NEXT DAY THREAD: The Celtics choke a huge lead to the Cavs

I haven’t seen the people of this sub call each other dumbasses so much in a long time, it was a pretty impressive view on the cleanup before posting this lol

Also enjoy the guy who decided to spam report things on our sub today because he is an insecure [heat fan](https://imgur.com/a/U6WjRUM). Reddit admins have been notified about you dude, enjoy the ban.

Ok disclaimer here that I missed the game because work but then looking in at Reddit/twitter gnashing of teeth and then perusing the 4th quarter play by play and the Cavs made 8 straight 3s?!? And missed no shots?!? And we lost by the slimmest possible margin?

I dunno that doesn’t seem like some sort of collapse that seems like otherworldly shot making by the opponent. I dunno. It’s a make miss league.

I rewatched the last 5 minutes. Out of 10 FGA, 5 were from a pass, 2 were post up, 2 were pick and roll, and only one was iso ball (the last shot by Tatum). I think this is a very typical break down of celtics offense. The offense looked stagnant because they couldn’t make them.

Came into this sub expecting to see people not overreacting to a 1 point loss after a great winning streak. Once again expected too much from this sub lol

When we have a big lead, the main focus on defense should be limiting opponents three point shooting. Guard the perimeter, don’t let them get hot from three, let them challenge the paint. It’s way more difficult for them to kill us with 2-pointers when we have a big lead.

Denver losing as well and choking a lead softened the blow a little

Mazulla should play the Wade putback 100 times in the film session. Sometimes you can do nothing when your opponent is red hot. Sometimes you can do nothing when your shots aren’t falling. But you can always try hard on boxout, especially in clutch time. It’s about attitude and discipline.

A humiliating loss before the Denver game can be a good thing. The next game might be the most important game in the regular season. The Celtics need to stay humble if they want to beat Denver.

We stinked in the 4th when we went up 20, clearly thinking that the Cavs are gonna wave the white flag. Luke was playing maybe 3 mins too much but its hard to argue against it when we were up so much. Wade just hit some insane shots to close it out, while we missed some ok looks, some good looks and a few not so good looks. Things happen, and all streaks will eventually come to an end, gotta just give the Cavs credit for fighting through this one.

At this point in the season we know what this team is, and its getting pretty tiring to argue with all these people that seemingly only show up after a L to shit on the team. No, this team is not without faults, and they played pretty badly in the 4th tonight, but all these dumb takes and overreactions after a loss is pathetic, especially after we just rekt Dalls and GSW by huge margins.

Flush this game down, and hopefully we show up in Denver.

With a 35% chance to make a 3, our odds of going 0/8 are 5%

If Dean Wade has a 40% chance to make a 3, his odds of going 5/5 are 2%.

The odds of both things happening are 1%.

Our shot selection and the shots we allowed the Cavs to shoot gave us a 99% chance to win, if all else stays equal.

Had we given up 5 turnovers and 10 fastbreak points, there would be reason for concern. But we actually generated good looks and ran our offense, and the 1% chance happened to occur.

Sure we made some mistakes, but nothing glaring. It was genuinely a case of extreme bad luck.

Dean Wade’s chances of making a 3 are much higher than 40% when he’s left wide open.

Watch the dean wade go 0-4 from 3, 2 points against the hawks tonight

  12. I think many in the sub have PTSD flashbacks vs the Heat when some players just couldn’t miss scoring even with their one footed heat checks

It’s good, keeps the complacency away, reminds the team there isn’t an easy path to the finals and they have to fight every step of the way. Especially Joe Mazz who really let the team down in the last possession

  13. Celtics don’t lose often but when they do they make sure to do it in the most embarrassing way possible.
