Basketball is the one sport I completely don’t understand why teams don’t try to give their young guys minutes early and often in a season. These young dudes should be sharing minutes with the starters in early season basketball. Prepare them for if they are needed in Playoffs.
Guys like Reed, Springer, and now Council play with hustle and drive to prove themselves, give them all minutes early in the season. I mean, everyone bitches about how grueling the NBA season is, so why not mix in your youth with your vets/starters early in the season and give them experience while ramping up your main playoff players?

Stop with this. You morons are the reason why Paul Reed is still on this team. You fall in love with some dude who plays a few mins and has a good game or two and all of sudden you think we struck gold and he should be a every game rotational player.

People don’t really understand roles, or at least how a modern offense works.
The problem with Ricky is he really needs the ball in his hands to be effective. He has these huge scoring spurts when he has the ball with our 3rd string g league lineup, but otherwise hasn’t looked anything crazy outside a pretty good closing vs Washington with our main guys
You have to either 1) great off ball scorer, 2) great shooter or 3) actually be a main engine with playmaking for the most part. Great slashers without the first two aren’t doing much because they’re useless without the ball and if they can’t playmake (esp if they’re not some unstoppable athlete like Ja, Zion).
I mean I’m good with more Ricky minutes, but I have no idea how people have manifested the idea that it’d lead to more wins. This screams Paul Reed where people placed absurd hopes on him that he’d start or even get extended minutes as a 4, when reality is he’s just a great backup 5 and nothing more. Then when he shows to be *exactly that*, the same dudes get upset and call him a bum lmao….

That’s cause we can’t sign him officially for a while due to luxury tax. He is still on a 2 way and if we wait a couple weeks we could save a couple hundred k on his contract and give him a better one next year
