When the full lineup is back I hope he’s the backup pg over Burks

  2. Nope. He’ll be traded for a Jordan clarkson type. Can’t even spell defense.

  3. I like Deuce and I think it’s ultimately up to him. He’s got the talent and needs to realize if he’s more aggressive he can actually score. I don’t really buy the narrative that Thibs “freezes” guys out as we’ve seen fans have said he’s done to RJ, IQ, and Obi.

So if Deuce plays water tight defense and doesn’t hesitate taking open shots and attack the basket as he did last game, I see a bigger role for him.

Dude played 47 minutes and he stepped up big time. He deserves minutes over Burks.

I think he’ll get the backup role split with Burks with how much thibs loves him. But game by game I think it will come down to who’s playing better.

Now I know he’s not in the same class as IQ but it might be a reason this FO was okay with including IQ in the OG trade.

Katz definitely reads this subreddit. Either that or great minds think alike when constantly thinking about the Knicks.

My thought is that Deuce has earned a role with everyone is healthy. Even if that forces Thibs to use (shock) 10 guys. He’s just too reliable on defense and his offense has grown from nonexistent to actually pretty decent this year.

He’s gotta play over Burks. That much is for sure.

If only Deuce was as fearless on offense as he is on defense.

That’s not to say he should be selfish, just more confident in his own abilities.

I’d like to see him use change of pace more and read the passing lanes before committing to dribbling to determine which holes to probe and how to respond to how the defense reacts to plugging those holes.

He had one play against the Cavaliers where he forced a baseline drive from the left wing forcing up a tough shot when he had Hartenstein open in the middle.

He was being overplayed on the drive and he should have used the Brunson classic pound dribble rip through to get back middle and to get the easy pass to Hartenstein.

Or he could have used a hesitation dribble to generate space then deliverd a behind the back pass to Hartenstein also.

There were also two occasions I can recall where he took a screen and the defending big showed, albeit weakly, but McBride dribbled right into the big for some reason and ended up briefly stuck having to utilize an escape dribble to retreat when he should have dribbled tighter to split the defense and get to the rack.

These are the little things I notice with McBride and it will come with time, but he should be noticing these holes before he even puts the ball on the floor.

He’s has talent, it’s simply being more consistent and reliable as a ball handler on offense where he must shine to take the next step for this team because we all know his defense is already top flight.

  10. Did I read that Miles is the 3rd longest tenured Knick? That’s mind blowing.
