  1. The defence is sooooo good

The offence is offensive that’s for sure

  2. BurnieTheBrony

Grizzlies tank is damn near perfect with how many clutch games we’ve turned into losses. I’m not even mad, that’s exactly what we’re looking for. But it really is wild looking back. Pete loves pointing it out, too

  3. harrybrowntown

Great effort from the boys one step closer to the promised land

  4. WonderingCashew

I can take the injuries, I can take the losing, I can take the bad offence.

But please no more Jordan Goodwin. I can’t take that.

Hats off to DJM. Made some tough ass buckets even though nobody else from the Hawks was firing.

Also saw that Jitty has 69 in binary code tattooed on his sleeve.

  5. There were so many missed passes to open cutters underneath the basket…sigh

I liked the Wenyon Gabriel and Trey Jemison chemistry, that was random and effective. Too bad that didn’t happen more.

So many missed bunnies in the 2nd quarter…

  6. Yinanization

We should have a plan to keep Lamar around next year. He is easy to root for.

My man Goodwin is no Gilly though…

    **Some postgame thoughts:**

**• VNice is nice but he’s got to bring down his turnovers…**

Part of this is we’re asking someone who would never otherwise handle the ball so much to shoulder the playmaking burden. That is inevitably going to result in a lot of turnovers. What concerns me is the **type** of turnovers. A lot of these are situation where Vince makes a move, the defense shuts it down and he picks up his dribble and panics.

That last part is what concerns me. It’s not an unfixable problem but it is very much a function of not having a natural playmaking inclination. It’s the instinct of a shooter —*whose moves are intended to end in a shot*— rather than a playmaker —*whose moves are open-ended*— which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just something that he’ll need to work on. At least 3 of his turnovers were lazy throwaways at the end of a blown play. A couple were the result of not being the best ballhandler.

If we didn’t have 4 point guards on our roster all injured, he wouldn’t need to handle the ball so much; it’s really not his fault.

**• Jaren is an awesome player just not a** ***clutch*** **player…**

Also just not his fault. Not everyone has that ability to be magical in the clutch. Ja is fucking magical in the clutch. If Ja was healthy, it would have been a duel between he and Murray in the last 5 minutes and Ja would have done the impossible as we’ve seen him do countless times.

It’s not that Jaren chokes in the clutch as much as he’s just not optimized for clutch situations. He *can* create off the dribble, he’s just not quick enough or in control enough to be dangerous in clutch situations. In fact, he’s precisely the sort of person a defense **wants** to have the ball: it’ll take him forever to make a move and if you’re able to lock him down, he’s not the sort of person who hits teammates in scoring position. When Ja or Des get the ball in crunch situations, everyone else on the floor is in play whether you like it or not. When Jaren gets it in crunch situations, you can basically forget about any other teammates…

**• Lamar Stevens is the David Roddy we always wanted…**

It’s exactly what we needed from Roddy, he just does it consistently and with several orders of magnitude more control. They’re crazy if they don’t sign him; there’s a place for people like him on the team.

**• Slaw Dog had a pretty good game, actually…**

He did not shoot well from three but other than that, he played well. Three steals and a block. Three boards and three assists. **Zero** turnovers. Made all his free throws. And, honestly, if it wasn’t for heaves in the closing minutes as we’re trying to come back, he was actually shooting it pretty well from beyond the arc. He had some good moves, even.

I dunno, y’all. Jake LaRavia might make believers out of you before it’s all said and done…

**• I’ll be interested to see Wenyen Gabriel over the course of more games…**

We need energy. He’s very quick with the ball in a way that Jaren just **isn’t**. That allowed him to get the drop on some defenders a few times in ways I’d love to see him do more. But to only have played about 13 minutes and get rebounds, assists, steals, blocks… I’m all about that energy.

He’s not a long term answer by any stretch but I think the offseason will open up space for players who prove themselves. I’d be interested in seeing if he turns out to be one of them.

    **• I don’t have much to say about Goodwin…**

Is he just bad and I’m ignoring him or is he just flying under the radar? I don’t know. It’s weird to play 24 minutes of a game without leaving an impression.

    **• Tank you very much!**

    18 more games to go!
