This sucks. Back injuries suck. Really hoped he could bounce back this season.

Not everyone can do what Brook Lopez did. Hopefully Ben gets better next season :/

  2. LUFC_shitpost

Goodbye Ben, we hardly knew ya!

What was the source of this injury btw, was it literally a result of sitting out half a season?

On a serious note, I hope he gets better obviously. But, perhaps it’s time to think about retiring.

  3. ihavepaper

I’m wishing for the best for him. Honestly. It’s just a shit situation knowing how great he is when he’s at full strength.

But this should’ve been done when he was traded here…..

  4. SakuraShift

No hate towards the guy but retirement has got to be on the table as an option at this point.

  5. RomeoBMcFlourish

Awww man. He was JUST about to bust out and return to form.

  6. tbloom117

Honestly feel for the dude. Having a serious nerve injury that never goes away despite surgery and months and months of rehab…. That’s gotta suck

  7. UnitedStateOfDenmark

If he was ruled out for all of next season, would we be able to get an injury exception for him and open up a ton of cap space?

  8. JurgenFlippers

I look into Brandon Roy’s career in a minute ago. Man it’s so similar. Obviously Roy was a bit better of a player. But both played about 6 years and just couldn’t beat injuries.

I know we have no reason to support Ben cause he’s not done anything in a Nets jerseys but man it just sucks when players get cut down so young with injuries like this. Just cannot shake this back injury man.

Thank God, can’t wait for this bum to be gone from our team and eventually the league. That cap space is gonna be nice

    > Nets say Ben Simmons is out for the remainder of the season

    ~~the season~~ his career.

  11. Sir-Manny

Ben Simmons was never worth the gamble. Between the playstyle concerns, his injury past, his lack of dedication and the fact he sat out half the season on his team, there were enough red flags.

  12. Afuldufulbear

I feel for him. I had back surgery and I feel pain too sometimes, and that’s just from sitting wrong, not from playing professional basketball. It is sad. I really believe that he would play if not for his injuries.

  13. TheMoorNextDoor

    Expected.

He needs to call it quits though.

He could become a good coaching assistant in the future he’s got the BBIQ for it.

  14. the overly vocal and optimistic agent wasn’t being honest with what he was trying to sell everyone? color me shocked

  15. SecondRedditAccount4

Not a single person should be surprised. The writing was on the wall even when he **was** playing.

  16. fucksports

i wish him the best but i can’t wait for this team to move on from ben. it’s exhausting getting your hopes up just to be let down over and over again. once his contract is off the books this team will be able to move in a new direction and finally turn the page on the big three era and all it’s ramifications.

  17. geographic92

We all knew this was coming. It’s over for him. Obviously an injury like that sucks (I’ve had similar problems) but lucky for him he got the bag. Hope he didn’t blow it all because it’s never happening again.

It’s gonna be painful when they inevitably promote a ramp up next season to make taking on that contract look a little more palatable.

Fuck you sean marks. How could you do this to us.

  18. No physical check during Harden – Ben trade was crazy. I can’t believe Nets had KD Kyrie and Harden at 1 point and suddenly left with only broken Ben. Today’s NBA is all about star players, you always trade pieces for a star, the organization really needs to reflect what has been wrong in the past few years. Nets will continue suffering next season, and hopefully we can be playoff contenders in the next 10 years.

  19. Top-Willingness6963

Back nerve impingement is a bitch. I know someone who has it and she has to have like 2 hours of prep time for her back each morning just so she can do basic every day things.

  20. shadow_spinner0

There can’t be any fans who still have faith in this guy right? That Harden trade was a disaster. Better to have just called his bluff and not trade him.

  21. zestysnacks

Knew it as soon as the leg soreness was announced

  22. AyyyeRudy

This should be the nail in the coffin for Marks. Not asking for a physical before agreeing on this trade should be a firable offense. Maxey could of been added to that trade if he played his cards right. What a disaster

  23. shadow_spinner0

The FO took a gamble on him when they didn’t need to and banked this whole season on Simmons getting back to form. How does Marks still have a job? Other teams would have canned him by now.

  24. funandloving95

Finessed the league idc what Ben feeners say. This is why there needs to be stipulations in place for all NBA players (unless maybe arguably full contracts guarantees for the very few like the LBJ / Steph etc)

  25. Surfif456

Exactly how did Ben pass his physical in the Harden deal?

  26. hushed-shush

This guy’s health really rips the joy out of this team. It’s challenging to watch sometimes to see the team look deflated and Ben is on the bench like a mannequin. The team is structured for him to be an active participant but all we get is 15/82 games. Rinse and repeat next season.
