How much power does someone have as head coach? They clearly watch film and I fucking know people tell him this 3/4 guard lineups are not fucking working. I know for a fact people tell him why tf is prince playing more than 20 mins? I mean how can he be this fucking delusional and incompetent. He kills all the moment and usually it’s players that lose games but he’s lost most games for the lakers. I can see Ham be a decent coach for a young up and coming team where he can afford to make rookie coaching mistakes and learn on the fly.
However, for a championship contender that needs to win NOW where those simple mistakes are magnified 10-fold and is the difference between a W or L? Sorry, but Ham is not the coach for that job.
His mistakes are literally stuff a coach learns at the elementary level. Idk what he said in his interview but holy fuck he put on a good show

He’s a great coach… for a tanking team. Rookie coaches should never coach contenders. It is tare for them to be great. Ty Lue, Kerr and Udoka are the only exceptions. What helped them is that they knew how to run the Xs and Os

I do understand that Dlo and Reaves aren’t world class defenders (but I don’t expect anyone to stop any other guard today). But what is our most glaring problem is the fucking onslaught of wide ass open threes we give up and how poorly we defend the cuts to the basket.
All year long we’ve given up wide ass open threes. And all year long there have been 0 adjustments to fix that shit. Every motherfucking game we’re giving up at least 10-15 wide open, uncontested threes – and that’s just the uncontested threes. We’re not talking about uncontested mids or the mass of the half-assed effort contests that lead to shit like all of Porter’s one dribble pull ups.
Rotations, communication, effort and other basic, general good defensive habits have to be worked on in practice. All that shit has to be handled by the coach. That’s what the fuckers paid to deal with – and clearly dumb fuck Ham has done fuck all to improve anything.
