Carslile needed to go, the problem is who we chose to replace him. The fact that we didn’t even conduct interviews is ridiculous

I mean Rick comes with his own issues as well, even with a solid trio in Hali,Turner and Siakam they are only 8th in a weaker eastern conference.

They only have a half game up on us.

I think Rick is an excellent coach but we would have been calling for his job all the same if he stayed.

I mean, the word was that Nico wanted Kidd and that was important to getting him as GM. So you could say we were fortunate in that regard depending on how you feel about him.

Boooooooo trash take. Luka and most players loathed Rick. He never trusted JB and stunted his development. He had awful rotations too, and didn’t know how to maximize KP. I get Kidd is worse, the team he had to work with wasn’t great and KP’s body betrayed him a lot, but Rick was a problem for like 3 years before he left.

Luka needs a players coach like Kidd, but one who isn’t obsessed with THJ and Kleber.

I imagined we’d get a massive downgrade with Kidd as HC and we got exactly that

  6. Should’ve hired Mosley at the time. Just look at how he’s doing in Orlando with a fraction of the top end talent we have here…

Carlisle’s time was up. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was hiring Kidd to replace him.

We all knew it would come to this, but hoped Luka could somehow win in spite of Kidd. And he did for one year.

  8. IMO Rick’s rotations were even worse and we were on track to lose Luka without a change

  9. Carlisle was a great coach, but he lost the team, so it was time to move on. Kidd was a great player, but he’s a mediocre coach. The lineups he puts in the floor are head scratching bad. And the fact he lets players on the floor based on some misguided players code veteran loyalty nonsense, rather than based on their ability, is asinine. The sooner Kidd is fired, the sooner the team can start getting better.

People on here forget that it was time for Carlisle to leave. That wasn’t a mistake.

The mistake was hiring Kidd from the outside instead of promoting Jamahl Mosley.

Would Kyrie have stayed this past summer if Kidd wasn’t coach? Would the Mavs have still missed the play-in last year and gotten Lively? I don’t know. But the coaching situation would’ve been in much better hands

He didn’t get run out of town lol. Donnie Nelson’s nephew got sexually harassed by one of Cuban’s top guys and was fired for trying to do something about it, Rick quit in solidarity. Tim MacMahon articles are sensationalist nonsense.

No, it’s the addition of Jason kidd and the inabillity to kick him out

  13. Carlisle is Luka’s equivalent of Dirk and Avery. The only difference is, Dirk took what Avery said to heart and got better.

It shouldn’t have been that hard to see at first. The championship coach gets run out of town to appease a kid who has proven nothing.

  15. Liamesque

Hiring Kidd instead of Mosley who Luka endorsed was odd even to me at that time. Now it’s clear that Mark is a fucking dumbass and always has been.

  16. epicingamename

Look, i like rick as much as the next guy, but this “cant get over your ex” phase is kinda getting lazy

    The problem is the ownership.

They need to surround him with championship calibre players.

That’s what the Bulls and Warriors did with Jordan and Curry and kept the same players together for a large run.

Cleveland never did that with Lebron, cause well the owner was an idiot.

And the Mavs ownership is no different, Cuban is exactly like Dan Gilbert, and doesn’t want to surround Luka with the talent to win. Cuban now sold the team to a new owner, which is even worse.

I hope Luka leaves this joke of a franchise.

This entire premise is wrong. Carlisle wasn’t run out of town, he resigned after Donnie Nelson was fired. That’s a big problem in this sub: too many times people are trying to weave a narrative based on falsehoods
