Episode of lockdown Spurs where we discussed bronny James that the Spurs should take a shot at him um if he’s available on the the board uh you know cuz the lure of LeBron James possibly following his son wherever he lands should he declare for the NBA draft

Either this year or the following year so with that being said you can expect a lot of Spurs fans had a lot of reaction to that first one up is from Maris vagan he says I am rooting for Brony but the Spurs will never draft him I’m right

There with you Maris I don’t think the Spurs will draft him one because I think it’ll be too much attention you know you know how the Spurs are you know lowkey keep it classy keep it lowkey bringing LeBron and his son and with Victor R was

Rise that’ll be a lot of Spotlight on the Spurs you know what if the Spurs assign uh bronny to the G League you know how will LeBron react that way what if he sees LeBron I mean his son getting chewed out by pop you know there’s a lot

Of things in there and it could be a mess now it could work out as well you know LeBron you know comes to San Antonio suits up you know paired with Wy you know LeBron is playing you know incredible despite you know his age

So I think that could be kind of a bonus but how long will LeBron stay here will we get a busted up version of LeBron at that point of his NBA career do the Spurs even want to invest in a project player like bronny I mean Scouts say

That he could stand to stay in USC for another year you know but there’s conflicting reports you know now he’s gauging the waters for this year’s draft so we’ll see we’ll see but I’m right there with you Maris I don’t think the Spurs should take a chance on bronny

Unless there’s a absolutely 100% sure that LeBron is going to come to San Antonio but I I just don’t think that will happen so right there with you mares thank you for the comment and again more comments about the bronny James episode next one up is from Victor

Sant he says only draft bronny in the late second round if Braun is going to join for at least two years and then be a player coach again another scenario the Spurs could entertain uh yes I agree with you if Bron’s available no ways he

A first round draft pick based on the SC of reports he is a second round even mid second round to late second round you know again I I don’t think the Spurs will get him but yeah I agree with you if LeBron is going to commit for at

Least two years and then be a player coach I mean that’s probably a lot for LeBron I don’t think he might have coaching uh you know in his uh future but you know what what at two years what kind of LeBron are we gonna get at two

Years where is he gonna be at in his career you know we know he’s averaging 20 plus points per game right now for the Lakers you know there’s you he won Western Conference of the month award for February so he’s still playing at high clip but man I you know about

Bronny does he want to play with in the shadow of his dad on the same team yeah I mean that’s a lot of pressure for the kid it is the NBA they’re Pros but still yeah I think there’s just too much to think about you know that’s where I feel

Like if you have to think about it so much do you take the shot personally and I do think some of the guests that mentioned this I think the Lakers will probably draft bronny just to keep LeBron in La uh if that happens and you

Know I always say too you know if the Spurs do get him I think automatically flipping him because of the lure of bringing LeBron James with him so for example hey Denver or hey Dallas hey you know whatever team that needs a little push to become a legit contender in the for

An NBA title hey we can give you LeBron’s son bronnie and there’s a possibility he might come with his dad so you know do you use that as kind of a tool to make a good deal for a late second round pick I think you do that

Kind of start hitting a a a rise around the allar break and sure enough this is happening it’s post Allstar break Roary road trip is over and here they go they’re looking a lot sharper but look you don’t want to kneejerk and say okay yeah they turned the corner

Because we’ve been down this road before this uh the season but we got to give credit where credit is due so he is with that being said what are two things you’re noticing Spurs are doing right of late well I like what you said there by

The way because the Spurs won two in a row back in January then they lost 12 out of 13 so this just feels a little bit different it does and it feels a little bit different because the Spurs have beaten some good teams the past um

Week or so and I think that there’s been some formative changes of what’s going on within the Spurs and part of it involves uh pop and wemi I kind of get the feeling that pop trust wmi more has taken off the training wheels for sure uh W’s no longer on a minutes

Restriction of 24 minutes and even when he was taking off of minutes restriction it was 26 27 minutes yeah now we’re seeing him play 31 32 minutes and beyond all that notice how down the stretch a couple of things are going on down the stretch the Spurs are feeding Wy the

Ball and he is the focal point of the offense 80 90% of all the possessions down the stretch especially in the close game or going through wmy secondarily it’s going to Vel so that’s one thing the second thing is is that I noticed against the Oklahoma City Thunder uh

Last week when Webby got in foul trouble pop didn’t yank him pop trusted him enough to stay out of foul trouble to not pick up that third foul and he didn’t you know and and Wy kind of got back into the game so I kind of feel

Like pop is trusting Wy a little bit more but at the very least giving him a longer leash to do what he needs to do and web’s now establishing himself as a top 10 player in the NBA already as a rookie yeah won the Rookie of the Year oh rookie of the

Month excuse me for February check was nominated for Western Conference player of the month of the week excuse me excuse me of the week yeah but LeBron James won that but just the fact he got nominated and the numbers he’s putting up monster numbers 20 plus points per

Game over well close to over three blocks a game about 3.9 leads a league in that department so you’re seeing him him maybe turning a corner personally in his individual development uh and becoming the superstar that many thought he would and yeah I do agree with the trusting well

Pop trusting wimy has turned him uh into what we’re seeing right now and you know one thing credit to Victor too for allowing papic to coach him to say you know what I know you don’t want to be a four you’re don’t pigeon hold me which

You said but guess what playing you at the five works and the numbers prove that he men is it does and it opens things up because he can shoot the three so it’s kind of like from a defensive standpoint who are you going to put on

Wy are you going to put the five on him Wy can blow right by you uh are you g to put somebody smaller well wy’s gonna be able to shoot over you and part of it is is the fact that wemy has become so lethal uh from three he’s been shooting

Over 40% the last 10 games right and with that you have to respect his three-point shot because early on the season it wasn’t like that early on the season was like let him shoot he’s going to Brick it you know he was shooting 26 27% from three now for the season he’s

Over 33% so you have to respect what he’s doing from the outside W’s a seems to be a lot more uh in control a lot more confident in his game both inside and outside and the training wheels are off and it’s it’s fun to see because you

Know Wy is putting up stats I mean I made a point earlier today even in his bad game W’s putting up some big stats and if you look at the stats that he has for the season a guy that’s came into the league at 19 now 20 years old with

Better stats than Giannis had in giannis’s second season not just giannis’s rookie season where he was averaging single digits but he has a better stat line than Giannis did after his second season in the NBA this is a special guy man and it is it’s it’s it’s coming it’s coming

Together for him and because of coming together for him we’re seeing the other players kind of slide into the roles a little bit better and I’m assuming that’s as good as seg way for your point number two what other the second thing you’re seeing the Spurs are doing right

But actually what they’re doing with your favorite player Sohan yeah so Jeremy uh can’t believe we’re gonna hear he man give soan some props right now here it comes oh yeah everyone’s uh you know been giving me the that form on Twitter sign the form

He man sign sign the form uh I’ll sign him as a I’ll sign the form if he’s going to be what he’s doing right now which is being the number four guy on the offense uh the game that I went to a few days ago uh when the Spurs won their

Second game in a row against the Pacers there were no plays called for soan at all Jeremy was not bringing the ball up he was not uh the focal point of the offense at all and what was he able to do get double figure points by doing what crashing the

Boards by running the break by following up on shots and he was basically doing what he excels at go figure go figure that Jeremy soan is doing good things at things that he’s comfortable doing instead of being told to run the point when he’s never run the point in his

Entire life instead of being told to you know chunk a lot of three-pointers when he’s never been a good three-point shooter Jeremy soan is now excelling in a different way maybe the stats don’t reflect it because a lot of what he does doesn’t show up on the box score but

Jeremy is playing a lot better because he’s more within himself he seems to be a lot more confident out there and it’s not all about stats with him anymore it had to be about stats early in the season because he was such a big focal point of the offense but if he’s not

That guy if he’s not that guy and he’s the number four option out there I’ve like seen the past week all right well you heard it there you’ll sign it if he so continues all right so he may has gave you his two my turn to give you two

One that stands out to me is composure earlier this season we heard papovich say this team is immature they haven’t learned how to close out games uh you know they weren’t uh showing great grit and grunt as Pop would say but now we’re starting to see that Casey point the win

Over the Pacers Spurs had a huge lead yes a huge lead over Indiana you know one of the offensive juggernauts this year he menis but even when the Pacers cut that lead down to Four Points late in the game my first thought was here we go again you know the blown lead again

We saw earlier in the season against Toronto for example that was the debacle but they didn’t they actually withstood the storm and they put the clamps down they made shots as matter of fact they’re making more threes than their opposition in recent games so that’s right like I like the composure they’re

They’re taking the punch he Menace but they’re not dropping down they’re not out for the count they’re not tapping out they’ll get right back up and they’re still fighting forward Heen it’s your thoughts well the Spurs are losing the lead at the end of the third quarter

Because Wy is not on the court when W’s on the court but even then that shows that they can still weather the storm though without wmy well no I mean I don’t think they’re in the storm greatly I think it’s one of those things where wy’s playing a lot more minutes and

Because he’s playing more minutes they don’t have to worry about him not being on the court so much you know it’s it’s they’re a different team when he’s not on the court man the Spurs are an awful team when he’s not on the court in fact

Uh that game against the Pacers you saw it was just a it was just a parade line to the Lane for the Pacers and McConnell went off and halberton went off when when he wasn’t in there uh but but there’s something to be said said though

About when he does come back into the game and a nine-point lead evaporates to one point within a minute and a half and to write the ship but that all goes into the fact that the offense is now going back through wemi and I think that as wemi gains his confidence it

Becomes infectious and I think it’s one of those things where he becomes confident then all of a sudden Vel knocks down a couple of shots then all of a sudden Zack Collins who had been playing horribly in February starts knocking down shots and then Malachi Brum suddenly looks like an NBA player

And Blake Wesley is Rim rocking some dunks it becomes infectious and I think it’s it’s kind of a trickle down effect that all starts with the enthusiasm the confidence of wemi everyone else falling into place and then soan doing his thing uh Kell knocking down shots uh as of

Late uh I just think it’s the Infectious nature of one guy feeling it and then you you have the confidence that hey wait a minute we’re playing with a top 10 player in the NBA right now the confidence level and by the way we’ve been talking a lot about oh well free

Agents want to play with with a wmy right they I don’t think they want to play with the wmy of of November and December even January but what he’s doing in February what he’s doing in March I think is setting the stage for somebody body big who wants to be

Alongside of him and either be the number two or number three yeah I think this is where he might differ from pass Spurs uh franchise Cornerstone players like Duncan and and and Robinson not to say that they didn’t try to attract uh free agents but I think instead of them

Having to try I think it’ll be the reverse where fre will be like hey there’s this kid down there want to go play with there makes my life easier yeah so I think he may change uh that franchise piece Vibe him by himself but but as far as the composure is concerned

Yeah I like what I’m seeing you know they look a little bit more mature you know hopefully that’ll continue that Trend to close out the end of the regular season and move on to the postseason and carry that over into the off into the new season my only thing is

That imagine if they get things clicking and the coaching staff’s like you know what they got it let’s run it back can you imagine that like they understood it they finally got it let’s run it back but but you know you you mentioned a name right now and I think that’s number

Two on my list is Devon vasel that I think he is learning and he is solidifying himself as the onew combo punch with W obviously being the second not the one punch but he’s he’s fitting the role of that partner to Wi as matter of fact I spoke with him recently and I

Asked him about balanced offense and right away he said hey when me or wimy are not going so he’s already recognizing it he’s saying like yeah when me wimy is not firing on cylinders we can use some help we can use some help so you’re looking at that that

There’s balance scoring now the Spurs have another threat outside of wmy hopefully he’ll keep that going papovich is saying that he’s really taking a big step forward in his development becoming a bit of a facilitator obviously he’s a scorer but I like that Wy as of now has

A kind of has a running mate now right next to him already in silver and black hum Menace yeah yeah very Jamal Murray esque when it comes to like playing with joic um I think the big part of all this happened about a month ago or so if you

Remember uh the cell was criticized because Spurs were down by what one or two points they they drew a play up for wmi to win the game and Vel didn’t even look his way and wemi was wide open I know there was only a four seconds or so

To go uh but Vel took that shot and after the game was like yeah I’ll take that shot over again you know he didn’t back down from it and we were all having this conversation about whether or not Vel thinks he’s the alpha on the team

But he thinks is the number one option and that Wy is the robin to vel’s Batman and ever since that criticism and ever since that game you kind of seen Vel take a step back a little bit when it comes to that and understand that you

Know what this is wy’s team and it could be my team team too it doesn’t have to be one and two it could be one in one a yeah but but just just that little tweak right there means a lot because the offense runs through him and and the

Thing about wemi though is that you see wemi he’s not bringing the ball up the court and I don’t want him to bring the ball up the court but just give him the ball somewhere in the just somewhere in the blocks and have him do air traffic

Control from there and he’s finding Vel he’s finding Vel in his spots just as well as Trey Jones does yeah and both well go ahead sorry oh I was going to say and vasel seems to be very comfortable because even though he’s taken one half step back he’s still

Getting the shot attempts he is he’s still getting the points per game career high over 19 points now um he’s taking that mini leap he’s he’s progressed forward and he’s earning that extension that he was given absolutely yeah I think he’s solidifying himself as well as part of the rebuild onward I know

Every be saying no player is Untouchable outside of wimy but and vel’s making a strong case for that label to be slapped on him to make it a really and if the Spurs do want to trade him it’ll have to be for somebody big you know big big big

Packag Allah jontay Murray the package they got from Atlanta something to that effect or maybe more right but yeah Isel is doing well right now he is number two on my list of reasons why the Spurs are looking a lot sharper of late hey we’re done talking we want to hear from you
