FIRST THINGS FIRST | Wemby will redefine the NBA! – Chris Broussard claims Wembanyama will win ROY

Wins for the Spurs wow wins the parade victories over the Pacers and the Thunder digging your hole when wh owns the league almost 60 points in the last two games last eight games Brew he’s been even better averaging 24 points 11 rebounds five assists five blocks a game

Two Steals and shooting 42% from three here was a wise man’s prediction from May of last year take a listen if he’s Kevin Durant if he’s a Keem elijahwan he has not met expectations well that’s what that’s what the expectations his expectations are to have a career like

LeBron Jordan Duncan Shaq or Kareem that’s what the expectations are then they’re too high okay there I am RW do you feel Vindicated what are we doing idiot what are we doing answer your question mean all right first of all let me say this I

And Nick knows this I was taken out of context then we just play I what I said well cuz I got something for the haters what I said was that because the expectations are so high all right they’re saying he’s the best Prospect in American team sports history right

That’s what theying they didn’t even say team sports they said the best Prospect in American Sports history take that tiger and Serena the whole thing yeah so I said is if that’s true it’s not like I was in France scouting wommy all right but if that’s true then being Durant or

Elijah Juan or any of those guys Bel below the you know LeBron and Jordan and Duncan is a disappointment but since people took it out of context and they said I was saying oh he’s got to be one of those guys that you know then you know what

Yeah I’m going to take I I’ll take it the way you said it the way you mis interpreted me we’ll we’ll go with that and guess what what I might have underestimated with I mean this Nick this is like something we have not seen this must be what it felt

Like to watch Will Chamberlain oh I mean gosh no I’m serious Troy pull up Wilt Chamberlain’s rookie numbers wi Chamberlain was playing 46 minutes a game as a rookie all right give wiy 46 that’s what the first hand it I one of the positive things is he has not shown

Any like he can’t stay healthy he not shown any of that I just heard from Troy what go ahead 37 and 27 yeah again 46 minutes a night7 I did I knew you were coming like this we scored eight tens of a point per minute oh go give me a break

Scoring 7.3 points per minut 73 but give miss me with the anonio Spurs Greg papovich you did not load manage Jim Duncan when he was young David Robinson do not load manage this dude I get it if the ankles bothering him now but when this guy is fully healthy if he’s not

Now you got to let this boy play bro hold on nck have you seen anything like this bro let me ask you this C can you tell me the full list of guys taller than 7’3 that didn’t deal with major injuries throughout their career I can

They’re in one there no names so that’s why the full list of 7 fo3 guys that could do what he’s doing nutmegging guys behind the back between the legs guarding out aimet like this which is why they are being so cautious because human being cous with they invented Lo

Man human beings when they are this tall are have natural issues and certainly every single NBA player ever 74 or bigger has dealt with serious health issues so they are trying to be careful going to never going to be able to go more than 31 32 minutes I’m saying that

They are right now being cautious in a smart way and the reason I don’t I’m not going to kill them for their record is because the other thing I think they’re doing that is smart that I didn’t think was smart at the beginning but now I’m giving him credit for is they’re they’re

It’s seemingly let letting him experiment yeah letting him try different things and seeing what he’s most comfortable with because when you if you watch a full Spurs game it does feel like man every every time they give him the ball close to the basket he just

Scores I wonder why they don’t do it more but I think it’s because they are using this year as not a red shirt year but a trial year like a and so and I think that’s smart so I I still would take the under on aluan really yes

Really I will take the under on Alan cuz other than in let’s throw injury out let’s say he stays healthy explain because elijan is the 11th greatest player of all time so I will take the under on that I mean I mean that’s all that’s all I’ll just take the under on

Who was better at how can someone catch him well I’ll give you the three best candidates of different generations of guys playing right now and what it would mean not for them to catch LeBron just for them to get to 40,000 cuz they keep in mind LeBron’s still going so this is

Each guy different generations and I’ll show you why I picked them in a moment but how far they are away but what does that actually mean so for Durant what does Durant have to do if he averaged 30 a game for the rest of his career he

Would have to play six years longer than LeBron plays not six six more years to get to 40 but then he also has to catch everywhere else LeBron went and right now he and LeBron score the same amount okay what about Luca let’s give Luca 32

And2 points per game for the rest of his career he’d have to play 70 a year he’s only done that once ever right and play 13 more okay what about wimy cuz the 13 more is not like no completely out of the question but what about wimy let’s

Give wimy sorry if it’s a little hard to read 35 again okay okay he just have to do it for 16 straight years can he do it no it’s not possible because LeBron started younger than everyone and is now going older than everyone and played more minutes than people do now so it’s

Just not a realistic goal it’s when we talked about this before and I screwed up Walter matthews’s name or maybe I see it again where it’s Walter Johnson and Christy matthewson I’ve done it twice but if you look at some of those guys it’s like oh he had 400 complete games

And it’s like oh okay well that’s like and so it’s just these are I don’t think we’ll Brew Wilt held the scoring record for 27 years Kareem then held it for 39 years like the idea that someone’s going to break this In Our Lifetime history says they won’t yeah the average length is

Three decades that they hold those numbers are are very compelling um and and with the minutes that guys are playing wi’s playing 28 minutes a night right and I don’t blame him I’m blaming the Spurs I I just I like to see him play more but I’ll 28 minutes a 28.7

Minutes I I pulled LeBron’s durability when he was 20 he played 42 minutes night yeah and how many games uh do you have games right that’s the thing they’re not like whether it’s I mean some of it’s the team some of it’s a player they’re not playing as much which

Is huge for this type of thing I would if guys would play the minutes that LeBron play like if they just start playing more like they used to here’s two things that make me wonder I don’t think it’s as unbreakable as wils 100 but I do like I said your

Numers wilts 100 is way more breakable we’ve seen guys 81 obviously couple guys 70 this year if if the three the the prominence of the three-point shot makes me wonder cuz guys are scoring more now individually because their shootings half their shots are worth three Steph’s taking 12 threes a game Lucas’s taking

10 threes a game that’s probably unless there’s a rule change it’s only going to increase so if if 50

  1. I think chet is still in the roy discussion but what has to 100% happen is wemby getting DPOY wemby is by far the best defender 1.blk/g 1.stocks/g 1.stl (among pf/C) 2. In defensive rating altough most spurs are trash at defense. Wemby is 2nd in def. Rating while noone other spurs player is in top 40 and rudy gobert has multiple in top 20 and kat at 3. Place. Wemby dpoy

  2. This argument is so boring. So no matter what Wemby does there’s an inevitable career ending injury. Keep repeating that. Lame analysis. Wemby’s rookie year > Lebrons rookie year

  3. Pull up the Per 36 numbers ok Wilt's rookie year and Wemby's. It's a lot closer than you think.

  4. I love it when people talk about Wilt's 100 point game and how breakable the record is because 1 person has scored 81 and people have scored 70 this season. To put this into perspective, that's like saying someone who scored 31 points ALMOST got 50 or a guy who scored 0 points came close to getting 30.

  5. I think Pop is seeing that Wemby is not playing correctly and because of that he could injure himself.

Like there just was this pic showing Pop himself showing how to do post ups.

  6. it's a different era…. and he is todays W. Chamberlain….. Todays average NBA player is on the cusp of stardom in yesteryears game, some stars would be just great role players, and a number of yesterdays superstars would be "just" stars in today's game with the supporting players of the modern NBA surrounding them. So the numbers won't be like Chamaberlains but that is who he is in todays game….

  7. *Victor Wembanyama is the greatest Rookie the world has ever seen, in ANY sport*. He is more exciting to watch than ANY of the current NBA MVP candidates, simply because he is putting up numbers and stats that nobody, including Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and Michael Jordan have done. He should win both ROTY and DPOY, which has never been accomplished by any rookie ever. Victor Wembanyama is a Future MVP and DPOY winner for several seasons, including back to back winner of these two awards. Only three NBA players have ever won the MVP and DPOY award in the same year. Victor Wembanyama will certainly join these legends, and even surpass them:

    Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Kevin Garnett, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are the only DPOY winners to have also won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) during their careers;

Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Giannis Antetokounmpo won both awards in the same season. In Olajuwon's case, he is the only one to have also won the NBA Finals MVP Award and the NBA championship in the same season.

Michael Jordan is the only recipient to have also won the scoring title in the same season, when he also became the only player to win the award while averaging over 30 points per game (35.0).

  8. The hype is absolutely warranted. Wemby has the potential to be the most dominant player in NBA history. He has also displayed advanced maturity for his age and a mamba mentality, which makes me believe in him even more. Injuries are always a concern, but he trains smart and the Spurs are being smart with him. I think this phrase is a bit overused yet appropriate in this case, but the sky is the limit for Victor Webanyama.

  9. Tell me you American without telling me you’re American.
The hate on non-American players by these so called “professional journalists” is beyond comprehension

  10. Look right now there is only one player redefining the game !! Jokic is the best by a country mile and will stay the best until he retires! Wendy oops I mean Wemby will have to wait until that day!

  11. lmaoo , brousarrd comparing rookie wembenyama to tim , who graduated from wake , n the admiral , who spent 6 years in the navy before touching an nba court is wild . let pop do his thing

  12. Mark Eaton played more game than Lebron during his first 10 seasons, but retired early (875 games in 11 seasons, so 79.6 per season). Shaq was 7'1 but much heavier. Wemby and the spurs staff have to find the balance so he is neither too skinny nor too built up.

  13. Finally a Wilt predecessor👌🏾😬🤦🏾‍♂️ I always wanted to know what it felt like to watch a giant move that freakishly

  14. Comparing minutes played between eras isn’t a helpful exercise. Yeah, LeBron played 40 something minutes early in his career during the tail end of the dead ball era where offenses were stagnant and half court driven. The pace of the game today is light years beyond what it was 20 something years ago. Guys across the league now are playing fewer minutes but more overall possessions.

Right now DeRozan leads the league in minutes per game at 37.8. Back in 02-03 that wouldn’t have even been top 30. There were 11 guys who averaged 40 or more that year.

Right now New York plays the slowest pace in the league at just 99.4 possessions per game. The famed 04-05 Suns who famously played a fast paced break neck speed style only averaged 99.2.

Let’s just do some math. Let’s say player A played 82 games and averaged 40 minutes per in the early-mid 2000s and his team averaged a moderate 95 possessions per game. He would end up playing about 6,465 possessions over the course of a season.

Now let’s pretend player B also played 82 games at 40 per night during this season and his team played a moderate pace at 103 possessions. He would end up playing 7010 total possessions.

The total difference between player B’s 7010 possessions and Player A’s 6465 possessions amounts to about 5 extra games for player B. Player A would have to play an additional 6 games at his current pace to match the total amount of possession played for player B.

  15. spot on Nick – next time you watch a game with SAS make a list, and list all the different touches and options he gets during a game. He is experimenting, but they are also scaffolding it, so that he gets to do it all. on the ball, off the ball, pick and roll, pnr handler, post ups, mid post, high post, pg

    they are creating a monster

  16. Unlike other players over 7'2, Wemby does not pituitary gland issues or gigantism, he is naturally tall because his parents are BOTH tall. He'll be fine. Nick is such an idiot
