Gas yeah I mean listen I I felt like this was a game in which you know luck kind of had to be on their side a little bit they they’ve definitely kind of I feel like squeaked away with some wins or um you know just down the stretch
Been giving it all that they’ve got and I’m like wow there’s an incredible stretch that’s going to be coming up here prior to going or excuse me getting ready to go on the west coast road trip and obviously this felt very much like a road game just because of the injuries
And everything else against a team that didn’t really have any injuries at all um but I feel like this was probably going to happen if if New Orleans was playing the Harlem Globe CHS at least that’s the way that it felt now obviously we know the asteris that come behind it with
Injuries and everything else um but I was curious to know how are the Hawks going to game plan against the length and the size uh of of uh the Pelicans you know when you start talking about herb Jones and um you know Zion Williams and maybe not as much length
But just the muscle and the power and the dominance and all of that just young legs very young team although they have a very good balance for some experience as well things that just the Hawks cannot help things that are just not really in their control and like hey
Let’s go out there and give it our best shot and try and give ourselves a shot at keeping it close even more so how well are they going to take um of you know take where the how are they going to take advantage of the opportunities
That they do have and this is one of those games where I feel like every shot pretty much had to be made and that’s very unrealistic another reason why we saw the somewhat lopsided outcome on tonight was down by 22 got found a way to cut it to eight when you starting
Respectfully when you starting Vic crushy you know that you got some different situations going on yeah I I would say the same and I think it kind of went like you said it was an up and down situation but it was one of those where when it was down it was really
Down like you said we’re talking about a 20 plus point lead that the Pelicans were able to hold on to for a good stretch of the game and then you’re talking about stretches with the Hawks where they just flat out couldn’t score like they had and we’ll talk about this
A little bit more in the and one but when you have the ball 37 times you’re going upwards to 40 and yet you don’t have even 25 points off those possessions that’s not likely going to win you the game against just about any team in the association especially this year where teams are
Just scoring at will and this Pelicans team can definitely score and then they were able to do it in areas where you kind of thought it was going to happen and it did and don’t get me wrong Zion Williamson is a matchup nightmare for any team right so yeah so let let’s not
Act like this is just a hawks issue but it did kind of rear its ugly head a little bit more than maybe it normally would have because of the lack of size across that starting lineup for the Hawks and maybe they got a little bit
More length with a V crei but you didn’t really get any size when you start thinking about it they had to really play some serious small ball with bug bonovich deante Murray and V Cree in the lineup and then sadique Bay will’ll talk a little bit about him as well but with
Sadique Bay and just Clint capella again with Clint you do get the length but you just don’t get the size there was just no answer for Zion Williamson not even to kind of stop him eventually because he does end with 27 points and seven rebounds but honestly I think for me you
Even look into how maybe you balance and sometimes desan just a matter of matchups the Pelicans decide to go big they go with not just Zion Williams Williamson at the power forward but they go with um Brandon Ingram small forward herb Jones small forward exactly so you
Got them going with hey we’ll just hit you with a big lineup and Jonas B junis and we oh my God I’m I’m missing out on all the names I’m glad that you mentioned these guys to n because I’m missing out on some of these names I
Didn’t think about how deep this roster and or is it’s crazy it no no it and you kind of touched on it I was just kind of piggybacking on what you said in terms of how you have a nice little lineup that the Pelicans have put together with even Larry Nance
Jr having been able to give something but again where am I going with it they decided that they could play big ball and they could play big ball better and they did but unfortunately the small ball for the Pelicans actually played bigger than the small ball for the Hawks as well and
Yeah so that’s what that was my my takeway like the Hawks couldn’t stop Trey that other Trey because of course the Hawks Trey young is still out but Trey Murphy the third was that Trey tonight whether you want to call him that other Trey random role player other
Dude from Virginia not named DeAndre Hunter I don’t really care what you want to call him because the bottom line is he got his number called and he was ready for it when the PS called him 28 points on 10 of 18 shooting six of 13
From three a couple free throws a couple of makes seven rebounds two assists and just two turnovers that’s a really nice game for Trey Murphy the third off the bench in just 30 minutes and when you look at the fact that C.J McCullum played 31 minutes Jose Alvarado played
17 minutes but this team even leaning into their bigs I feel like their small ball when small ball was on the court small ball won because when you look at what the back court of the Hawks was able to do yes bdon bonovich had 25 points and yes Deonte Murray had 23
Points but Bogi was nine of 19 yeah nice especially the seven of 15 from three but DJ seven of 21 and I really felt like he had a nice night from three four of 10 but that seven of 20 really what underlies that is the fact that DJ had
To pretty much drop 41 points a couple nights ago and that win against the Grizzlies and sometimes it just takes it all out of you Deshawn and I I felt like with him it kind of just took it out of him it definitely did um and you know
What I got to give some credit to to bogy because you know when you’re a guy who is so much known as you know six men Off the Bench you’re you’re expected to be added to um the offensive production and bring the offensive Firepower you expected to add that well he was
Actually leading the way of that that’s not easy for six-man to do which to be honest with you makes it even that much more crazy how we used to see Lou will do that on on like every single night whole different conversation but but that’s a new situation for Bogey and for
Him to step in you know stand in the Gap and step in and kind of plug and play and just go out there be a shooter don’t necessarily try to rush any and and everything not the most athletic guy on the roster and in a very athletic Run
And Jump League I thought he did himself a pretty fine job and definitely want to give a shout out real quick to um you know the the the the ones who you know typically come in here and show us some love of course Blackman you know the
Ability to not score in the paint is something that kind of the Hawks and appreciate Willie cars well who always chimes in as well if you can’t score the ball in the paint and stop people from scoring in the paint most likely you’re going to lose and that’s enough said so
While I think that that made some very good points um you know being outscored 56 to 38 I will add in this fact it wasn’t all on the negative side um we talked about the 22p point deficit that was cut to eight points so good job by
The Hawks on that but only 11 turnovers um with only eight of them coming in the first half you know I I think that that was something that was kind of telling they still found a way to control what they could and protect the basketball um 43 point I’m sorry 40
41 rebounds in comparison to New Orleans 43 rebounds just two rebounds less I mean for a team that was so much significantly bigger than uh than Atlanta was I think think that Atlanta did a pretty fine job again just controlling what they can and doing whatever they can to add effort to the
Situation yeah yeah I mean I I I could I could definitely agree with you on that one I don’t think that the rebound battle was necessarily a place where the Hawks lost the game but I think it was points in the paint where they lost it
And maybe instead of it being more on the defensive side of the ball where they lost against The Bigs I think where they did lose against the bigs is the fact that when those bigs penetrated in the paint they made the Hawks pay and I appreciate you guys for talking about

To have a situation where like you get a disabled player exception when the NBA team has a player that goes down and the injuries deem season ending they haven’t had that happened with the Hawks you’ve had players go out for weeks sometimes a month and a half in the case of Jaylen
Johnson are almost there but not a season ending injury or you have to have a situation where there are only five eligible players remaining one of those players is injured he exits the game or he’s ejected or just there’s just there are so many circumstances that have to
Happen in order for you to get any type of exception and unfortunately that’s not where the Hawks find themselves unfortunately the Hawks find themselves where a lot of teams are right now I think we talked about this last week when uh they took on the Knicks and how
The Knicks were down that particular game they were down Jaylen Brunson but had already been down Julius Randall and Mitchell Robinson and Oobi so it’s a thing to where right now we’re less than 20 games to the end of the regular season and just about every team team is
Experiencing this unfortunately a lot of times this is where it shows whether or not you made those good calls at the trade deadline or whether or not your farm system better known as the g-league in the NBA actually has the players that you need to be able to call up and
They’re familiar with your system already or do you have to kind of go out there and kind of Peace meal like they had to do with a Dylan Windler because he was just maybe a better fit for what they were looking for but it’s a challenge I mean like you said this is

Been leaky All Season it was leaky when you had everybody there and everybody was healthy so now that everybody is either not in the game or they’re not at 100% it’s really going to be a serious Challenge on how Quin Snyder kind of works his Wizardry in terms of tinkering
With the lineup now the other piece that was a little bit disconcerting especially when a sadique bay goes down and he really for the most part the last month has had his Touchback you look at the the fact that the Hawks had 24 points at one point of in this game on
37 offensive possessions and deante Murray he gave it his best I mean he still scored 23 points still hit four from 10 from three which is probably part of the reason the Hawks were able to stay in the game just like with bdon bogdanovich Team High 25 points off
Seven of 15 from three that’s probably how you kept this game as close as you did and to your point how you score more than 100 points but the bottom line is when we look at the Juggernaut that they’re about to go against and not that they’re going against every best team in
The West in this next five game road trip but it’s more about teams that can score that’s the biggest challenge so I mean Deshawn where are the Hogs goingon to get these points from in the coming weeks as they are kind of doing a plug-and playay with this roster yeah
And not only teams that can score but but teams that know how to take advantage of situations that the Hawks are currently in what do you look to um probably up first outside of DeAndre Hunter who’s going to be forced to play some of that four position just because
Situationally but more situationally now more than ever um is probably the guy that I want to give a little bit of flowers to considering how underman that they were in the front Court um and you only know what you’re going to get out of Bruno Fernando which isn’t ton per se
Outside of eort and that is Clint capella um you know being a guy on tonight 18 points 14 rebounds I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen that much offensive contribution from Clint capella but I think it’s been a minute it’s gonna have to come between a combination of he and DeAndre Hunter
Yeah um DeAndre Hunter more so because he has the ability to stretch some of the bigger guys that will be defending him out to the three-point line yeah and he has been arguably one of the most you know consistent guys for the last we don’t know we don’t say it often but
Over the course of the last you know almost two handfuls of games or so 10 games close to it anyway so that’s what I would be probably you know relying upon the most I think that’s a great call because You’ mentioned actually on our postcast Friday how it may not seem
Like a big deal to most but when he’s averaging in the 13-point range prior to going down with the injury where he was in the starting lineup and he was essentially playing a full 48 we know everybody gets arrest but a full 48 he comes back on a minutes restriction and
Slowly works his way back into the lineup and now has actually increased his point production by four minutes Four Points it may not seem like that’s a big deal on average but when you talk about that relative to the number of possessions that the Hawks have and how
Efficient he’s been in increasing his point average from about 13 to 14 to about 17 to 18 a game yeah that could be very very critical and it could be critical for what we saw him do tonight yes we’re only talking about 12 points in the game tonight but we’re also
Talking about a game where within those 12 points he was at least five of 15 and that wasn’t a super efficient night but if you got to get it out of DeAndre Hunter you got to get points out of somewhere dig it out of the mud get it

End up on this road trip 5- 0 4- one maybe 3-2 and wherever you think they have an opportunity to get some wins tell me how you think they’re gonna stack those dubs scratching my head that ain’t got no hair on it tanra you making my brain work because I’m really trying
To figure out how They’re Gonna Come Away with wins uh there goes that prayer closet conversation again maybe though give me those five again it starts with Portland yep starts with Portland and then they make a trip to Utah which hey I’m calling that a win because they just
Beat the Jazz right so we’ll go ahead and call the Jazz a win the Clippers who they almost beat until they didn’t a couple of weeks ago Lakers on Monday and then they wrap up with the Suns so we’ all we let’s give them one win we’re
Gonna give Jazz it only gets tougher and tougher you want the Jazz I’m gonna go with Portland Portland has been struggling all year they’ve been struggling all year long got some good talent over there but I don’t think that they’ve I don’t think that they have had
Enough time to to put it together and figure this thing out um this is where the Hawks can just kind of come in and find them you know Portland kind of sleepwalking a little bit um maybe not on their PS and q’s you know games like this you have to make sure especially
When you see a visiting team coming in that doesn’t have all their pieces last thing you want is for that team to come in with a little bit of confidence and just kind of play I was taught at a very young age to NRA that um you know when

Worst thing that can happen you know so I think that that game would come against Portland the other ones I feel like our L’s obviously I agree with you if there was a second one it would probably be Utah yeah when you start talking about going over into LA and um
You know obviously Phoenix and at at Clippers and I don’t have a very good feeling at all yeah and I I tell you when I look at I I agree with you on the Blazers I mean they’re out here trying to keep their Lottery hopes dreams and aspirations alive so ain’t nobody got
Time to be beating the H you know so maybe they can start off the road trip on a high note in that game against Portland and yes I do think Utah is a game that’s winnable for them only because they just beat Utah back on the
27th and it was quite a decisive win uh 27 points to be exact so I feel like that’s another game that they can kind of count as the win and hey I always love Quin Snider going back just like I mean it wasn’t a party for John Collins
Coming here but I feel like it’s going to be a party for Quin Snider going there and yeah I do think this Clippers team is just playing some solid basketball so that’s not a team that I that’s not a game I feel is necessarily winnable but they’ve beaten the Lakers
So I’m gonna say hey maybe they get another one on this Lakers team I think it just kind of depends on who shows up for the Lakers in terms of injury and I think the same thing with the Suns they beat the Suns they beat the Suns they
Beat the Suns so I’m going to give them three and two only because they’ve been able to show show us that they can win games that are winnable and have shocked us and pleasantly surprised us and gotten games where we thought no way can they win those games at all now Deshawn
I will use this caveat when they got those wins there were individuals named Trey young and Jaylen Johnson in the lineup I will actually make sure that you guys understand that I’m a that this lineup ain’t that lineup she doesn’t need to be drug tested folks
It’s all good exactly I’m go I’mma I’mma go one and four um tanicha I’m one two and three but let me make sure that I make it very clear that I hope that I am wrong okay yes um but Robert Willie you guys taking this down right yeah yeah let’s make sure let’s
Make sure that they forget all about this um but you know I I will say this it would not surprise me if they won more than one game or more than two games and I’ll tell you why there’s just something about when you know they have a different confidence
They kick it into a different gear sometimes now I do understand that obviously more guys are injured than there was at this time but we were talking about them going on that trip to Florida at Orlando um at Miami you know those were games that people were not
Giving them a chance a shot obviously it took some heroic efforts by Deonte Murray at the end of the game and so forth for those games but they they play a good brand of basketball and sometimes that’s all you need keep it close and continue to do the things that’s working
For you don’t try and get away from the things that got you there and don’t try and do things that you just you know tried out for the first time and practice yesterday uh if they if they if they do that I think that they could
Potentially have a chance um at two or three but I’m closer to to okay all right all right play your space game with these talks chances on this road trip if you will to shant Tate it’s all good but I do understand what you’re saying because also of course those
Quality wins that they got against the Lakers and that they got against Phoenix uh the Lakers were without LeBron James I believe Phoenix was I want to say without Devon Booker and of course those were games that they won at home so those things do matter as well listen as
