On the day it was announced that KAT suffered a potentially season ending injury, he donated $1,500 to a Wolves Fan’s Mom’s GoFundMe to help battle her stage 4 cancer. The donation was made without any press. And according to MN press its not uncommon for KAT to do things like this

> Karl Anthony Towns, you are an amazing human being. Even on a day that didn’t have the best news for yourself, you took the time to impact and care for me and my family. Im absolutely speechless and cannot thank you enough. @KarlTowns wishing you a speedy recover 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

From Jon K. of the Athletic who covers the Wolves:

> Not uncommon for KAT.

KAT has long been known to be a really nice guy despite getting dealt shitty hand after shitty hand. After losing 8 family members to covid he became an advocate for the vaccine when multiple stars were coming out against it. Even during a week where he lost his friend and may have lost his best chance at going for a ring, he’s thinking about others. Thats who KAT is

  2. Not too many players are good humans off-the-court, props to KAT. Wishing him an easy recovery.

  3. He’ll be remembered in NBA history as the good Karl.

KAT is a dam tragic figure among NBA stars today. I love to make jokes about his voice, but when i heard about what happened to his familie…well man that shit got to me.

He also seems like a nice guy in general.

That is some wholesome shit right there. I love hearing athletes doing good in the community

He gets shat on alot by the sub for being too soft.

Does the NBA have an equivalent of the NFLs Walter Payton man of the year award?

They should and if they already have it, they should publicize it more and give a patch on the jersey to award winners like the nfl does

KAT has about as rough a life as you could possibly imagine for an NBA star. He’s a goofy guy and it’s fun to poke fun at him for it, but this guy is a god damn soldier and puts everyone else before himself.

Thank you whoever posted this, the KAT “redemption arc” story is long overdue. This is the person he’s always been, even in the face of years of hate by a nation of fatass TV watching posers

I’ve always liked KAT. Dude gets overhated. Seems like a good guy

I mean that’s fucking cool and all. But let’s not over play 1500 bucks.

I don’t believe in karma, but if there is, that man deserves every bit of good that’s coming back to him.

Kat is a good dude. A few of his family members passing from Covid was so sad, I don’t know how he was able to deal with that kind of grief. I hope he’s gonna be okay physically.

I’m not sure why, but I’ve always liked watching KAT play. Something about Big Men that shoot ig.

I love the hell out of KAT as a person. He has dealt with so much tragedy. I sincerely hope he gets a ring at some point.

Petition to change his name to Metta World Peace?

  21. 4boos4too

KAT always been a good dude. Get well soon bro

It’s so dumb that it’s become “cool” to hate on KAT when not only has he demonstrated being a good person, but he’s also gone through a lot of shit. Also, while he’s perhaps underachieved a little, he is still a great player that any organization would be happy to have

Lady with stage 4 cancer: KAT you litterally made my life exponentially better, thank you so much!

The actually crowd on reddit: it’s such a small amount of his net worth who gives a shit! Why don’t I get credit for giving 5 dollars to a homeless man then? He’s just doing it for attention, if he really didn’t care he would have donated anonymously.

Yes these are actual comments I read.

  24. The 180 on him in our fanbase has been a welcome change. Hopefully his efforts this season still bingbong us to at least the 2nd round.

  25. NoveltyAccountHater

Nothing but kudos for KAT for donating, but how fucking shitty is the American health care system where family members of people battling cancer have to scrounge for money for medications. It’s worth noting that the Wolves fan had posted about his [mother passing, was thanking those who had donated to the go fund me (to help with medicine expenses insurance wouldn’t cover)](https://twitter.com/Kgformvp211/status/1765831783826833542) and an hour later the fan posts about [KAT just donated $1500](https://twitter.com/Kgformvp211/status/1765856594133168401).

LeBron would have video’d himself doing it and it would be “leaked” to the press. Good on Karl.
