Jayson Tatum on Boston Fans BOOING Kyrie Irving | Celtics vs Mavericks Postgame interview

Jayson Tatum on Boston Fans BOOING Kyrie Irving | Celtics vs Mavericks Postgame interview

Jason seemed like in the past maybe in these like 10 12o games you um you might have to search for your offense a little bit to to kind of pick up the scoring um but now it seems like you can just kind of wait feel out the game someone else

Is going to handle it until maybe you get going or or maybe it’s not even you maybe somebody else gets going is that is that kind of like if if you guys kind of progressed to just waiting waiting around until the opportunity presents to like strike yeah I think like you say good

Way to put it we’ve progressed of understanding each night is going to look different uh if it calls for me right to come down the way they guarding us uh you know if they’re switching and you know KP cuts to the basket or if he

Pops back off a screen or if J maybe has a mismatch or um we come down and transition and Al um seeks out the mismatch at the at the Block like if it calls for me to you know essentially pass the ball eight possessions in a row

Because that’s the right read uh then you have to trust that that’s what is going to help us win the game and uh you know some a lot of nights is different where maybe I might have it going in the first quarter and um move out the way in

A sense in the second and third or or you know night like tonight where other guys had it going early and you know maybe that third quarter is where I find my opportunities um you know every night just going to look different as how good

Of a team we have seems like it’s like a a calmness a patience you know just like I said just kind of you guys can kind of wait and see when the opportunity strikes how did you guys get to this point cuz it wasn’t always like this

Yeah I think I think uh you know really this year having those conversations watching film understanding that I always said we got a really really good team we got guys every possession you know two three there’s two or three of us that you know feel like and realize

That we have the advantage we have the mismatch but you know only one person can shoot it right so we have to be okay with um you know if I feel like I got the big on me but KP as a small like I got to be okay with trusting to throw it

You know to him in the post and you know we take advantage of that then they change how they guard us and then I could find different ways to attack um and you know we’re winning so that makes things a lot easier JT over here um beginning of the game you didn’t score

Anything and Luca’s going off and you watch like how you run the team versus luuka how he kind of has to do like everything for that team how did I guess way this game finish help you appreciate why you’ve made kind of the role sacrifice that you’ve made to add to

Winning yeah uh and I think it’s like you said the we all have to sacrifice something and I think um just understanding the this window that we have with this this team is very unique that um you know our team doesn’t call for me to dominate the

Ball um and you know necessarily have to make every single play and that’s not like it’s not a bad thing um just the dynamic of our team doesn’t necessarily call for that uh so in a in a sense it kind of makes life easier at times right you know we’ve won

10 games in a row there nothing to really complain about uh you know we’re we’re on the right track and these last few games Joe’s flipped the sub pattern for you and Jaylen you’re playing a lot more minutes early on kind of seems like a lot of just experiment playoff test

Stuff like what has all this done for you to help get ready for the playoffs I think Joe he’s talked a lot of talked to us a lot recently about being open-minded whether it’s subpatterns whether it’s defensive schemes that we run uh whether it’s play calls that he’s

Going to throw out to us uh he just talked to us about being open-minded um you know we’re trying things out to see you know what we can do in the playoffs uh so you know every night looks a little bit different it’s a couple games in a row

Now that you guys have a double digit lead it becomes like a two or three-point lead and then it’s almost like the team responds to that feeling of like we’re almost going to blow the lead and then you blow out the opponent um do you think there’s something some

Sort of switch that flips or some sort of mentality of like we’re going to put our foot on the gas or is it just kind of a coincidence that this pattern has emerged over the last few games uh I don’t know I think you know we’re really

Good we we we get off to good starts we get off to get a lead teams respond uh rightfully so right best basketball players in the world and then we re call a timeout and we go to halftime and we regroup um and we talk about the things

That we got to do better and we go out there and execute uh you know we’re not going to blow every team out in the first half uh you know game does just doesn’t work like that and do you feel like there’s a Feeling of almost like more unwavering confidence in this team

That you don’t get frazzled when those teams go on a run which is as you said you know to be expected yeah just a game of basketball um they’re going to make shots they’re going to go on runs uh it’s just all about how you respond on a given

Night Jason can I get your thoughts on the crowd booing Kyrie just I know stars get booed but Boston seems to have a little extra energy for Kyrie yeah uh uh feel like it just kind of been like that ever since he left uh obviously you know we all know what

Happened but that was that was a while ago couple years right guys I have a great relationship with him the guys few of us that were still here that play with him have a great relationship with him um you we’ve we’ve all moved on from it but you know you understand that fans

Are passionate and things like that uh so I guess that is to be expected but you know none of the players have any animosity towards Kai or anything like that appreciate it thanks

BOSTON — After the Celtics 138-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks, Jayson Tatum, who scored 32 points, including five 3-pointers, commented on Boston fans continuing to boo Kyrie Irving: “I feel like it’s just kind of been like that ever since he left… we all know what happened, but that was a while ago. You understand that fans are passionate and things like that. So I guess that is to be expected but, you know, none of the players have any animosity towards Kyrie or anything like that.”

  1. Basketball is a poorly designed team sport this is evidenced by phrases like " we have to sacrifice."
A better designed team sports does not need different positions to "sacrifice," because each position has an important role play.
For example, if you compare it to the human body, if your hear has to "sacrifice" its resources so that your brain can "get some," then you would be probably be in an ICU or urgent care center.
    lol

  2. Funny how tatum knows why Celtic fans boo kyrie and Brown acts like he thinks its simply cuz kyrie is a star.hmmmmm very strange

  3. i´m so happy Celtics have Porz and White … JB can score in the first quarter like he always does while Tatum takes his time to find his groove …The last years he would just force it and brick early in the game

  4. I was that guy who had all the vitriol in the world for Kyrie when it all went down. And then it went up to 11 when he stomped on lucky.

But he hasn't won a game in Boston since then. He's come out and admitted he didn't handle it right. He's talked up his former teammates. I'm over it. Boo if you want, but i got none of that left in me for him.

  5. Hes playing great with in the system. He could average 30+easily. He has a great cast of stars on this ride with him. Just win the chip n finals MVP. That will shut everyone up. I loved the last few games team wise😂. Keep it up guys. Maybe my ole bones will get to see at least one last Chip. 😊

  6. at some point the globe or herald or nbc or somebody is going to hire sports reporters that know one thing about basketball and will ask an intelligent question about Xs and Os instead of the bullshit drama bullshit that constantly oozes out of their mouths

  7. Kyrie deserves all of those boos…he brought in some sage and did tried to do some Voodoo crap on the court…he also stumped on poor Luckey

  8. Facts. I think that's the one he rather have. But even tonight if you watch you clearly ser his mvp value. He took over that game and the team fed off his leadership

  9. Maybe the team can push the mvp narrative like they did for smart to dpoy. Guess what means more to legacy than a mvp? A championship!

  10. Jaylen already said "boo every star that comes in this arena " so hey you wanna play the villan kryie ? Embrace it . I will say hes seemed to calm down since he got to dallas, for a while it was always something with kryie, bashing boston, bashing nba, hes an artist , blah blah blah.

  11. Leaving JT, JB, KP, Jrue, Derrick, Al, Pritchard, or Hauser open so you can double team someone else doesn't sound like a winning strategy.

  12. The Addition of Holiday and the Unicorn is sickening, nobody in the East close and they have owned the West, Finals Bound

  13. Celtics fans stupid they should be chanting thank you. Him leaving free up cap space to keep both Tatum and Brown and more importantly surround them with players
