our fans and and perspective fans but also give back we’re we’re we’re raising we’re hoping

To raise a bunch of money for our impact initiatives in and around Austin and so it’s a good way to sort of feel good about all the things that we have going on here in Austin absolutely and um let me tell you everybody 15 15 fan engagement events that you could take

Part in out in Austin when Spurs weeks begins on March 10th I mean from the concerts that you’re mentioning the the giveaways uh player appearances um the list goes on and on you know and I think it begins with the the ladybird Lake event the you
