Magic at Knicks: Head coach Jamahl Mosley addresses the media and breaks down Friday’s loss.

You got to give New York a ton of credit they came out they were very physical um that’s the atmosphere that we’re going to have to get used to seeing and this is great preparation for us moving forward understanding how you can play the game of basketball uh at a high

Physical level and continue to do that obviously this team’s beaten the next three times this season but do you think this game says something about where these two teams are no did you feel like there was a physicality that your team didn’t meet with New York or what did

You think set the tone early I think we’ve done the same thing there’s a reason that they we beat them three times right there’s a energy about this building that they’ve come out with and this is the exact atmosphere that this Orlando Magic team needed to be able to

Feel the physicality to feel the the grabbing the holding the all of those things going on this is good preparation for the road in which we’re about to embark on you can you You’ obviously been in playoff situations before as a coach and throughout your career can you

Simulate that in games now like is this is this something you can point to say maybe not exactly the same but you know absolutely this is exact this is exactly what the playoffs will be like that’s exactly what we would want and that’s exactly what we will Embrace right

There’s no excuses about it you have to give New York a ton of credit for in the way in which they played uh not just their physicality but their ability to make shots get Guys open uh again this is something we’ll go back look look at learn from and continue to work on

Getting better in our areas that we need to this is a playoff like atmosphere playoff like game what needs to change for the result to be different against a team like this that’s going to be something we’ll go back and look at the film and make sure that we study it and

Understand exactly what adjustments and things we can do differently coach your group came into this one winning you know 13 its last 16 you know how much do you have to you know learn from this one and then and he’ll face a similar type of environment at home in Kia Center

Yeah uh and recapture that momentum think this is this is why it’s great for us to go through this experience because you know exactly how you need to play continue to play right and they did a great job of on the way they the way in

Which they played us and so we take it look at the film learn from it and and apply some of these things on Sunday was that just a team that started hot or was your perimeter defense just not where it needed to be in the first 10 minutes of

The game or so I think a combination of both I think they did a heck of a job setting screens getting Guys open uh and and you know they made some tough ones early uh and then from there it just it just became them being able to continue

To make tough shots and getting Guys open so marel take a you know hard fall how’s he doing I we’re going to you know he’s going to get some get get it looked at and we’ll be know more once we get back to Orlando do you have an idea if Jaylen

Sus could miss multiple games or you just going to see what he next couple days I think we we’ll continue to evaluate that when we get back to Orlando good morning K all right I’ll be back with Paulo thanks guys thanks see you guys were obviously hard to come by in

This one you know what did you see as as the reason for some of the offensive struggles uh I think they just did a good job speeding us up pressuring uh being physical uh blowing up you know some of our actions ball screen and motion um

Yeah they just you know you can feel the intensity from from the tip from them when the game’s intense like that speed you guys up what do you guys talk about in the game obviously you weren’t able to adjust at first but what goes through your mind when that’s

Happening uh I mean I think we knew they were going to come out you know we’ve beat them three times so we knew that they wanted this one and uh um I think just you know we got to be able to adjust in live action better um but yeah

I mean they just kind of caught us obviously you haven’t been in the playoffs yet but coach mly said that this felt like a playoff atmosphere playoff game the result is the result what what can you take away from this game uh we got our ass kicked we just

Got to be better um maybe that’s what we need you know just to get a taste of that and uh you know we just I mean playoffs we haven’t been there so it’s good that we you know if I haven’t been there so coach you know he said that was

What a playoff game is like so that’s what we got to you know we got to look at this game and adjust you know we got to realize that the playoffs is going to be a lot more physical um it’s going to be a lot higher higher intensity and uh

We got to we got to be ready for it your group came into this one M 13 of this last 16 games you know one of the hottest teams in the NBA you’ll face another tough team and a playoff like atmosphere Sunday against the Pacers

Just how much do you have to shake this one off learn from it and get ready for that type of atmosphere Kia Center uh yeah you just got to shake it off right away uh we got one day to rest and uh come come Sunday ready to

Play okay a go ahead um Paulo you guys obviously are a young group um and you guys have been putting really good stretches and you guys have built something here um can you speak to your leadership style and like how your approach has been and then what are you guys looking to

Accomplish yeah I think uh I mainly try and lead by example I think you know I’m definitely been a been um able to use my voice more and getting better at that I’m as a leader but mainly by example and just trying to um the leader game in and game out be

There for my team and uh I think you know as a team we’re trying to just reach New Heights as a team you know I think you know we’re in the playoffs right now as it is so we want to stay there know we want to get there and see

What we can do you know um I think tonight was a great learning experience so we just got to take it um learn from it and be better soate thank you

  1. Magic needed this. I knew they were going to lose once every youtube channel started talking about them. What frustrated me the most was Orlando kept whining about every no call. Turnovers and complaining to the refs every game will only cause them more losses

  2. Orlando has a good coach; but in a playoff environment I will pick New York. OG already an NBA champion change that whole the entire team. I think experience will matter.

  3. Yea they beat NY 3 straight times this season prior to this loss but the lack of starters in all those matchups canā€™t be overlooked. Several key guys either werenā€™t in the rotation or just flat out injured. Good team in Orlando though I just wouldnā€™t put too much stock into those games.

  4. Yeah you beat an incomplete knicks team 3 times. Talk the talk, we'll see you in the playoffs..

  5. I dont like the excuses about physicality. Knicks hit a ton of shots to start the game and just held on to that momentum. There where plenty of times the knicks were fouled that didnt get called. They got out played plain and simple.

  6. 1st games vs Knicks: 4 of the 9 Knicks players that played no longer on team
2nd game Vs Knicks: No Brunson
3rd game Vs Knicks: Brunson only Knicks real starter that played. Jericho Sims played 39mins, Alec Burks played 30mins, Jacob Toppin played 17mins.
4th game Vs Knicks: Knicks entire front court injured.
None of these 4 games are who the Knicks really are. Magic havenā€™t seen the real Knicks lineup šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

  7. Knicks fan here since 73! My hats off to the coach and coaching staff of Orlando. Very bright future as long as you don't face my Knicks!

  8. Keep saying you beat the Knicks 3x… In the NBA, as far as playoff teams… Only the last team to wins matters. Stop speaking fluff. AND… you lost to a team missing at least 3 starters.

  9. ā€œThereā€™s a reason we beat them 3 timesā€¦ā€
Yeaaa def not because the Knicks were missing KEY players every timeā€¦

  10. I would be scared if my coach played the 3 wins card when we all know the knicks were pretty injured in those games.
