The league needs to cut ties with gambling organizations and dedicate themselves to the integrity of their product rather than the image. Of course that would decrease revenue short term so these greedy fucks will never do that. This was exactly my take on this. When stars of this level are public about this you have a problem. You cannot ignore it especially because it already happened once. I don’t know what I believe about being on the take but the fact it’s in my mind for bad calls is a huge issue.
Every single fan makes jokes about ref crews for playoff series when one team gets ahead. And they’re RIGHT a lot!!
The NBA needs to take it seriously or people will stop taking it seriously. They may still watch for entertainment, just like WWE, but that’s not what anyone who likes basketball wants.
The NBA has gradually become a soap opera around the games and increasingly there is doubt about some games. The NBA seems to be taking an publicity is good publicity stance, even when it’s clips of utter ref incompetence. This is not too far from making the sport secondary to the circus.
