Seems like he’s settling in. Playing looser.
It’s gotta be awkward coming in halfway through the season but I think Monte’s done everything he can to show that he’s going to be dependable on both ends. I’m not sure Finchy knows what he wants to do as far as distributing minutes between Mike, NAW and Morris but he’s got time to iron that out.
I really worry about NAW’s minutes being sacrificed because I think he does so much for us as a quality perimeter defender, he’s improving as a slasher and he hits some timely threes even if he isn’t Kyle Korver from deep. Probably going to depend on matchups.
Please rest Mike more with Monte comin into his own more, and keep NAW in the rotation. We need Mike fresh for the playoffs
He’s definitely in better shape than he was coming here out of his injury. It looks like he’s lost 10+lbs. He can still improve on his shot, getting back to his normal averages. His defense is better than I thought it would be. His passing is so crisp, he makes the right simple play, like the assists to NAW for a corner 3. You have to respect that 15 assists/turnover rate.
I’ve been really surprised by Morris’ defense since joining the team.
He has some occasional communication breakdowns (duh, he just got here), but his ability to just sit down and defend is much better than I thought. I was under the impression he was a slight liability, but I actually have found him to be stout. He also seems bigger than I thought he’d be, which might come in handy against teams with a bit more size (Mike’s been getting bullied in the post and on the boards lately).
