Stephen A. & Shannon REACT to the LSU vs. South Carolina ejections & scuffle | First Take

Over LSU overshadowed when Camila cardoso shoved LSU’s flowj Johnson to the floor late in the fourth quarter of yesterday’s SEC Championship Game Gamecocks guard Malaysia F wiy had stolen the ball from Johnson who wrapped her up was cold for an intentional foul Johnson bumped USC’s Ashlin Watkins

While heading to her bench and then the 6’7 cardoso rushed in and pushed the 510 Johnson to the ground Johnson’s brother came onto the floor briefly made contact with cardoso before being led Way by Security in all six players were rejected including cardoso let’s hear from the coaches da Staley Kim

Maly you know I just want to apologize to the basketball Community you know when you’re playing a championship games like this in our league things get heated no bad intentions they just Tred their emotions got so far ahead of them that sometimes these things happen so I

Want to apologize for for us playing a part in that cuz that’s not who we are and that’s not what we’re about no one wants to see to to see that ugliness but I can tell you this I wish she would have pushed Angel Reese don’t push a kid

That you 68 don’t push somebody that little that that was uncalled for in my opinion let those two girls that were jawing let them go at it camil cardoso apologized online saying I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for my actions during today’s game my behavior was not

Represent ative of who I am as a person or the South Carolina program and I deeply regret my discomfort or inconvenience it may have caused okay uh Stephen I’ll start with you what are your thoughts following yesterday’s issue on the court I’d like actually Molly I’d like to start with

Shannon because I I know I’m passionate about it but I know Shannon had a lot to say about this so I want him to go first and I’m gonna piggy back off for Shannon go ahead Shannon did you see the two differences in the stories and the coaches you see

What Don Staley said and how she tried to downplay it and you see Kim Moy how she tried to up playay it I understand this is a sec championship game there’s a lot riding on it LSU if I’m not mistaken hadn’t beaten South Carolina in

A very very long time and now we’re in the SEC Championship and you know you take things you mean it figuratively not literally oh we going to fight we going to fight them tooth and there we going to scratch and Claw we going to do everything we can you give nothing you

Allow them to take nothing but Kim Mary instead of saying you know what sometimes when emotion is high logic is low and that was not what women college basketball is about especially with the love and support that the women game has received this year thanks to Caitlyn

Clark thanks to USC aju Watkins and some of the others but for you to take that St I wish cardosa would have P push danger re really is that what you want you want to see a fight you want the women’s game to be marred by a fight like

Really come on Kim Moy you got to be better and we’ve got to start doing a better job of holding Kim Moy accountable and responsible for some of her comments we let that stuff slide because she’s a national champion I refuse to do that I believe she was

Wrong in this instance and Don Staley showed the utmost class and respect not only for the game itself but for her team and for the opposing team I wish Kim Moi had to show that level of respect but you know what South Carolina won the game they they earned the victory they

Played hard you could tell early on in the game the angel Reese or cardosa they were not going to back down both of these teams wanted to win the SEC Championship and unfortunately a situation arose glad nothing it did not escalate I understand F Johnson’s brother that’s his sister have to

Understand the circumstances I’ve been there bro I understand sometimes you lose sight and you lose focus of where you actually are but I’m glad hey nothing happened he was escorted off the court uh the W the women were suspended uh excuse me expelled from the game and

It looks like cardosa she’s going to probably miss the first round game obviously it’s a 116 matchup but she’s still going to missed this game but I just wish Kim Moi could have taken the stance that da Staley did da Staley is a national champion da Staley uh dawn

Stealey has been the three consecutive final fours dawn stealey has back-to-back undefeated seasons is 101 and3 over the last three years with a national championship in three final four births on her docket and potentially about to win another one and so we got to look at it from that

Perspective and and think about the credibility that she has yet she might have been treated significantly different than Kim Moi had those words come out of her mouth so Dawn Staley exercise class and not only that she elaborated extensively even more y’all when she said this I team from last year

Who was significantly more experienced that would not have happened because we would have calmed the waters the players would have said no we’re not about that similar to Angel Reese people are trying to insult her because she was walking away and walking to the bench saying she

Ain’t got time for all of that instead of fighting it with her teammates not realizing she had just rolled her ankle on the previous play so that had a lot to do with why she was not involved in it but we know that Jane jice ain’t

Running from anything and we know what a warrior she is and so it’ll be interesting to see it it it’ll be interesting to see what these two are going to these two teams are going to we I hope they face one another again but Cardoza is going to be suspended and she

Should she knows that she was wrong to do what she did the brother I didn’t like him jumping over the scorers table it was a bunch of ladies but he didn’t put his hands on anybody he just saw his sister being harmed and obviously it was an instantaneous reaction so we got to

Give him we got to give him a pass to some degree in that regard but in the end absolutely it does come down to leadership and when you see d Staley articulate and verbalize her position and you compare it with Kim Moi Kim Moi exercises a lot of leniency a lot of

Latitude with the things that she says almost never held accountable for them and we know that would not applied to Dawn Staley and so that I agree with you 1,00% that’s why I want you to get that off your chest first because if if a man if a man had

Said that we would them accountable but somehow Kim Moy Kim M has gone a long time and escaped criticism for a lot of things that she said she’s she’s gone without She’s Gone without criticism and and and when I look at and I remember Russ so Pat Summit I had the opportunity

Of meeting her Gino Orma can you imagine if Gino had said that yeah would have been a problem let’s hold Kim Moi to the same standard and the high levels that we hold all these other other great coaches too Don Staley was class on top of class times three in the way she

Saids I want to apologize because that’s not who we are and that’s not what we’re about and the other one was saying well I wish he had pushed our girl really really Kim come on now hey we got to do a better job of holding her accountable

Because we let stuff I don’t but this is really my first time having an opportunity to have a discussion about Kim Moi and she says and does a lot things that rub me the wrong way and I’m not going to apologize for being as harsh and as Stern as I am because of

The way what she had to say Yesterday

  1. Shannon and Stephen changed the narrative. Mulkey pretty much said Milla wouldn’t have tried Angel Reese like that because she knows better, but Milla want to put hands on Johnson because she is smaller. That’s all that was, Mulkey didn’t say anything out of the way. Thats like Zion shoving Steph Curry and Kerr saying Zion wouldnt have tried that with Draymond. Angel Reese is a dawg and Milla is a dawg but Milla didn’t go after her.

  2. the ref"s should have cleaned up play early. Look at how many elbows were thrown by LSU during the game. i counted 10 that could have really hurt somebody. Angel pushed and pulled hair intentionally. Johnson started the pushing match and got to stay in the game. 90 % of the people are never gonna pull for a team that's undefeated in any sport, but you cant let teams continue to try and bully a team they can't beat. If you want to win, coach better and find the players. lol

  3. I think everybody is making this comment by Kim and taking it out of context. We all know that she is not asking for a fight. She is simply stating the facts that she understands what her player did, but you can clearly see the Ashley who got shoved off phone number for didn’t really care and was unbothered. So if your teammate is unbothered by what that player did what gives you the right to run over there and push her down and she is freaking out inches below you. Kim is simply stating that if those two are going to talk trash to each other, let them talk trash to each other, you don’t wanna bring yourself over there and get violent. What she did could’ve caused an injury what she did she is highly unacceptable and she has done it multiple times before. Kim doesn’t need to be the one apologizing because at the end of the day there are multiple players who brush past each other, but it doesn’t lead to another teammate, pushing them down violently. She’s clearly just eating the fact that this player acted violently on a smaller player for no reason. And that this player would’ve never done that to somebody who was at her height or at her level because the reaction would’ve been different. And those are facts as you can see the South Carolina player only pushes down people who are smaller than her. She did it in the Brazilian game and she’s done it before. Only reason why Dawn 🌞 is apologizing is to say face, because her team is labeled as a ghetto thug type of team. On top of that it was uncalled for and out of line. You didn’t see any other LSU player responding in that way or nature to them

  4. Shannon shut up Oh girl was being a bully Everybody has an opinion when they’re not there on the floor.

  5. It wasn't the hard intentional foul that LSU's Johnson committed that inspired retribution, but the intentional elbow to the head of a South Carolina player that was extremely low class and bush league. Pay attention to the video.

  6. They'll see each other again in the national championship is going to be one of the most legendary games of the season will be more anticipated than any of the men's games just like last year

  7. Staley is a rude high and mighty big mouth. She said the right things but she coaches her team like thugs. I hope LSU stomps them in basketball and someone needs take out Cordoza. Pick on someone your size is exactly what LSU coach meant.

  8. They need to play the clip in slow motion because if someone came yelling in your face you would kind of shrug them off too.smh.

  9. Come on Shannon. That’s not what Kim was saying and you know it. She was saying that Cardoso needs to pick on someone her own size. The reason Dawn played it down was because she knows her girls escalated it.

  10. Catfight!!! 😍 😅 But seriously, Cardoso was my favorite player to watch last season. The HEIGHT. This season seems like she is being highlighted more though. Glad nobody was hurt but that LSU coach's comments was silly on many levels. Saying you wished she would have pushed Reese is like if somebody was saying they wished Shaq would have pushed AI rather than someone smaller. Who cares… they're all small. There is still nobody as big as mf Shaq. Its the same thing here. Quiet the situation, make the necessary apologies or whatever from both sides. And move on. Talking nonsense on the mic. You want your team to be tough, not stupid.

  11. Why does her height matter? In men’s ball we don’t get angry cause a tall player shoves a smaller player while sticking up for his teammate. Making it about her height is weird

  12. Mulkey gets a pass? Tell me, Shannon, did you say anything when Staley said Mulkey was hired at LSU because she was white?

  13. When you put class against a sot then you get answers like that. As far as a dude jumping in to fight a female, he’s from the same trailer park.

  14. Poor excuse, when things get heated, can’t we ever just walk away. Why do we hate each other so much? I guess it’s better than a drive by.
