An Inside Look Into the OKC Thunder’s High-Intensity Workouts | The Path with Royce Young

In an NBA season which includes 82 games in all sorts of unpredictability the expanse of a team is pressure tested and stretched but there are only so many minutes available so how do you stay ready and stay sharp you play but not just any way you play like you’re in a

Game know a guys start getting at it a lot of yelling there’s a lot of crap talking out there it gets super intense you know guys want to win we’re going to go at each other you’re going against your teammates there at the end of the day

We’re all NBA players going against each other is competitive a lot of times it can be more competitive than the actual NBA game we’re out there pushing each other to get better um moving the ball you get a lot of conditioning and so it really helps so when in kind of watching them

One of the game situations that seems to kind of happen is they get intense I mean there’s talking there’s like arguing over calls a little bit so like does it feel like it almost kind of simulates games in that way too yeah it does uh and the coaches they do a good

Job of kind of setting us up in game like situations and uh you know we’re out there we also just compete as well one thing I want to ask you about specifically is I know you played in some when you were kind of coming back from your back thing right like and how

Did they help you kind of get ready physically conditioning wise but also just kind of sharpness to get ready to step back out out on the floor uh pretty much both uh it allowed me to kind of get back into game like shape uh you can’t kind of compare the game

Situations to practice but you know high intensity workout kind of does the best job of that um as far as uh getting back in the game shape and allows you to kind of work on your game as well uh stay ready and be sharp you know whenever

Your numers called like I said You’ be ready to go K that all they try to mimic the competitive level and you know guys start getting at it um it gets super intense and you know it it’s fun it’s fun it’s able to keep your Competitive Edge kind of get your engine running

Back you know they’re going to do it they’re going to say whatever they need to say they’re going to they’re going to foul you they’re going to push you just to get you going and get you you know Competitive Edge back these practices happen everywhere in different cities or

At home because staying ready is part of the job and home and it’s part of a team because when your number is called you have to be in shape and be sharp and have that trash talk finally tuned

Royce Young catches up with Jaylin Williams, Kenrich Williams and Lindy Waters III to get their viewpoints on the Thunder’s game preparation. Each of the guys, provides an in-depth explanation of what motivates one another to work hard during a strenuous 82-game season. The common denominator — bringing high-intensity and competitive drive.
