Yeah the new philosophy is simple:
Donic points at an opp player he should be guarding, the nearest Mavs teammate then must sprint across the court to pick him up, then they pass it to Doncic’s man and when he gets blown by he has to point again and the process repeats.
I believe Kidd’s new defensive philosophy should be called something like “a point for a point” or I’m sure one of you nerds can come up with something more clever.

This in theory isnt a bad idea if you choose a long switchable defender *cough*PJ*cough*.
What I hate is that I’ve seen that guy be someone like THJ.
It’s not a great idea in today’s nba with all the shooters unless you have someone that can cover a lot of ground. I think Green would also be good for that role but we dont have anyone else to guard scorers on ball

Guess the defense was doing too well last few games before ASB. Cant have that #1 defense now, lets tank it to #30 in one decision. Truly a mastermind!

It can be a good philosophy (in theory) if we are rotating around the center so that the paint is always protected. It would take a lot of effort and communication from everyone though.

Well, it makes some sense as to why things fell apart. Interesting that they tried to do something new so late in the year, but it is what it is.

Let me see if I understand this. You have all been screaming for him to do something different. Nico got two good guys for the roster, guys that fit the defense Kidd wants to run. Plenty of you on this thread have also beat the lousy defense drum to oblivion, said we won’t get out of the first round with that defense. So we got the guys. We got 20 games to make changes. It takes some time to integrate the new players and the new D but the target is better defense for the playoffs. Nico got the players. Kidd made the changes. And you guys are still bitching, even though you’ve got exactly what you have been begging for.
