That third quarter where he was really able to make things happen for the Mavericks scoring the final nine points of that third quarter including a buzzer beater at the end of the third where Tim Hardway Jr knocked it down to put the MAV up by 16 104 to 88 entering into the

Fourth quarter Tim Hardway was Sensational especially in that third quarter but it was an allaround team effort for a Mavericks team had turned the Detroit Pistons over 20 times scoring 35 points off of those turnovers although they were outrebounded in the game not Derek livley the second who

And the Mavericks got off to a slow start in the game against Detroit when you look at back what they did in the first quarter just five of 14 to start for the game Pistons using a 124 run to take an early lead but Simon fonio was

Fantastic scoring 13 of the final 15 16 points for the Detroit Pistons but the Mavs were up by one at the end or up by two excuse me at the end of one at 35- 33 Kyrie Irving was Sensational scoring 11 points points in that first quarter

Just underscoring how aggressive they were in this game and at times some really bad fouling from the Detroit Pistons you look at the second quarter K Cunningham who was really good in this game for the Mavericks could not withstand though did the Detroit Pistons the onslaught that was Luca donic in

That second quarter scoring 21 of the Mavericks 34 second quarter points as they shot nearly 55% from the field Kate Cunningham had 14 points with the Mavericks LED at the at halftime 69 to 65 and what you loved about the Mavericks was the aggressiveness obviously for Luca dones in a game where

Look you didn’t want to play with your food yes Detroit had a 28 game losing streak but at the same time they’ve been playing a little bit better as of late they on a current six-game home stand they got a win in their first game of that home stand stand against Brooklyn

So feeling a little bit more confident and it was a competitive first half for Detroit taking on the Mavericks and you knew that the Mavericks were going to have to earn it in this game and they were able ble to do so Luca dones with a series of baskets again another and one

Opportunity in that second quarter as well turn around buck as Luca dones was doing it all for the Mavericks including knocking down a step back three-pointer that had the Mavs up by nine with 58 seconds left in the first half capping off what was as I mentioned that 21

Point second quarter that he had scoring 21 of his 26 in that second quarter so look Mass up by four and halftime but then things really started to turn the corner in that third quarter as I mentioned they started up by four to begin the period go on a 104 run to push

Their lead to 10 a perfect 44 start again the aggressiveness in this game and getting after Detroit and especially in that third quarter really putting the pedal to the metal they started overall eight of nine from the field as they led by 11 with five and a half minutes left

A lot of contributions from a lot of different guys and you were able to handle business and that is my largest takeaway from the game is you’ve handled business against the teams that you’re supposed to and the Mavericks did it once again the question will be as they

Get ready to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder the Denver Nuggets the Golden State Warriors after they take on Chicago on Monday how do they respond against teams in the west that they’ve got to be in order to continue to try and climb up the Western Conference

Standings and get out of that dreaded playing situation they still got two games against the Sacramento Kings they still got three games against the Golden State Warriors they’ve got to be able to stack as many wins as they can and then be able to really put it down when it

Comes to taking on the teams that are above them and behind them to catch up to what’s going on in front of them but also keep the teams at Bay that are behind them and hopefully you get some help in front of you whether it be from

Phoenix whether it be from the Los Angeles Lakers who are behind the Mavericks as a mentioned in the night spot but also when you look at what Sacramento is doing the New Orleans Pelicans sitting there at the five spot right now you’re trying to find a way to

Stack these wins together so that maybe you can get some help from some of these teams in front of you and behind you beating up on each other because if the season were to end today the Mavericks would be facing the suns in the playin and you would have the Golden State

Warriors and the Lakers taking on each other in the nine and 10 matchup so things are obviously treacherous in the west but for the Mavericks huge win for them continuing to hopefully build on some momentum and then we really start to find out who they are when they take

On Chicago when they come home to take on teams like the Golden State Warriors obviously taking on the Nuggets obviously taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder as well Mavericks got a lot of work to do over the next several days to give us more confidence about what they

Can do but at the same time they needed this win to continue to build the momentum that they started and you’ve got a lot of key contributions from these guys and support of Luca Donas who continues to have me run out of superlatives at this point I’m sure for

You as you’ve watched him continue to play you saw the 21 points that he had in the second quarter just taking and making deep threes Bank Shot threes all the stuff that Luca donic is capable of doing he continues to put this team on his back and hopefully as he continue to

Do more winning here the MVP candidacy continues to strengthen he may be out of it now based off of the way that they lost five of their last six games previously to winning against Miami but at the same time winning continues to keep your name in that conversation and

The Mavs need to continue to do a lot of it it as we go forward in the final few weeks of the regular season and that’s where we are now as we look at the Mavericks we are 36 and 28 they’ve now completed 64 games there are 18 games

Left in the season they will need to make a push and these guys have talked about it after the game against Miami talked about it after the game against Detroit they know what’s at stake here and what they need to do in order to

Move forward as far as the W the rest of the western conference is Con concerned there but again got a really nice win in this game against Detroit to move forward now as they get ready to take on Chicago on Monday so the Mavericks get the 142 124 win over the Detroit Pistons

Continuing their road trip on Monday against Chicago we will see about Derek Lively and if he’s available to return it looks like he will be now that he’s back with the team after missing the game on Saturday for personal reasons and he will be needed in the middle as
