With how the current standings are, how comfortable would you guys be with a first round series against the Pelicans, who is currently sitting in the 5th seed?

Phoenix currently has the hardest remaining schedule in the NBA and I don’t trust Sacramento to make a strong push for a top seed with how inconsistent they’ve been this year. Dallas has also started to lose a couple in a row, so I’m fairly confident as long as the Pelicans continue playing how they are now this is likely who we face if we stay in the 4th seed. They’ve had our number for the last couple of years and have kind of been “THAT” team for us for quite some time now, but I feel like in a playoff setting we’d be straight. We have the best player in the series, the best coach, and the better supporting cast.

being a doomer Clippers fan, I think there might have been a realization that the 1-8 2-7 3-6 and 4-5 might have the same-ish level of difficulty (assuming we stay 1-4). On top of that fans will probably travel to LA to support their team, making home court advantage feel weird like it always does in the Lakers arena.

That being said, I think finishing with a better record than the Nuggets is very very valuable. Not necessary, but valuable.

Honestly? I would be okay with it. I don’t think Willie Green will out coach Ty Lue in a series.

In all honesty, with the way things are trending, New Orleans would beat us in 7 games. They matchup VERY well against us. We need to avoid them.

If you give me Pels, Kings or Warriors in the first round right now, I’m snatching your hand. The first loss to Pels came around the time we lost to Reggie and Deandre led Nuggets. To me, that was a different team from who we are now. The second loss came when the whole team was running on fumes after a grueling road trip and Zubac at 80% had Zion afraid of going to the rim. If that series goes longer than 5 games, it’s an absolute failure for the Clippers.
It’s a pick your poison situation with the second round. It’s probably best to avoid the Nuggets till the conference finals.

It’ll be hard series. We can win it, but we’d be more banged up and fatigued for a second round series than we would be if facing the Suns or Kings.
