Exciting news out of San Diego today the San Diego Clippers are back obviously San Diego Clippers well before I was born they were an NBA team in San Diego Bill Walton they were there for what six years so they’re back g-league not the NBA but obviously the Los Angeles

Clippers it was Ontario was their g-league team and now they are going to be here in San Diego starting this next g-league season and for anyone that doesn’t know g-league that’s like the minor league team for the NBA and there’s every team has a a g-league team and they play each

Other and some players have started in the g-league and then they come up in the NBA and they’re good so you know the goals for San Diego goals they’re the Anaheim Ducks affiliate so San Diego is gonna have another one they’re going to be playing in Oceanside and the Clippers announced

Today they’re relocating okay so from Ontario they’re playing at Toyota Arena and they’re going to be playing at frontwave Arena the news comes amid speculation that the Stan crony back Midway Rising project could eventually lure a major sports franchise to San Diego I’m reading from the San Diego Union Tribune

Fans their argument could be well the current owner of the Chargers said f you to San Diego so that’s why I don’t root for the Chargers this is a new owner this owner for the Clippers not he didn’t just become the owner but it’s not Sterling who move the team it’s

Balmer and Balmer is a different owner obviously so maybe fans say I’ll root for the Clippers he got inspiration from San Diego state from the show from the ble from the seats at Vos Arena the wall that’s going to be at the new Clippers Arena that was inspired

By San Diego State vas Arena so he’s taking San Diego things and put putting it there he’s putting a San Diego g-league team they’re in Oceanside so maybe some are like well he cares about the San Diego Community it’s a different owner than the one that left so I’ll

Root for the LA Clippers um we’ll that’s that’s just kind of the the conversation I saw a little bit on social media I think it’s adding another team we don’t have G we didn’t have a g-league or NBA team or WNBA team in San Diego having

One here I think that’s cool and so obviously it’s your choice if you want to root for the LA Clippers maybe you won’t root for the LA Clippers until some San Diego g-league players end up playing for the Clippers and starring for the Clippers if that ever happens um

Or maybe you will just root for the San Diego Clippers you’ll go to some games just to have a good time and you won’t be invested in the LA Clippers maybe you’ll maybe you’ll have another maybe you have a I think I could see this happening as well people have NBA teams

Already so they’re not going to switch they’ll support the g-league team because it’s g-league like whatever but they’ll root for their NBA team that they have already maybe that’s what happens but I wonder what people in San Diego think about this are you going to be an LA Clippers fan now

Lakers I view the Lakers more of more of like they are definitely La La’s team like I don’t want them to win I’ll root for Kawai hope he does well um but like the Clippers aren’t I’m not sitting and watching every Clipper game like go Clippers you know it’s still an LA team

So San Diego Clippers g-league season it would start late in 2024 at front wave Arena G more about the G League by the way 31 g-league squads teams play a 50 game schedule this is from NBC 7 San Diego darn trip uh was at this press conference today

The season starts with a 16 game competition called the Showcase cup that lasts until late December and is followed by the primary portion of the league schedule consisting of 34 games from there the best six teams in the eastern and western conferences advance to the postseason so that’s what the the format

There looks like so that the the Showcase cup till late December so the season starts probably sometime in November so it’s another team in town I I don’t think that that can be a bad thing right and if people pack that arena for a g-league team then maybe the WNBA will

Look at San Diego and be like H interesting I don’t think the NBA is coming but I could I’d be glad to be wrong I’d love to have an NBA team here I’d love to have a WNBA team here um but a lot of things have to happen for that

You know like we don’t have an arena for that right now there’s there’s projects for that but I feel like we talk about new projects all the time
